A wonderful tutorial! Thank You for Your generosity to share Your knowledge with us! The quality of Your tutorial is great, easy to understand, and detailed! Bravo!
ok so a couple things are different in mine... 1 I got no extra vector points to remove. 2 when It's time to reset the bounding box I couldn't... it wasn't highlighted but dull grey indicating it can't be used... wonder what can cause that?
If you didn’t rotate the vector then the bounding box wouldn’t change rotation, so the reset would be greyed out. Or, if you use the rotate tool, that also doesn’t affect the bounding box.
Thank you for the tutorial. You saved me! Now... For some reason I have a SPACE between my "links" at every point where I stopped making my links - so every 10 or so... How do I eliminate that space? It shows up every time I try to do a continuous rope in my artwork.
It all comes down to how well you aligned your rope segments to the invisible boxes. If they aren’t aligned just right you’ll end up with slight gaps between your final rope.
I can't add colour at the end.I saw you said to change to the method and use tints and shades. I have done this too but doesnt seem to work :( Is this a new feature for a brush? I cant understand why I cant do this :(
Make sure that in the brush options you selected tints or tints and shades. You can double click on the brush to change the options. You should see it under colorization.
The quickest way would be to add colour when you’re making the rope sections. Apply a fill and stroke colour before you create the brush and when you make the pattern brush select ‘tints and shades’ under colorization. This will let you change the colours of the final brush by adjusting the stroke colour.
Ok end result one end is joined fine the other has a split... I followed your Instagram page and will be sending pics... hopefully you can identify where I went wrong and tell me how to fix it
The more I surf UA-cam, the more I notice: The true masters of their craft aren't the ones with a million followers. Ironic. Please, continue to post!

I'm clicking the width tool and the other options are not there... no white arrow indicating the other options...

Not sure what you’re referring to here.

HI do you have a vid to show how I can create a coil or spring? thanks
I don’t have any videos for coils or springs but I will make one.
@@coldrockdesign that would be great I’d like to learn that process...thanks
@Tony Taibi, the video about how to make springs in Illustrator is now live.

@@coldrockdesign I have already done this but its not working, but thank you for the answer :)
How can I fill it with color or add shades to make it look more like a rope? Can you do a tutorial?

Apply a fill and stroke colour before you create the brush and when you make the pattern brush select ‘tints and shades’ under colorization. I find that it helps to try a tutorial several times, it’s easy to miss a step when you’re watching a video. Hopefully you’ll get a better result.
@@coldrockdesign did you see the picture I sent on Instagram?
@Lightning Gloves productions, I didn’t see any images on instagram.
