Why I Prefer Soluble Fiber- Thomas DeLauer
In Today's video we break down why soluble fiber is my preferred choice. It comes down to the short chain fatty acids that are produced, and it also comes down to how soluble fiber reacts in the body. For many diets, it might be one of the best ways to support a diverse microbiome.

Soluble fiber was the key for me. Mainstream advice just wasn't cutting it. I was eating white rice, bananas, and grains as they typically recommend. It wasn't helping my digestion issues at all. However, once I saw your video about soluble fiber, I started taking 3 teaspoons of psyllium husk supplement and adding more sweet potato into my diet. The change has been remarkable so far. Thanks for helping all of us!

Thanks TDL! This explains a lot of the things I've been telling people anecdotally, namely that soluble fiber helps the body transition into fasting. I was curious though about short chain fatty acids and their role in ampk activation. I kinda wanted the nerdy bioscience if you want to make another video on it.

Prebiotics are going to be shown to be in most cases where we need to focus. Designer probiotics will likely remain important for a short term treatment for certain conditions like Ulcerative Colitis, Crohns, IBS, etc but long term prebiotics are where it’s going to be at. Obviously your big focus is on weight loss but as you show, it likely modulates/regulates many in/outside the colon biochemical processes which alters disease courses. Pretty cool stuff man, love the videos, keep it up!

I have a question about keto and calories that I can’t find an answer for anywhere.
I am 31, 6’ 2”, 280 lbs. When I calculate my Body Metabolic Rate even with no working out my rate is 2700 calories a day. As I eat keto I eat around 2000 to 2100 calories and I am stuffed. Is it bad to eat at such a large deficit? Is that a problem to work out with that low of calorie intake?

    • @Jordaneal

No 2000 calories is plenty. Forget the deficit numbers. I’m in a similar boat (6’ 2”). I went from 290 - 275lbs in 2 weeks with a 2,100 calorie goal, but I often find it hard to reach that. 1,800 calories a day is usually where I land.

lower fat and increase protein if you are already fat adapted. make sure to eat at least 30g-50g of protein with each meal. keep the fat if you need more calories, however if you are not hungry you may not need that many calories anyways since you are burning your body fat.

Chia seeds does have calories and too much calories will break a fast. Generally speaking you want to keep your caloric intake under 40-50 calories that way you can sustain a fasted state. Look at the serving portions and determine whether it’s be a good idea or not.
