    The shame is some folks still have no idea that Pete had sprinters speed, and a great high jumpers vertical jump to go along with his uncanny ball skills. He was a superior athlete before his knees gave out, not just a super ball player.

    Thanks alot for posting this , been waiting for this. As a kid Johnny Unitas in Football , Carl Yastrzemski in baseball were my favorite players in those 2 sports . But my all time favorite was Pete Maravich . When he died in Jan 1988 I was crushed and over the years learned about his life on and off the court making what he did that more special . But all that he did was not as important as if he had lived and was still with us ,and with his family who miss more than we do .

    Thank you
    My father died when I was 9 and you never get over it. Sometimes it still hurts but most days it’s fine. He’d expect me to live my life as best I can. My mother died when I was 42. I’m now 61. Family is what matters. Not basketball, not fame, not money.
    To Pete’s children- live your life. He’d want that.

      Pistol Pete was amazing but this is clearly just an absurd biased fanfare claim. He’s not even Top 10, much less the greatest! He’s maybe a Top 30 player of All-Time but even that might be a stretch. Maravich, as great as he already was, would have been seen in a different light and would have likely scored 40 points per game.

    Pete Maravich of LSU holds the all-time NCAA Division I records for career scoring (3,667) and average (44.2). His three consecutive scoring titles from 1968-1970 are also the three highest single-season averages in NCAA history. Think about how long that record has stood!

    • @rks5457
      @rks5457 Рік тому

      No one will ever break that record because no coach will ever let their player take 40 shots a game, especially if they're shooting below 45%. Both because the coach doesn't want to lose games and no good players would want to play with that person lol. Also no one is staying in college that long anymore. All you have to do is look at the amount of 30-foot shots that he was making. I would say a large percentage of his shots were 3-point range and beyond.
    In today's game, he would be tearing it up for 35 points a game if he wanted to.
    Julius erving and he were both on the Atlanta Hawks won year, and they played each other in one-on-one all the time. Dr. J said that the hard part about guarding Pete, is that he was always checking it up from 30 ft plus and it couldn't be stopped. And when he went out there to guard at 30 ft, Pete would blow by him for a dunk.

    • @rks5457
