This is what the Royals do best: Unite the nation and Commonwealth realms together, we need more of this in everyday life.
We traveled to London for the Chelsea Flower Show and stayed for the Jubilee. Rain or no rain, it was fantastic. Spent a fortune for one day in a hotel room with a river balcony. Saw the flotilla and the Queen on her barge go by. I still can't believe I was there, a kid from Oklahoma. I'll never forget it.

I remember watching this on the television and I felt that if there was anytime to feel British that was the time. The country came together and everybody came out to see the Queen on the Thames. She stood up instead of sitting on the chair and took to the boat in the cold and rain. I hope she will get the celebrate her next jubilee!
I was watching this on my birthday which happened to be the same day this took place.
I wish I had been in London when they celebrated the queen's diamond jubilee last year. Now that she has celebrated the 60th anniversary of her reign, she must remain the queen for another decade.

I hope the Queen can reach her Platinum Jubilee next February, then put her feet up after that. Sadly Prince Philip won’t be by her side this time and will be much missed.

The bells that were rung on the Thames are now in St James Garlickhythe and they are a lovely ring of eight and I have rung there
Even though the tax payers did NOT actually pay for this; did you know the royal family get paid a salary of £38million a year, in exchange for the revenue off their lands. Revenue off the lands generated £230million in 2011, so in actual fact, we profit by almost £200million a year from the royal family, not to mention the extra boost from tourism.

I was there. What a wasted opportunity. The weather didn't help. The public wanted to see the queen, but only cameras with long lenses did that. The thames is very wide. How did they think the crowds would see anything ?
The weather was terrible, and the Queen declined to sit on those thrones on the boat. Everybody looked suitably embarrassed and fed up being out in the cold and wet all day. Prince Phillip got ill and didn't appear for the rest of the weekend.
It was wet, windy and cold, but the 86 year old Queen and 92 year old Prince stood (didnt sit) in the open vessel for hours.
It sent Prince Phillip to the hospital, and he missed the Service at St Paul's where the Queen walked all the way
up the aisle alone.
Such a great year for 🇬🇧

The Tax-Payers did not pay for it. Was mentioned several times on the news it was paid for through private donations.
Wonderful stuff that only, we, the British know how to stage. The Queen and our

A little late, but it's titled The Sailor's Hornpipe and dates to the early 1700s.
Just realised I did miss so lot of scenes while I slept in my small room to avoid going out in that typical british weather!!!! Well, a bit regret now...............
that was a joke on the Thames. Phil got a bladder infection, the younger royals disappeared below decks and the subjects got drenched... brilliant...it was like a carry on movie.
It was the essence of British stiff upper lip. The show must go on.

Indeed, but if you do your research you will discover that he is her directly appointed emissary in the Antipodes. The Australian Constition provides that a "Governor-General appointed by the Queen shall be Her Majesty's representative in the Commonwealth . . .". As such, he acts solely on her behalf.

The royal family bring more more into the country than they cost - fact. I for one respect what the Queen has stood for in her reign. I did go to the Thames but could not even get close to the river as every access street was barricaded. This 'public event' was sold off to corporations to take the best views, that was a shame. Thoroughly let down, my daughter didn't see a thing apart from crowds and crowds of people... Should have watched it on the Telly!
they're not complaining about it being on, they're complaining because the BBC didn't do a good job! They showed rubbish interviews and celebrities instead of the actual boats on the river - it was historical, and instead the BBC made it look like the One Show - read more about it at zduk . co . uk
well I'm sure you think you're right. Please don't call people ignorant who want to express an opinion about something you may have a different opinion about, it's what makes us civilised after all, having the freedom of speech, and democracy... it's what out troops are all fighting and dying for elsewhere, spreading the good word to the far reaches of the planet and the ungodly heathens. Slight correction, if I may. The monarchy is not simply an antiquated relic - the Queen still retains reserve powers to declare war, refuse legislation, dismiss the Prime Minister and dissolve Parliament, etc. This is very dangerous. The last time she used the last two was as recently as 1974 when she dismissed the democratically elected government of Gough Whitlam in Australia. I always cast my vote in elections and I have the labour movement to thank for my right so to do, not the aritocracy.

Prince Philip wiping his nose with a glove means there’s hope for us all.
Its crazy! We have just had all this wonderful sun, then comes the time for celebration and its cloudy and rainy. God or whoever has a lot to answer for as it was a national holiday and a time for people to relax or celebrate! Oh well! We should have annexed Spain when we had the chance!
It wouldn't have been truly England if it didn't, but a bit of sun would have been nice
