The Vine Treasures of Campi Flegrei in Naples Italy

In this On The Road Special Edition, Stevie Kim returns to the Campi Flegrei in the southern Italian region of Campania to discover the wines of the area.
First up, Stevie meets Cristina Varcetta from the Cantine Astroni winery who explains the history of winemaking in the area and the main characteristics of the region.
Next, Stevie speaks to Gerardo Vernazzaro who introduces the winery's flagship wine, Vigna Astroni.
Stevie then sits down with Gerardo to learn more about the region's volcanic wines, including ageing potential, the use of amphora, and the main characteristics of the wines.
Stevie then heads to the terraced vineyards of Tenuta Camaldoli to taste the red wines produced here using mainly Piedirosso grapes.
