My girlfriend tasked me with cleaning out her coffee machine while she cooks dinner. Sounds like a fair trade. Your video helped immensely. Thank you.

Worked a treat. Mine was dispensing a small coffee amount when pressing the large coffee button. After the 2 vinegar flushes, when running the rinse cycle, what do you know, large coffee amounts started dispensing again. Well done. 👍

thank you for this demo..I purchased one of these from an Op shop today for $8..looking at just the water tank alone I knew it was going to need a clean but did not know how..you know electrical appliances rarely come with instruction manuals...I suspect apple cider vinegar should work just as well cause that's all I have at the moment..I think it's an item that will probably only get used on weekends...

Put a tablespoon of baking soda in the discarded vinegar water and it will keep your sink also descaled grease-free, and fresh smelling. Watch the cleaning fissy.

Bought this at an op shop but doesn’t seem to be working when I press the buttons, makes a noise but nothing happens

    • @outie555two
      @outie555two  2 роки тому +1

The noise is the pump. So if the tanks got water and you press any button to make it pull the water through the machine but it's not coming out, then you probably have a blockage in a tube or pipe. Hopefully dealing it might pull the vinegar to the blockage and it might dissolve it. But it might not. Potentially you'll need to pull it apart to clear it out

My machine was a hand-me down, more rectangular than what's in this video. I seem to be having a similar problem too but don't believe it's necessarily a blockage:
-water runs through when the machine does it's pre-rinse/there's no pod (like in Outie's descaling video).
The machine's performance when a pod has been inserted seems to be inconsistant:
      -Coffee will dispense OK.
-Coffee will dispense OK become a trickle and go back to OK.
-Coffee will dispense as a trickle and then stop completely.
-Sometimes after making a coffee, the spent pod drawer has a bit of liquid and others it looks like it has tried to drink my coffee >_<
After watching another video that addresses these machines having a blockage, I'm wondering if my machine:
-has valves which need some TLC
-the pump is on its last legs
-to a lesser extent, I think the seals where the pod sits are perishing/have become unseated.
As handy as these little Aldi machines are, I'm more inclined to replace it with a proper espresso machine when this one is kaput.

It's air in the system that needs to be removed. Here's a method that I found which helped me. 1. Switch on the machine and don't forget to fill the water tank with water. 2. Run the pump with a closed lever. 3. Open the lever, run the pump with an open lever. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 from 10 to 20 times. 5. Switch off the machine and try to run it the next day. Actually in my case I had to run the pump with a changed lever position at least 30 times, lol. But the next morning the machine came back to life!

@@outie555two Hold the big cup button until the desired height of coffee is obtained then let go of the button. It is now programmed to that height until you do reprogram it to a lower level again. No need to keep doing a 1/3 of a cup ... waste of a time. IMO

The area actually being cleaned is tiny, essentially just a short tube and spout. You're diluting any crud in that tiny tube with nearly a full litre of water. The chance that you will be able to see such a tiny amount of crud diluted in nearly a litre of water is precisely zero.
