There's also a variation where one can declare single hand after seeing their hand. The partner puts down their hand and the lone player tries to win all the tricks. If they're successful then they get 3 points otherwise they lose 3 points
@Prashant Tiwari We almost had a fight once when one of us had a single hand without a chor card and another person said that a chor card is required. We looked it up, and some people play with the chor card and some people play it without. So we played it without the chor card
A lot of trick taking games have peculiarities in how they rank the cards, but this one takes the cake. 7 8 Q K 10 A 9 J ... what's going on? Why not use the normal 7 8 9 10 J Q K A and have A = 3, K = 2, Q = J = 1 points. The only difference would be that the royal pair is higher valued.
Me too, I recently learnt the 16 point version from my grandpa. A couple of things I need some clarification about: 1. Why is the game called “29”, when clearly the max no. of points available is 28? 2. Shouldn’t the royal pair match the suit of the trump card?
@sankarshanbhattacharyya4614 The game is called twenty nine because people used to play it where the person who wins the last trick gets an extra point. That makes the total value of all the points be twenty nine. However, people no longer play with that rule but the name still stuck Yes, only the trump royal pair can be used. A royal pair that isn't trump has no value
Given that only the dealer knows what suit is trump suited, If the trump suit for the round was lead by a player who doesn’t know the trump suit, what happens?
The way I played with my granddad is whoever wins the highest bid in the bidding process sets the trump suit. Like poker I think you can just take turns dealing out the cards, but chances are the same player can win more than one bid in different games, so he/she can set the trump suit on multiple occasions.
This is 28 and not 29, in 29 there is an extra 1 point for last hand, and you also did not mention that aces and 10s they both are 1 point but an ace is higher ranked than a 10.
@@Arman_aint_Zaalim If you win the last hand you just are awarded an extra point, so as to make the game more strategic and tactical compared to 28. As sometimes you will intentionally lose the seventh hand i.e second last hand so as to win the last hand, especially if you are on the edge of winning or losing that set.
Finally you uploaded a video of this game lol. It's the national card game of Bangladesh. Way too complex and I never learnt it myself.
I thought it was callbridge?
That's the 2nd most popular
@@reen24388 Everywhere I go they play 29 instead. Can't find ppl to play callbridge anymore

Yes, but they should have atleast 1 chor card i.e That is they need to have atleast card which can be defeated only then single is considered.

This is very similar to a game called 304 (or three naught four) in Sri Lanka :) love the videos you make!
its most popular in bd
Nice video. I love playing twenty-nine. However, we play with a variation where the minimum bid is 16 instead of 15

I would like to get a card deck that has a high quality and the printing on it lasts for a long time, what brand do you recommend

I used to play this so much in college. Only drawback of this game is you need exactly 4 players

What about Double and Re-Double?
just a point to be added: the least bidding point happens to be '16'
This is 28 and not 29, in 29 there is an extra 1 point for last hand, and you also did not mention that aces and 10s they both are 1 point but an ace is higher ranked than a 10.
Also no mention of double and redouble, and no mention of single play.
Can you Please explain about that 1 extra point for last hand??

Like the video but geez that seems like a lot
of complexity and rules for a bidding game. Maybe I'm just provincial.
ikr? It's the national card game of my country Bangladesh. Way too complex and I never learnt it myself.
3:24 wtf?!😂 shouldn't he play the 7 of clubs?
I was going to say just that 😂
I think the whole point is whoever is winning the trick, the opposing team must give them little-to-no points at all.
Our minimum bid is 17
