As someone who professionally seam-seals tents, I want to say the purpose of seam-sealing is to get the threads impregnated with the silicone to fill the needle holes. It's ok if the rest falls off. Also diluting the silicone with mineral spirits is best to make sure it soaks into the threads.
This goes to show to all the gear snobs that you absolutely don’t have to buy a 500$ pack a 500$ tent a 300$ pad a 600$ sleeping bag and the list can go on and on and on! Thanks Quad! You should do a through hike using some of the military gear ground pounders like us used to carry. Not all the gear just essential stuff! Great video bro
I have a couple of those but that was before my time. I joined up in 98 and they were just starting to phase out the Alice gear to molle but yes either one are great. I actually like the Alice gear somewhat better in different setups
This has been an amazing journey so far & a huge eye-opener to what we perceive as “essentials” as opposed to what truly is. Definitely shown me that travelling across the pond to hike y’all big trails is 100% doable. Thank you. ATB .Wish.
Last week, the Yue 45 I purchased from 3F UL Gear arrived and I'm very impressed to this point, but to be honest, I've only had it out yesterday on kind of a shakedown cruise of slightly over 5-miles and I'm still working on getting it dialed in to exactly where I want it. I also have a Lanshan 2 trekking pole tent that I've slept a few nights in and I have zero complaints with that. I enjoyed the video, thanks!
Was waiting for this vid! Thank you! How’s the comfort of the pack shoulder straps? How’s the weight distribution and overall comfort through the hip straps! Cheers! Love this video series, rooting for you on this hike.
I like a bigger pot too. 6 inch. I have a 6 inch coated fry pan also for pancakes. I have a cheap air mattress that I put on top of my z folding pad. It's warmer and only adds ten ounces. It also makes a good seat for sitting around.
I used that same pack for a trip. Loved every part of it but the hip belt. It was just too big for my waste and wouldn’t hold any weight. I would definitely get another if I could find a smaller belt option.
So neat that you’re doing it on a budget and being transparent with us. I am hopeful for my future adventures - It’s possible! Good luck on the half gallon challenge-Maybe the hardest part of the trail so far eh?😅
Goes to show it's not necessarily the expense of the items it's more the experience of the individual. I like to say it's not the what I want but , the what I need that counts.
this is all great gear. I've always thought that gear can get a little silly for hikers. Spend $3k to save 2kg of weight, vs, just lose 2kg body fat. Same result. It's not like most of us are walking around shredded without a spare 5-10kg of fat to lose.

Ah great info to know thanks

Alice Pack

When it's cold, I use an Ozark Trail zero deg sleeping bag, my military foam pad, a 50 year old external frame pack and 30 year old $100 Eureka tent
I love what you've done here, letting people know they can go on a great adventure without the most expensive gear. May you enjoy your journey!

I’ve used a foam pad on the bottom and air pad on top to give me better comfort before. If you’re carrying it, use it too.

Glad for the update on what’s going on, but where’s the link in the description for those shorts😂
It's all in the gearlist link

I felt like the pack was very comfortable once I included the foam pad as a frame

I like. Short and sweet and to the pint w/o a lot of wasted words. Good on ya.

Fantastic review and update!

Bro turned in a full on shaman after the triple crown 💀
Your next challenge HAS to be hiking the AT with Wet Burrito gear.
🤣 never!!
That inflatable pad is making a whole Lotta noise while you’re holding it. Does it make that sort of noise while you’re sleeping on it?
I didn't see the towel on your list. Do you have a link for that?
I just searched "ul backpacking towel" on Aliexpress
How did the down workout quality wise?

The difference is that 2kg on your back feels more uncomfortable than 2kg distributed throughout the body.
I know you have plastic bag inside, but was wondering how the backpack was doing on its on with waterproofing?
Some, definitely not 100%
Blue sleeping bag/quilt with red trim?
