      Thanks! I am actually thinking about removing the side rails... they add weight and I'm not sure I need them after fishing out of the Lynx for 2 months without them.

    Very nice set up. I am curious about your side arm transducer arm (looks like a RAM product) and if you are happy with it? I am considering putting a Texas power paddle motor in my lynx. If I do that, I will need use a side arm transducer and trying to determine which model will work best mounted to the H Rails. I want to make sure that the arm easy to flip up and out of the way when launching and loading from my kayak trailer.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  2 роки тому

      I am pretty happy with the over-the-side transducer arm, but you do have to be aware of the directions the arm is willing to rotate on the ram ball. I snapped off one of the ram balls by twisting the arm too hard when trying to deploy it, but I tend to start with the old “hit it harder” method of solving problems before actually using my brain. Overall, I would like it better mounted under the boat, but I’m unsure how to do the wiring by myself yet, so I’m waiting to try with my next boat. For the Lynx, I like easily being able to go light with no electronics by just leaving off the transducer arm and battery!

    I just snagged an H-rail kit! I was wondering if you’ve seen any damage to the hull at the rear mounting point? There are a few videos about this and one company is selling spacers to put between hull and back mounting bracket that they say mitigate this damage. Do you think the spacers are necessary?

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  2 роки тому

      Congrats! it makes a big difference to be able to mount stuff on those rails. I haven't noticed any damage from my rails at all. I am careful about the amount of stress I put on them, I don't lift using them or anything, but I have my fish finder mounted on the track in the rail, as well as a YakGadget RodStager that holds my paddle and 2 rods, so I definitely use them. I just went and checked... no damage that I can see anywhere around the rails.

    Hello Melissa, enjoy your channel. Congratulations on your new journey with Hobie. I have couple questions about the Hobie Lynx. Do you have more drift when sitting on a spot in light winds

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! Thanks! For the record, I have no association with Hobie, but it is a dream of mine to make the Hobie team... I think I have to build up my tournament resume before I would even hit their radar. I am very thankful to have been voted on the Strictly Sail Fishing Team, and am proud to represent them, as I have nothing but good things to say about them! There may be a little more wind drift with the Lynx because it is almost flat on the bottom, but it is also more easily corrected with pedals and rudder because it is so light and so easily maneuvered. I've fished in really strong winds (one day it was 17-21 mph gusts) and was able to stay in place with pedaling. The cart does not come with the Lynx, but I believe it is the standard Hobie cart that goes in the scupper holes. This is the cart I use: strictlysailinc.com/products/hobie-kayak-cart-plug-in-fold-stow?_pos=8&_sid=2dcc6ea69&_ss=r

      I love my Lynx! I haven't had it on a river yet, so I am not sure how it will stand up to repeated dragging over shallow riffles and such, but I would have total faith in it on any lake or deeper river (doesn't have to be very deep at all to float this boat!).

    Nice clean layout. Do you have a front or side rod holder to drop your rod in after your catch. I noticed some folks just tucking it along side of seat. Thx cheers.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  2 роки тому

      Last summer I just set my rod on the deck while measuring a fish. But this year I’m trying out the YakGadget horizontal rod stagers… they attach to either a gear track or H-Rail, and have a place for 2!rods and a paddle, or 3 rods. Hobie makes one similar, but I saw John (YakGadget owner) at a boat show, and decided to go ahead and try his first, and so far I really like them!

    Hi Melissa. Unless I missed then in your video, what type of wheels do you use on the lynx for transportation to/from your vehicle? If I remember correctly on one of your previous videos you had them stored on the H Crate where you now have your rods. I recently sold my large Ranger bass boat and am now considering a kayak, particularly the lynx, though at my age I may not outlive the waiting time due to the huge backlog of of orders. The sales person at Strictly Sale told me that Hobie is essentially overwhelmed.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 роки тому

      Hi Bill! I use the Hobie Fold & Stow cart, it "plugs in" to the scupper holes behind the seat and makes moving the Lynx up and down the ramp a breeze! Hobie does seem to be caught off guard by the immediate popularity of the Lynx, but I would have expected them to have more faith in themselves and be prepared for a big rush! Maybe it was the whole global pandemic thing that slowed down production. I know Strictly Sail is doing everything they can to get more in soon! Here is the link to the cart I use: strictlysailinc.com/products/hobie-kayak-cart-plug-in-fold-stow?_pos=8&_sid=27460d4a4&_ss=r

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 роки тому

      After a couple of times out, I realized 1) I didn't want to give up the rod storage space 2) I really don't need the cart with me on the water when I am parked really close to the ramp usually 3) when I do need to take the cart with me, it fits nicely behind the H-Crate where it bungees in safely and out of the way!

    Great video do you think it’s too loud for stealthy fishing?

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 роки тому +2

      I have heard other people say the sound of the water slapping the hull is loud, but I kind of feel like if it is that wavy out there, are the fish really going to mind? Is the sound of the water slapping an elite angler's glitter bass boat going to keep them from catching a fish? I have also heard complaints that the fins are loud when you kick the pedals too far and the fins hit the boat... so I would suggest you don't do that! 🤣 It just takes getting used to the "stroke" of the kick, so you don't push the pedal too far. It can be a little loud if you bang something on the boat, so again, I would avoid doing that if you are going for stealth. All in all, I would say it can be super quiet and stealthy if you are careful.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  3 роки тому

      I really like it so far! I just found out that if I switch it from a track mount to the H-rail mount (the type that goes around the bar instead of going in the track slot), I would be able to rotate the paddle until it sits much lower and more out of the way. With the track mount, it is fixed where it is, which isn't a bad location, but my buddy showed me his, and it is even better!

      I thought about that, but since I net my fish on the right side, I wanted to have that shot for the videos. I could switch my fishfinder to the right side, try to get used to netting on the left side, and then move the camera to the left side... seems like a lot of hassle.
