I do the same and always have, honestly thought everyone did this. So, if not, so good on you posting this video! I keep it in 1st and keep my eyes moving constantly looking out for possible threats coming up behind me and even from the sides. You are right, to put your bike in neutral at a light absolutely makes you a "sitting duck". You need to be prepared to move quickly out of dangers way. So important! Besides someone not seeing you stopped there, the person that may have stopped behind you may be just raring to take off as soon as the light turns green and not wait for you to put your bike in gear and inadvertently hit you, this has happened to me in my car before because I looked away, the light turned green, the person behind me tapped my bumper. You're awesome Dave!

Thank you very much for the support! I'm glad you are in the habit of doing that! ...way safer! Not doing so puts your fate in the hands of whoever is behind you! Ride safe & have a great day!

    Good safety tip
Surprisingly a lot of riders go to neutral at light or stop sign not safe as stated. Riders need to be ready to go at all times.

When I bought my first street bike in the early 80's, I was so happy I would ride it for hours and hours at a time, just cruising around through Spanish towns until my left forearm would hurt so bad I couldn't even squeeze the clutch lever with my hand anymore and would have to use my entire arm to pull it in. After a few weeks of this, my forearm muscles eventually became stronger and it was no longer a problem.

Ah, the good old days! Yea, I'd ride in jeans up in the canyon all weekend & by Monday I'd have total monkey butt! Take care & ride safe!

What about 1. Starting the bike in neutral and 2. Keeping it in neutral when parked? I've heard so many conflicting views when it comes to both

I always start my bike in neutral because it starts easier that way. Even when the clutch lever is pulled all the way in, usually the clutch is still dragging a little bit and that makes it harder for the engine to get started. This is especially true on a bike that you have to kick-start!
And anytime I park my bike I leave it in first gear because if the bike were to roll forward it would fold the kickstand back and your bike would fall over!
Thanks for watching and for the questions! Take care!
