    Napoleon lost at Waterloo because by that moment other European countries studied his military innovations and tactics and adapted them as well. So, it would have been better if Napoleon instead did not overestimate himself in his first rule and didn't try to bite more that he can chew (trying to conquer Russian Empire) - if he stopped at some point, he would have had all the chances to stay for long and implement his project of rebuilding Europe

    • @batmunkhmlw3063
      @batmunkhmlw3063 7 місяців тому

      He never tried to conquer Russian empire. It was Alexander who declared war on Napoleon and when Napoleon came with army Alexander just ran away like you know who. @@malocuillandre1344 Just as many other countries. Problem with Continental Blockade was that it was very unprofitable and openly damaging for the economies of many countries who participated in it - Napoleon didn't come up with any plan how to compensate those losses. Considering that British trade wasn't damaged as much as it was expected, several countries, including Russian Empire, decided that the whole idea of Blockade isn't working, and abandoned it. Napoleon wasn't "forced to invade Russia" - he had two options: either negotiate with Russian Empire and find a way to sway Russia on his side (reimagine the principles of Blockade so it won't be so damaging, or find a way to compensate those losses to Russia in one or another form), or just try to directly invade Russian Empire to turn it into his direct vassal or client state. Napoleon has chosen the second variant - and that was exactly "biting more than you can chew".

      @@thedreamscripter4002 Continental blockade was not unprofitable for Russia.
