It was all going great until the price. All visible elements are fantastic, both looks and materials, and kudos for the aging part, but movement choice is just bad. Who needs higher beat movement with small seconds, and then the ghost date... It was just for the sake of it being Swiss made...meh. Oh, great find btw!
I can see that. I'm shocked they didn't go for a Selitta here. It doesn't feature a ghost date and it costs around the same amount from my research. Anyway, still a beautiful dial nonetheless. Absolutely a great watch for a military enthusiast.
875 usd? Are you fvcking crazy?
Very nice watch. Great pick. I love it, but unfortunately it is too costly for me. Almost 900$ a bit steep. The name of the brand is a bit weird though. The dial colour is a killer. Lucky you, you get to keep it.
ghost date for 800 bucks no thank you
Fair criticism!
I own a Praesidus DD-45, specifically the model with stark-white lume and a black dial. As I didn't favor the OEM sand-brown strap, I switched it out for a water-resistant Hirsch black leather strap--and now it's one of my favorite watches in my rotation, being specifically *the* watch I wear on weekends. It keeps great time, and is absolutely effin' handsome. No regrets on my end, only absolute satisfaction.
The Serica 6190 swiss made has a 200m wr, sapphire crystal but with a COSC movement at 1000. Traska offers way better specs watches in this cathegory with better specs with a Miyota 9 series with no ghost position at 600.
Great options... But they don't deliver what this watch does with the dial. I don't think Praesidus went for a spec monster with this watch... The cost went into the creation of the dials instead
This needs to come down in price quite a bit. Dial is fantastic, hands very nice. Movement urgently needs to be replaced by something cheaper with no ghost date, some chinese ETA clone I guess. Case is nice but will scratch. At 400$ we can talk about it, at 900$ they priced themselves out of the market.
You know... for this kind of watch... I think I'm partial to actually sticking to plexiglass.
I know, it doesn't fit a premium watch.
But just think about how gorgeous a slightly yellowed and roughed up acrylic would look like on such a watch... A watch like that should be able to wear battle scars and everyday wear down to its crystal, not faking its age by blasting the dial with UVs on the assembly line...
Very nice, I like the tropical one! They've done a nice job here, as you say pretty historically accurate.
Great review, cheers Kieron 👍
Beautiful dial ey? That's why I said yes to this one. I haven't done many 'sponsored' reviews recently. I'm only saying yes to ones that really spark my interest.
Cheers Rik, stay well mate
Its Filippo Loreti's sister brand at premium price
🤣 That might be the worst insult I've ever heard.
I get that it's more reliable and I do love natos, but fixed spring bars suck
So you bake the dial with UVA to look like real patina, then put sapphire on it?
Great watch and they have many great watches on there website, so a year fom now, this beatiful watch will cost $250 not $850 as it it at the moment, and obviously a frew watch is Free, but you, alomg with all the other free watch grabber's on UA-cam are keeping the prices artificially high. I am not critiszing the watch, I am critisizing You. Here is a small example 5 years ago. I bought a San Martin for about $35. now the exact same watch and movement is $120-. so really who is being used here? Not you! But all the poor schmucks that watch channels very similar to your. You get a free watch an "US" get f@@@ked price wise, Chinese advertising is great, it virtually cost them nothing, Of course, if you disagree, please feel free to let me know. I know inflation, but if you use the example that I mentioned earlier, Do you feel a 80% increse is warrented?
I'm sad that you have such a negative outlook towards watch reviewers.
Every company in the world sets aside an advertising budget, to bring in new customers and fans. From McDonald's to Nike. Without this, businesses can't continue to grow.
Small watch brands don't do typical advertising like TV, billboards or newspapers. They go right to the heart of the target audience with us reviewers. They send a watch, with no promise of a positive review, and hope for the best.
Fact is, watches out there exist at these low prices you talk of. Go find them and buy them! You don't have to buy the ones that choose to work with reviewers like me.
Regarding the silly price you suggest for this watch '$250'... You won't even find the movement inside of this watch for that much. Throw in the American assembly where people are actually getting paid a fair living, and yes, the watch is much more expensive than your typical San Martin homage.
If you actually know anything about marketing, It's called Pushing Price, the Americans started it, but the Chinese seem to have mastered it. Here is a challenge for you. Spend the whole month reviewing watches, from snywher, even chins, but try to review ones that are not reviewed by your bretheren of free watch grabbers. I guarentee that you sell the majority of your Free watches to add to whatever income that you get from UA-cam. I bet you canny do it. Good Luck!
You just sound salty because you aren't willing to put the effort in and grow your own UA-cam channel. Spend the countless hours producing your own reviews and then you might get some too. I proudly EARN every watch I get sent.
@@TopTierTicker OK, I appreciate and respect that, unfortunately for myself, I work in some of the worst, war torn, in hospitable places in the world, so even if I could have a UA-cam channel, I cannot si at home and review products of any sort, I leave home for 1 to 3 months at a time, so all my subscribers wiuld be waitng that llong for my next upload. I know that this is not polite but you seem to have fasioned your image as "I am young and still live at home with mum: whether you do or don't is of no business or consequence to me. I do truly wish you all the best, I suppose that even though. along with all the other tossers that review the same watches day in day out, I perhaps picked on you unfairly. My challenge to you is still active. Prove me weong and I will promote, to everyone that I know to watch and subscibe to your chanel.
@@TopTierTicker do you like to drink from the furry cup?
I have no problem with homages. However, the faux patina /tropical dials plus the over-reliance on the narrative sounds like focus group driven marketing. There is nothing new here. That’s a shame. Would be nice for YTs to speak truth to their advertisers. I’d rather save and buy a Vertex, Timor or Longines. At least these companies or their predecessors were part of the dirty dozen.
OK, but it dosent come close to my Seiko brick cocktail
Nice watch, thanks for another great video
These are ali express watches at 800% this thing is overrated and NOT worth half of what they charge.. pass
Please, feel free to enjoy your AliExpress watches. But don't just make things up. The movement in this watch alone costs more than the majority of AliExpress watches.
I don’t know what you want man. You can enjoy your cheap unoriginal Chinese crap all you want but there are people who want to spend a little more for something better.
@@TopTierTicker just because you have a channel doesn't mean anything I know just as much as you if not more
@@TopTierTicker just cuz this company paid you for a good review doesn't mean anything either
American assembled, makes all the difference lol. Love Praesidus, top quality and super good patriots to deal with.
They need to add the Broad Arrow symbol
what about baltany?
875 with a ghost date... That's a real shame.
Yep. My biggest criticism of it. If it didn't feature a ghost date, it would be pretty hard to find fault with it tbh.
Ugh, faux aged dials... How is this historically accurate? Did the watches originally come with aged dials? Was that a thing back in WW2?
It’s not for everyone but adding in aging isn’t so terrible. Modern violin makers for example will do antiquing so it more resembles old Amatis, strads, del jesu for example. It’s not frowned upon and is a skill in itself.
@@therascals8237 high-end violins or other string instruments are not artificially aged. That would destroy their brand's credibility and probably performance as well. A watch is significantly different from a fine violin - much more about looks than anything else.
You've kinda just answered your own question with your latest comment. A watch is about the looks. This version of the watch looks beautiful. Why? Why not.
The 'factory fresh' version is the most historically accurate. The other two pay respect to the watches after use in the field.
And I agree! Aging dials like this is a skill in itself. Especially when they look that good under macro! The dial actually looks like it's 70 years old. That ain't easy to do.
@@TopTierTicker I think you're partially right, but I for one choose to wear as little fake stuff as possible, including watches. These, while nice looking, are double fakes in a sense, and that's a bridge too far for me.
I much prefer this concept of artificially aging a watch than what Longines did with their reissue, where they painted little specs to look like there was oxidation going on. That said, I would still prefer the factory fresh variant and have it patina on my wrist.
Great video!
For me the upcoming SMITHS W.W.W. - PRS-59 is the watch to get, if you are in the market for a dirty dozen homage.
Not a bad option for sure. But I think the dial on this tropical model is 10x better looking.
You better own a lightning fast computer.
I don’t like the bracelet showcased on their website.
I'm not actually a fan either! These are begging to be used on a nato anyway!
It's very rare that modern spring bars actually fail. The fact that they have opted for the standard spring bar configuration offers you both, the option to use two-piece straps or pass-though straps. I personally prefer to wear my watches on two-piece straps as this makes the watch sit better on the wrist.
Great review, beautiful watch. Well done. Enjoying your channel from Georgia, USA. Keep up the great work.
Damn you. I have bought three watches this month but I will list it and hope it is still available
That aged tropical dial is mega and a good Nato strap would elevate this beauty tool watch
Looks lovely and I would love to have one. Kieron, I'm wary about the size though, any thoughts on how it wears? I'm still relatively new to watches in a semi-serious kind of way and have decided that 40mm is the minimum for me on my 7.5" wrist.
That is a big wrist for sure, but I wouldn't reject the watch without wearing it. The small bezel will make it look larger on wrist. The most important factors in how a watch wears are the lug-to-lug, the bezel to dial ratio and the lug width (wider straps make a watch look bigger).
I like Praesidus! Their watches are incredible. The people at the company are very patriotic too.
Great review… thanks!
Thanks for watching!
At a glimpse, i somehow thought the dial said... precious 😂😂😂
Omg first comment! Thanks for getting me into watches!
Very welcome my friend. Thanks so much for watching! 🔥🙏
❤❤❤
Thanks for watching 🙏
Considering the work that goes into them, they're a bargain
Most will only look at the spec sheet, unfortunately.
