Another great review. I am glad you brought up the SFF alternative. I have often wondered if HP and Lenovo have been addressing a need which really doesn't exist with these mini machines. I have been on many enterprise deployments in my day, and have never seen minis as the form factor of choice. The inconvience of the AC adaptor alone seems to outweigh any advantage the case offers. I like the monitor stand replacing the all in one form factor, but again, I am not sure what problem we are really solving. It's a great machine, but I'll take mine in a SFF, just the same.
Delayed reply, but the main purpose of the monitor integration is that it connects the monitor and provides power via the short usb-c cable. So all you would need cable wise is the power cable for the monitor (assuming you are using some form of wireless keyboard /mouse). Creates a very clean form factor.
I bought one of these off Mercari and wasnt disclosed that it had a bios password on it. I can boot from usb and just to the hard drive. I just cant ever update the bios or do any type of changes in the bios without knowing the password. HP will not budge on helping me because im not the original owner of the system.. All i can find is how to reset HP's Mini's below a G6 like a g5 and lower there is jumpers on MB to reset it. THe G6's and above I can't find any info on it or a jumper. Anyone know how i can bypass this? thanks.
im assuming the gpu doesnt power throttle since it is pegged at 2Ghz on the time spy test. i was curious to see if it would throttle because the 3400ge does and some older AMD APUs throttle the cpu instead. ty much
@@Dovecomputers I will, I've just purchased 2x8gb sticks of sodimm ram for the unit as it only came with a single stick of 16gb 2xr8, so hopefully 2x8gb of 1xr8 will improve the GPU side of the ryzen 7 pro 4750ge

I wonder hoe this will perform if you put in a 4750G (65w APU). That is if the APU is even removable - which I doubt. Guess I'll soon find out since my current PC is a custom built 4750G and just bought a 4650GE HP to play with.
@@stamkaly I never got the 4650GE but I did get an older EliteDesk with a Ryzen 3 2200G and the APU is removable on all these. Sadly you cannot upgrade them from one generation to the next as HP does not update that part of the Agesa firmware.
Hello, I have just bought this unit from a seller on eBay, it doesn't have the vented top cover just a solid all black top, there's no screw in the back either, and I have no idea how to open it, does anyone have the ability to help me with this matter? Thank you
There is a lock symbol on the back with a hole but I don't know what to do with it, do I stick something in there? Sorry I'm not good with this type of thing
@@Dovecomputers it seems very firm, but I'll give it a go when I get back home, I'll report back if I can't do it, is it best to put the unit down so it won't slide whilst I do it?
@@Dovecomputers it worked! Thanks! Just needed a firmer push, my CPU is only maxing out at 3.7ghz, is there anyway to get that maximum boost clock of upto 4.4ghz? Thanks
By default it has dual DisplayPort connections. (You can also daisy chain monitors together via DP) Plus you can also add display connections via the Flex IO modules.
I like the review introduction of this video very much,I have a MINI PC equipped with AMD5900HX. It is a MINIPC with higher performance. I want to provide a prototype for evaluation. How can I contact you? Are you interested?
This device is an engineering masterpiece. It looks like a compelling option for a home based office. Thank you for the great review.
It is! Wish the larger desktops in general were engineered the same way. 👍
The HP 400 G6 DM has proven to be reliable and fast as well, upgrades can be easily done. Dual channel memory speeds up the iGPU.
I tried to get the 4750GE+1660TI for a space contstrained VR training setup, but alas, covid shortages prevented this
I have an earlier model (G3) and it is an excellent mini computer. G6 is also a masterpiece.
I recommend adding wattage from the wall idle and max

It's the RX560 but it's not a huge improvement in graphics, igpu is just fine.

have you tested gaming performance? i'm wondering if it gets too hot during gaming
The G5 model has overheating issues but not with the G6 and the extra airflow through the mesh top.

Any comment on power consumption at the wall during idle / load?
looking for the 1660ti

Do you have to use the external antenna for the wifi or is that optional?
You don't have to but the router or AP would have to be within > 2 metres away.
