    Recipe:
    Preheat oven to 350*.
    Makes 3x8”inch layers or 4x6”inch layers.
    - 4 cups & 2 tbs of flour
    - 3 cups of white sugar
    - 3 1/2 tsp of baking powder
    - 1 1/2 cups of whole milk
    - 3 tbs of vanilla extract
    - 1 1/2 cups of softened salted butter or 3 sticks
    - 6 eggs at room temp.
    - 1 1/4 tsp of salt

    Can I add 2 tablespoons of sour cream in the batter and make it in a 12by 18 sheet cake pan

    Mines came out just a little dry....should I take it out the oven earlier or would I need to soak this cake?

      Hi! You could definitely use some simple syrup to help the dryness but most likely the cake pans were filled a little too high and cooked a little too long.

    I have 7 inch pans. Could I get away with not doubling the recipe and use the 6 inch 4 layer recipe instead?

    what kind of flour? can i use cake, pastry or AP? does it turn out different depending which one I use

      Hi! All purpose flour! I’ve never used cake flour in this recipe so I’m not sure how it would affect it.

    Made it 6 times and everytime it comes out gluey 😢

      Oh no! The cake pans might be too full, and not baked long enough. The pan should be about 2/3 full. Check the doneness of the cake by inserting a knife or toothpick in the center, you want it to come out clean. Hope that helps!
