Declan’s Beaded Journey - Kids with Cancer Society and Global

When children are diagnosed with cancer, they receive a piece of leather twine and beads that spell out their first name. As they go through their treatment, a colourful bead is added to mark each part of their journey, including surgeries, diagnostic procedures, blood transfusions and special events. The Beaded Journeys Gala event focuses on children’s experiences. Guests receive a rare opportunity to make children’s dreams come true by participating in a unique dream experience live auction. Global Edmonton proudly supports the Kids with Cancer Society by creating special video stories, like Declan’s, and by donating a “Dream to Be A Global News Reporter Experience” for 4 children. We are pleased to say that this Dream Experience was auctioned for $11,500, contributing to this year’s total of $274,855 raised to help kids with cancer.
