To begin with, blame yourself; most of our people are so selfish and stingy that they will not even donate 1 or 2 feet of land when asked for drainage construction, and when it comes to disposing of waste from their home, they will opt to toss it in someone else's drainage. Second, blame the municipal and council for failing to perform their duties and instead lining their wallets while doing nothing.
Exactly.... We should blame ourselves. It's purely a drainage blockage. It rained just for an hour, just imagine if it rained for a week or month and water level raised!!! DMP will be another water city if not tackle with small issue. Every drainage effected areas (not flood) should learn a good lesson from this and it will happen every year if not taken care.
It's not only the garbages thrown into drainage. When people build houses/buildings in Dimapur, majority owners encroach on streams flowing through the city, making it very narrow and making life miserable for all and affecting the drainage system. Not only the citizens and municipal, but the Land Revenue Dept. must also take action on those encroaching.
In this kind of situation, the public can't blame the government or the municipal committees. They have to blame themselves only, for not maintaining the surroundings properly. As we say, a little drops of water makes a mighty ocean. In the same way, if the people starts to throwing the the garbages into the drainage area, then that small garbage will start piling up and that's how it blocks the water flow. So, this is an encouragement to all the publics, not only in Dimapur, but to whoever are watching it, to always keep your drainage system clean, so that we won't have any issues even during the rainy seasons.
Don't say government! government! government! When you don't want to part with a small part of your land for road and proper drainage! News channels should cover contents regarding this in the days to come

Dear brother there's a difference between complaining and pointing out the neglected basic facilities which is the responsibility of the government and it's agencies. Public no doubt have a moral responsibility to take up community services selflessly but then proper road, drainage system, electricity and creating avenues for job and security are some of the basic responsibilities of a government. If not then what is the need of a government? Our age old proven social organizations are enough to live a good life. Just look at the recent repairing of roads by DAYO at Tajen Road. Noble initiative but then it's the government's responsibility to do that. The point being, yes the public can do many things if we decide but reminding the government of it's responsibilities is not same as having a negative or a complaining mindset. Just my opinion.

The concern department should should Clean immediately. It's been already more then 8 years now not clear the blocked Drainage till date & the citizens should stop throwing garbage in Drainage. In Dimapur, people tend to build houses and also encroach every land into the vehicular road and doesn't provide any land for building DRAINAGE System. Just go visit residential areas, people doesn't leave any land so that drainage can be build.

High time for the Nagas to change our work culture and move ahead along with the rest of the world.
