  • This is a messy job for sure, very difficult to avoid making a mess! In this video, you will find many tips and tricks for changing your suction and return hoses on your power steering system. The hoses were severely dry rotted on my Camry, so I never knew if they would fail mid-trip every drive. Share your comments if you see a better way to do this job.

    I have a 07 also looks like they start leaking at the same time. Just have to figure out the 2 sizes.

      Wasn’t available to me at the time, but I think I mentioned it at the beginning that it was a good idea.

    What size was the intake or return hose. I'm working on my 04 Corolla with a leak and was told to change the whole return line

      Sorry, I don’t recall. The car is not even in the same state right now, so I can’t tell you the sizes. I went to Autozone and bought 2 feet of every power steering bulk hose in that size range. Ended up costing about $20, but now I have extra hose for other jobs! Listen closely to the video, I believe I mentioned the sizes at some point.

    When you’re turning the wheels to bleed the air out, are you turning the wheel from full lock to full lock ?

      I try not to because there is a possibility it can cause damage to the pump.

      Awesome thanks man, I have a broken bolt that holds wire tray on my 07 3.5l Camry, I need to drill it out but the power steering reservoir is in the way, so I’ll be making a PS fluid mess today just for one bolt lol.

    Which hose is high pressure and which one is the return?

    • @ijfim
      @ijfim  8 місяців тому +1

      The reservoir doesn’t have a high pressure hose. One is suction to pump, the other is return from rack. The high pressure line comes off the pump.

      @@ijfim do you know which is which?

      I think the large hose is the suction to pump line and the skinnier hose is the rack return. I don’t have the car with me at the moment to confirm.

      @@ijfim Yes correct! And interesting just how expensive the OEM suction hose is! Like $150!!! - for a 2006 Scion tC, that is to say. I'm guessing the Camry one is way cheaper. Looks like you didn't even use the preformed sections. Cool when it works!!!
