I can tell you why I purchased the M5 vs the M9 in one word "PRICE" sure the M5 only uses one effect at a time but when the price is $129.00 vs $399.00 for a M9 that is why I got the M5 and it has all the same effects as the M9 and M13. If I need some heavy gain with a certain effect like a phaser on the M5 I can get that out of my Marshall amp. and guitars or my fuzz face. And the effects are what line 6 says they are, they changed the names for legal reasons but you can see in your manual what it is modeled after. I checked the facial fuzz against my Dunlop Hendrix mini fuzz face and it sounds identical the same with the Dunlop Hendrix cry baby against the line 6 weeper effect not to mention the EX1 expression pedal ($49.00) has more range in the pedal than my cry baby wah, Line 6 did a kick ass job of making the effects sound like the real pedals, and if you look at any pros pedal board they have more than one pedal even if they have a Line 6 M13 in their chain of pedals, so only one effect at a time vs 3 with the M9 and 4 with the M13 I have no worries with just 1 effect at a time, I can't afford $400 on disability without a EX1 but I can afford $129 for the M5 and $49 for the EX1.
I'm new to effects pedals and such...I don't know much about them but what i'm wondering is if I need anything other than an amp and a guitar (obviously) and two cords, one going from the M5 to the amp and one going from the M5 to my guitar?
I wish this would do a few fx at the same time, I have an alternate use for my Line 6 XT. I disable the amp and speaker sim. I use the reverb, delays, and modulation for a grab and go stereo rig. Certain utility fx should always include noise gate for overdrives and distortions. I would like to see an updated version that had 2 to 3 combinations.
I can't get the M5 to send any commands to MIDI pedals placed after it. I have a Boss Es-8 with MIDI out to Source Audio Neuro Hub (w/Nemesis Delay & Vertigo Trem)>M5>TC Vintage Delay (identical to T-Rex Replica). The TC needs CC20 and CC21 for bypass and delay time, but I just can't get those messages through the M5 MIDI out. Do I need another small MIDI controller, like a Disaster Area DMC or similar?
I think it's a great idea. I have several tunes where I need one effect - like a flanger for one track, an echo for another and a tremelo for another tune. With this, I don't need to have (and buy) a flange pedal and a tremelo and a delay all on my already large 'board. I just have this one and switch patch between tunes. Also, if I want to try some weird sounds, I don't need to go and buy a pedal, try it and decide I don't like it. Very tempted to head out and buy one tomorrow...

@tyineurope On-board wah/volume pedal and amp and cab modeling constitutes the additional 60%? :P
Hi, could you give me a list of the note values provided for delay times when tap tempo is enabled? Also the delay time goes from 2000ms to how many ms? 1ms? 0ms? Thanks!
Its very hard to put a precise delay ms because the knob is too sensitive. I'm in 209ms and need to set it to 230ms and its virtually impossible... I touch the knob and it goes from 209ms to 356ms... It's impossible to set a precise ms in the M5...
@Thumbshifter Dude, I couldn't recommend this pedal more. Your situation is the same thing that I have, and I bought one. Never looking back, it's perfect for an open spot on your board.
Once I go to like reverb, can I add a distortion or overdrive with that reverb? it doesn't look like you can. It would be nice to mix effects together instead of just customizing one effect only.
Oh ok, cool. Then that's what I'll look for then. M5 is nice, you can set it so you can go to a reverb then a distortion but not together. Need to add more pedals to the chain for that. Thanks!
Dumb video guys, why not actually demo it instead of that crappy sound track? I bought this pedal, it's great for home and feels tough enough for a gig. Nice sounds, very manaloguey when required.
how do you change the presets??? Example: from the 1-24 presets how would I add a distortion in 1 a delay in 2 reverb in 3 and so on. I can not seem to select a sound I want and put it in the presets.
Sorry, Line 6, I didn't find that particularly helpful. Some audio demonstrations to illustrate what you were doing would have helped. Also it would have been clearer ir the camera had showed what was on the effect screen. That said, it's a great pedal.

Anyone know how to rest to factory settings? When I turn the mode select knob "RST FACT" dosent come up
How do you use the tuner?? I hold it down, tuner pulls up, I get nothing!

I want blues tube breakup sounds. Will this work well with a smallish Solid State amp?

only one effect? delay or chorus + distortion?
My line6's turner just stopped working. How can I fix it? It do not even show the note
was gonna get an m13 but realized my other pedals would be to much so i'm just gonna get a m5
Can it be run on a 12Voltage instead? will there be a side effect?

Editable presets? can i change names? can i use delay and reverbs in the same preset?

You can only use one effect at a time on the M5. They do have an M9 that does multiple.

This can only use one effect at a time. The M9 can use 3, the M13 can use 4.
At least Get a split screen shot of the device display window for future videos.

I'm trying to figure that out too.
In this video 3:00-3:45 he describes save process
Still don't know how to turn it off
Turn off that fucking music when giving instructions..
it uses a 9 volt power supply
hmmm... i don't get it, for 40% of the price of POD HD500...
Extremly badly written manual...but great little toy if you like to try out different effects and maybe get the real stuff later.
I am trying to hear you but the music is so distracting
Music too loud...
thanks for tap tempo delay answer!

nice1 music man
Seriously....why? The M9 isn't much bigger & WAY more versatile.
2024
someone at manufacturing was bored...
thanks !:! ma^!
i could shoot a better video at home , give me that !
This seems entirely too small to use in any live, recording or practice situation
