I sat on that bench with my parents in 1964! That was such a close call! That could have been us! If that had killed my parents, they wouldn't have live to die of old age 5 years ago, and my 2 younger brothers would have never been born!

Reminds everyone that Yellowstone is perched on the rim of a 600 mile diameter "super" caldera. Park rangers will tell you that as near as geologists can tell the volcano which formed said caldera goes off about every 180,000,000 years. Guess how long ago the last eruption was. We're all just along for the ride.

I doubt it. There's no way to evacuate all who would be affected by the eruption. The scientists seem to think the eruption won't come in our lifetime. Of course, they thought Mt. St. Helens was safe, too.

If it is so common, they would not have the boardwalk so close to it. Acidic, hot rocks and steam raining down on people sounds like liability I dont see Yellowstone risking if it is so "common".

6.4 earthquake in tofino canada two weeks ago, 7.4 earthquake in Chile a few days ago, and two days ago a 6.2 earth quake in Nicaragua..... fire always precedes, heavy rain, heavy rain is always followed by lubrication of the earths fault lines and pressure gets released in slippage and volcano eruptions.
