Regarding that whole discussion about having too many high detail sheet metal hangers ( or more generally, too many dense models) slowing the model down. If the visual part of it is important, I’ve found importing a flat image can be effective, without all the Z fighting. For a joist hanger, if you can get a photo into, say, a PNG file with transparent background that might work. Obviously you’d need different profile shots to make it work well. Probably not worth the effort for 95% of folks, but wanted to mention it for those where the visualization is important.
