WuWa 2.0 is better. I'm a day one HSR player and this patch made me quit and uninstall the game. What a disappointment. Somehow HSR has become gradually worse over time. The 3.0. patch was a new low.
All i can tell you Stix 3.0 storytelling is bad forced puzzles in main story black screens character not showing emotions asking us to click chair balcony and water dialogue being chair is soft and comfy balcony what a nice view water is lukewarm water is room temperature fucking stupid redundant dialogue
Story itself is better, but overall the game has no progress at all or even regress just Like Genshin since 3.0 so I think hoyo games are starting to get really bad after they go into 3.0 I dont know maybe 90% of their work time they do nothing in hoyo
Minor mouth movements, facial expressions and some new model animations can lo a long way. But I suppose Hoyoverse as a small indie company lacks the budget for it unlike Kuro games.
Definitely. Only a large company like Kuro withblots of money can hite a movie director and choreographers to integrate so much detail into the story presentation. A small company like Hoyo just does not have the budget for that 😂

this is just my guess but i think Wuthering waves/kurogames invests all their money in research and development for the game or at least a large amount, i just saw a data miner on social media where he found character "wet" textures in files (only Carlotta) that more or less tells me that they are researching these immersion details to innovate the open world, i think Enfield also has something similar but i'm not sure. the problem with mihoyo and that perhaps many people are realizing with wuthering waves and with enfield is that mihoyo does not seem to invest the money in research and development, but in marketing, that is because hoyogames start to age in a strange way and players start to find a lack of innovation in elements within the games.

Yes. Kuro definitely has invested in a lot of things that don't immediately show, but add value over time. From motion capture to detailed rigging of the models to actors or theater directors to someone with background as movie director. The very login screen has a dolly zoom effect that shows knowledge of precise canerawork. May look like a detail. It is not.
Wuwa did alot of in game engine animation for 2.0 i liked that we clink glasses and drank with Zani and seeing Carlotta’s pretty curtsy when she introduced herself ❤
The presentation and camera shots in Wuwa are absolutely unbeatable. Current Hoyo games will never beat kuro games because they are far too lazy. Even the longer dialogues were bearable. When I hear dialogues in Genshin, HSR or Zzz I fall asleep in record time.

I don't play Zzz anymore either, but it's definitely the best Hoyo game. and the gameplay is okay. You just shouldn't compare it with Wuwa. A decent game.
Even in wuwa there's one side quest involving ex-captain wanting to go hunt treasure behinds the clouds by rocketing his gondola echo using other echos. Though unvoiced, It still has unqiue comedy-like cutscenes for each echos he tried. Quite a funny experience for a random side quest imo

Wuwa's story is simple? Most of my friends didn't even bother with the story because they didn't understand anything from it. It's simpler in rinascita but before that nah.

Super computer has a virus and needs new hardware. But the hardware is a person but not really a person but practically a person, so you say no. 1.0 is a heroes journey. 1.1 is liberation of fate. 1.3 is "human" rights. The thing is, the world of Solaris-3 is so different than ours because of the Lament, there's a lot of layers to the background. But the actual narrative at post is relatively simple.
@Kinben69 Jué was wounded a while ago and foresaw that, through its passing, time would be impacted in Huanlong. It'd be similar to Mt. Firmament but, happening in Jinzhou times 20. Time would be both going forward and backwards and be out of wack. But, Jué wanted to just freeze time so that maybe in the future, people can figure out how to fix the time displacement. But Jinhsi didn't agree with that so she staked on her life on a second resonance awakening by clashing with Jué's frequency and adopting the temporal mandate. I don't remember when Jué was attacked by the Fractsidus I believe it was prior to it finding Jinhsi (Hsi at the time). It sped up the process but it was bound to happen.bJué saw that in the crying the baby was very powerful and decided to reverse time to before the baby died so that she can eventually surpass it, and that's why it chose her as it's resonator.
Even before WuWa and HSR 3.0, I’ve been criticizing how poorly the story has been executed. While I do like the story of HSR and there are a lot of great animated cutscenes, it doesn’t justify it when 80%+ of the story is just the characters standing there cycling through three emotes. Hopefully going forward, this is a wake up call for HSR to put more effort into showing the story rather than telling it.
Last (second) season of That Time I git Reincarnated as a Slime was 80 to 90% people standing or sitting around a table and talking endlessly. Many of us criticized that animated cartoons are meant to show movement. You have no idea how people defended the lack of animation because "that is what happens in the novel". Watching the scenes above, I felt the same. Lazy animation from a team that is more focused in text and voice than in the visual part of multimedia.

The trend is that hoyo games are aging like milk. Genshin started good(maybe too good just because of covid buff) but slowly turned to what is now and is just kept relevant and alive by hoyo's massive cult like player base that loves bare-minimum children scamming slop HSR sadly is now following Genshin's foot steps quite perfectly, they started very well too hence the birth of "Genshin could never" but now people can also say HSR could never with the power creep and atrocious story telling ZZZ is probably next, and let's stop pretending like ZZZ ain't a hoyo game give it 1+ year it would start to show massive issues Meanwhile WuWa is aging like fine wine, it may have started not that good but the longer the game is out the better it is becoming and 2.0 is the best testament to that

I think ZZZ will be hoyoverse's best gacha even tho I'm not really a fan of the combat in it over WuWa, I can still see why people enjoy it, also it's their first game that's released with REAL competition, the "Genshin could never" phrase spawned out of people wanting genshin to get better REALLY bad, but it just felt like Hoyo was trolling us as players giving everything we wanted in genshin to HSR instead, now they have REAL competition and players dont have to settle for lazy slop like the way they tell the story in HSR...
After being disappointed twice now, I'm less optimistic with ZZZ's devs now. I hate it when Genshin's and HSR's devs was treated as if they are from different companies, when they both work for Hoyoverse. They will start better for sure, until Hoyoverse decides they need these "better devs" to work on their newest game, and the old GI and HSR devs work on ZZZ.

That’s just gacha luck. Has nothing to do with the game itself. I’ve lost very few 5050s and gotten very lucky in WW too. There are people who get unlucky in WW. Has no barring on the game itself
@@ezioasasyn2394 Trust me it aint 50/50, especially in Genshin cause I lost my 50/50 TWELVE TIMES in a row and I had enough and quit and found HSR which was great at the beginning as I was winning 50/50 a lot BUT after patch I think 2.5 I kept losing my 50/50 to fricken Gepard and Yanging (I think I said that right), and I quit after the bad story telling and zero voices in 3.0 and invested all my time to WuWa. Reason being is because I have only lost two 50/50, but still have every character besides the 2.0 characters, and the story, combat character designs and exploration was way more engaging then GI and HSR, to me personally.
Nah on genshin and zzz i keep losing 50/50 8 times out of 10 while wuwa i won most of the time. I started doubting the system of hoyo when i lost every 50/50 on genshin except once. Zzz happening the same.
This is just real facts, like Hoyo has messed up so much and so badly I can say this because I have friends who still play Hoyo games and also Wuwa and even they admit Wuwa is much better in many ways.
Yes i like the fact that wuwa nicely split a long 7-8hr quest placed pit stops for us…especially during that elevator scene the game is teasing me “you really wanna stop now?” 😂
As a player of both games, I do enjoy both stories still but ngl HSR's didnt have me as hyped as it usually does. The 3.0 story itself is fine, but compared to the extra movement and camera angles WW has, it did add onto the experience of 2.0. Now I think HSR was always held back by the idle poses the characters do in the shots but I think they can make up for it with camera angles which is what WW did amazingly well in 2.0. Still I think HSR commited to this type of style so most likely the storytelling will remain the same sadly and people are just noticing how bad the way the story is being told now.
Star Rail became more and more of a "Get this character for a certain function", while the older characters objectively lost in power. In WuWa i get characters for their kit and how fun they play. I still play Jiyan, a 1.0 unit, because his dragon ult is cool and his kit fun to play. Also Star Rail delivered (for the money they go), worse content at a slower rate. Their stories always consisted of more and more teasing to the next patch. Meanwhile in WuWa we got a world deciding endbattle with a huge dragon over space time in 1.1. Including getting the resonator of the dragon as a unit AND the dragon as a usable echo. Star Rail would have teased that for at least half a year. The only thing Star Rail had over WuWa, was that things were actually at stake with multiple deaths involved. This turned completely around with all those fake deaths and resurrections in Star Rail.
Bruh i got Jiyan from his rerun and boi oh boi, for a day 1 limited 5star character he is freakin strong. Like my Tower runs improved significantly ever since Jiyan added to my roster. I'm now grinding for his nightmare monke to make him above and beyond what i can already do with him 👀 I'm actually thinking of getting his Signature weapon if he got another rerun coz for now I'm using Jinshi's weapon.
whats your opinion on a new player. Like i want to give wuwa a go but always hate the fact of starting a game late and missing out on so many pulls and character banners. Similar to hsr where i started late and its nearly impossible to beat all chaos memory stages and pure fiction. If someone can persuade me a reason to start wuwa let me know. Because i feel like if i start now somehow wuwa will die down quick and lose popularity or something
@@bobjohnson6131 never play a game, because its popular. Play a game, because its fun for you. I am going to be honest here: New player experience for WuWa is extremely rough. The story in 1.0 from Act 1-3 is kinda bad. After that it just gets progressively better. Already Mt Firmament is REALLY good. I can give you advice from a person that quit at the end of 1.0 and came back at the end of 1.3: Its fun, you get a lot of pulls just from playing. Endgame (Hologram) is a skillcheck. Other endgame (Tower of Adversity) is more of a dmg check (kinda bad, you have to get lucky with echo stats). Exploration is one of the best in the Gacha space: - infinite running -running on walls - Flying (Rinascita only atm sadly) - a lot of small qol insta jumping/grapple points You honestly dont pull for meta in this game, you pull, because you like a character and how they play. I missed out on a free Xiangli Yao, but got him in his rerun, because he was just that fun to play. Powercreep doesnt really exist atm. More of a better design creep. Gacha is better than competition with 80 pity and a guaranteed weapon banner. Still 50/50 on character banner. Tldr; one of the few Gachas that get more fun, the longer you play. Because they genuinely improve the game with each update and you also learn to play the characters and the mechanics with time.
HSR 3.0 for me was kinda... lacking. I wouldn't say the story is boring, but i desperately wanted to skip some parts. Then it suddenly... ended. For Wuwa 2.0 i felt more "engaged" by the whole environment, the story wasn't fast paced either, but it felt more... Immersive, somehow. So I felt less rushed to do it, while in HSR i felt a rush and a complete lack of control of what the pacing was. Graphics and all matter a bit, but HSR felt lazy on the dialogues, 0 expression on character's faces, etc. so it kinda blew it for me. WuWa was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more entertaining, while I still didn't dislike 3.0

It’s a fact that Hoyoverse makes significantly more money than Wuwa on a monthly basis. But doesn’t that make it even worse? Hoyoverse’s games generate ten times the revenue, yet the quality they deliver falls far short compared to games that earn only a fraction of what they do.
I was really surprise to see Margherita actually putting food on the table instead of just making it be there on the table already. The characters continue to hold glasses and clink them as well. Sure it looks a bit awkward, but I'm just happy Kuro actually add details like these.
WuWa will always be a gacha game, but because of how it one upped itself than being a gacha game, it sets the high fidelity standards up a notch. To me it's still a game than a gacha, it's just that gacha term being normalized without much thought that people are missing out
Comparing storytelling is absolutely fair play. But one is an open world action game, and another is a large map segmented turn-based game. So I try not to say one is better than the other because the audience is different. But, like I said this is a comparison of storytelling and style sometimes that can be affected by the combat and setting, I think the conversations around the animation quality and expressiveness in story telling is fair. A cutscene is a cutscene regardless of game type.
I think this all make sense, hoyo has percieved that hsr (and genshin) has achieved trust and retention of their playerbase with how long they already out so they can produce stable/safe content and milk the playerbase to death. The same cannot be said for wuwa (and zzz) to even gain trust they still need to take risk, innovate, and (by the god) listening to playerbase.
and zzz probably will end up like hsr and gi when hoyo decide to release their new game, also dont forget that zzz make a lot less money compare to gi and hsr on their early patch, thats why they keep adding all those qol and content into zzz

5:10 I'd like to add, what makes hoyoverse look so bad here in hsr and genshin as well, is the fact that for that game, something of this quality would be considered a "cinematic cutscene". Think about that for a second. 3.0 isnt as bad as their making it out to be Its not exactly a master class in storytelling But the story itself is interesting it just needs better presentation And proper voice over for everyone

We all know HSR had good story but that but it didnt stop me from falling asleep mid 3.0 quest bro…i dont wanna talk to a butterfly for over 15mins exposition on lore 😅 i rather they show me like how Wuwa does it with the elevator scene, meeting Lorelei, the Averardo vault and the Dirge Dragon… At least Wuwa had some dynamic in gestures and expressions…also Wuwa kindly split a long 7-8hr quest into 3 parts/acts and puts in pit stops for us…
I hate the black screens in HSR, I just can’t get used to them. They had good talking points but they didnt show the Titans that they keep texting about on the bottom of the screen. The butterfly scene felt insulting.
The lack of voice acting aside, they didn't even bother animating mouth movement or any facial expressions. BTW, I found Camellya's favorite spot very soon after I completed 1.4 story, and I can confidently state it's lucky. I pulled two copies within about 100 pulls throughout Camellya's banner.
I would classify WuWa's storytelling as cinematic. It integrates animation, expressions, perspecrive, camera muvements and angles, transitions.... Someone in the team at Kuro knows about acting, movies and camerawork. And it shows since 1.0.
we are so spoilt by WuWa and ZZZ...an ZZZ is part of Hoyo and at a complete guess likely makes less revenue than HSR & Genshin yet delivers a better narrative experience personally
I need to give WuWa another shot. Also my biggest problem with HSR at the moment is the powercreep, and the lack of new preservation character. The last new preservation unit was released I think in April of 2024. 9 months ago. Back to powercreep, I won't spend anymore money if it gets to the point where my current DPS units start struggling.
For me HSR is the better game since for me open wolds are just a pain but i agree the presentation of 3.0 and the endless yapping need some serious work better then Penacony tho imo

Its definitely gotten better with 2.0, but at this point I almost see no point in talking to people the games advocates directly on youtube at length. They just want their circa 1990s fanbase war and trash talk basically. Everything is black and white and just a matter of hurling insults and catchphrases at fans of other games.
I played many gacha game. However, on January 2025 with the release of multiple big updates, I have to give it to Wuwa. Never once I yawn or feel tired exploring the new region. GI doesn't have that much of an impact in their archon quest (Furina just set the bar way too high). As for HSR, I keep thinking when will this end. When will this end. At least the exploration in HSR is slightly better and enjoyable for me compared to GI
Ngl I'm starting to believe if WuWa ever makes a character that is mute or deaf but uses technology to compensate their disability they will probably find a way to incorporate sign language in that character story even if it's just for a moment, the presentation and storytelling is what makes it engaging like how they are telling their current story.

I play both games my current problem with HSR is the hp inflation ang my trash RNG with the main and sub stat rolls and the fact that other characters are still not dubbed, With WUWA its great my problem with it is the unleveled or level 0 echoes can't be used to level echoes, I always overcap my inventory with mismatched elemental bonus echoes ( ex. Haboc damage with a lightning set echo) and I can't play it for more than 30minutes since my eyes start to burn.
There's something very simple in any storytelling, the simple movement of the eyes. You can put 4 people like immobile sticks in a room while they chat, but with the simple act of seeing their eyes move, you already get a sense of vitality in the characters. HSR doesn't even have that. Its models look completely lifeless, it's not just a matter of the cameras, the VA or the staging.
The same kind of thing bugs me with like the Natlan patch and people are disappointed. It’s a matter of preference so some also enjoyed it but not every patch or piece of story is going to be for you or is going to be hitting every single time. Annoys me with like character banners and people complaining about them. One banner is good, next banner “oh this is awful, why can’t we get good banners all the time” when a great deal of people enjoyed the banner 😂 fucking people. There’s always an issue
I always had this je ne sais quoi wanting me to skip dialogue on HSR. When put in the spot side to side like this the difference in quality and presentation is probably what makes me just skip through dialogue or do something else while the unskippable cutscenes play out in HSR or ZZZ to some extent, not a fan of the comic book format (yes i know you can skip there). It's the little details even the little eye movements they make, subtle camera pans and switches and expressiveness that keep you that little bit more engaged and immersed.
This is a F2P AAA Game funded through Gacha system, as much as I despise gacha as a mechanics, It's undeniable that they're at least putting the money they got to good use here! It's also definitely feels like a game that is made with PC in mind, given all the little details and QoL updates they've been doing for the game...
Partially voiced cut-scenes with auto advance are the worst, I'll be listening in on auto play, hear an uncomfortable pause, then realize too late it was one of the characters talking.
HSR story was so boring I started skipping your video LMFAO. I genuinely felt so frustrated playing hsr 3.0 I was completely baffled by how poor the quality was. I believe it is not only hoyoverse slacking off, it is also WUWA 2.0 being a genuine high budget triple A quality.
I didn't get invested as much in WuWa 1.4's story and really didn't pay attention cause I don't like Camellya so I got a bit confused as to what happened in between the end of 1.4 and the beginning of 2.0. WuWa 2.0 is better. I'm a day one HSR player and this patch made me quit and uninstall the game. What a disappointment. Somehow HSR has become gradually worse over time. The 3.0. patch was a new low.

this is just my guess but i think Wuthering waves/kurogames invests all their money in research and development for the game or at least a large amount, i just saw a data miner on social media where he found character "wet" textures in files (only Carlotta) that more or less tells me that they are researching these immersion details to innovate the open world, i think Enfield also has something similar but i'm not sure.
the problem with mihoyo and that perhaps many people are realizing with wuthering waves and with enfield is that mihoyo does not seem to invest the money in research and development, but in marketing, that is because hoyogames start to age in a strange way and players start to find a lack of innovation in elements within the games.

The presentation and camera shots in Wuwa are absolutely unbeatable. Current Hoyo games will never beat kuro games because they are far too lazy. Even the longer dialogues were bearable. When I hear dialogues in Genshin, HSR or Zzz I fall asleep in record time.
Even the gameplay in zzz is so boring. And the 50/50 system in the weapon banner is so pathetic. No more hoyogames.

Even in wuwa there's one side quest involving ex-captain wanting to go hunt treasure behinds the clouds by rocketing his gondola echo using other echos. Though unvoiced, It still has unqiue comedy-like cutscenes for each echos he tried. Quite a funny experience for a random side quest imo

A simple story with great presentation is to me, more impacting than a great story with poor presentation. This is from someone who's playing Star Rail since launch.
Wuwa's story is simple? Most of my friends didn't even bother with the story because they didn't understand anything from it. It's simpler in rinascita but before that nah.

1.0 is a heroes journey.
1.1 is liberation of fate.
1.3 is "human" rights.
The thing is, the world of Solaris-3 is so different than ours because of the Lament, there's a lot of layers to the background. But the actual narrative at post is relatively simple.

@Kinben69 Jué was wounded a while ago and foresaw that, through its passing, time would be impacted in Huanlong. It'd be similar to Mt. Firmament but, happening in Jinzhou times 20. Time would be both going forward and backwards and be out of wack. But, Jué wanted to just freeze time so that maybe in the future, people can figure out how to fix the time displacement. But Jinhsi didn't agree with that so she staked on her life on a second resonance awakening by clashing with Jué's frequency and adopting the temporal mandate.
I don't remember when Jué was attacked by the Fractsidus I believe it was prior to it finding Jinhsi (Hsi at the time). It sped up the process but it was bound to happen.bJué saw that in the crying the baby was very powerful and decided to reverse time to before the baby died so that she can eventually surpass it, and that's why it chose her as it's resonator.
Even before WuWa and HSR 3.0, I’ve been criticizing how poorly the story has been executed. While I do like the story of HSR and there are a lot of great animated cutscenes, it doesn’t justify it when 80%+ of the story is just the characters standing there cycling through three emotes.
Hopefully going forward, this is a wake up call for HSR to put more effort into showing the story rather than telling it.
Last (second) season of That Time I git Reincarnated as a Slime was 80 to 90% people standing or sitting around a table and talking endlessly.
Many of us criticized that animated cartoons are meant to show movement.
You have no idea how people defended the lack of animation because "that is what happens in the novel".
Watching the scenes above, I felt the same. Lazy animation from a team that is more focused in text and voice than in the visual part of multimedia.

After being disappointed twice now, I'm less optimistic with ZZZ's devs now. I hate it when Genshin's and HSR's devs was treated as if they are from different companies, when they both work for Hoyoverse.
They will start better for sure, until Hoyoverse decides they need these "better devs" to work on their newest game, and the old GI and HSR devs work on ZZZ.

@@ezioasasyn2394 Trust me it aint 50/50, especially in Genshin cause I lost my 50/50 TWELVE TIMES in a row and I had enough and quit and found HSR which was great at the beginning as I was winning 50/50 a lot BUT after patch I think 2.5 I kept losing my 50/50 to fricken Gepard and Yanging (I think I said that right), and I quit after the bad story telling and zero voices in 3.0 and invested all my time to WuWa. Reason being is because I have only lost two 50/50, but still have every character besides the 2.0 characters, and the story, combat character designs and exploration was way more engaging then GI and HSR, to me personally.
Nah on genshin and zzz i keep losing 50/50 8 times out of 10 while wuwa i won most of the time. I started doubting the system of hoyo when i lost every 50/50 on genshin except once. Zzz happening the same.

As a player of both games, I do enjoy both stories still but ngl HSR's didnt have me as hyped as it usually does. The 3.0 story itself is fine, but compared to the extra movement and camera angles WW has, it did add onto the experience of 2.0. Now I think HSR was always held back by the idle poses the characters do in the shots but I think they can make up for it with camera angles which is what WW did amazingly well in 2.0. Still I think HSR commited to this type of style so most likely the storytelling will remain the same sadly and people are just noticing how bad the way the story is being told now.

Star Rail became more and more of a "Get this character for a certain function", while the older characters objectively lost in power. In WuWa i get characters for their kit and how fun they play. I still play Jiyan, a 1.0 unit, because his dragon ult is cool and his kit fun to play.
Also Star Rail delivered (for the money they go), worse content at a slower rate. Their stories always consisted of more and more teasing to the next patch.
Meanwhile in WuWa we got a world deciding endbattle with a huge dragon over space time in 1.1. Including getting the resonator of the dragon as a unit AND the dragon as a usable echo. Star Rail would have teased that for at least half a year.
The only thing Star Rail had over WuWa, was that things were actually at stake with multiple deaths involved. This turned completely around with all those fake deaths and resurrections in Star Rail.

Bruh i got Jiyan from his rerun and boi oh boi, for a day 1 limited 5star character he is freakin strong. Like my Tower runs improved significantly ever since Jiyan added to my roster. I'm now grinding for his nightmare monke to make him above and beyond what i can already do with him 👀 I'm actually thinking of getting his Signature weapon if he got another rerun coz for now I'm using Jinshi's weapon.
whats your opinion on a new player. Like i want to give wuwa a go but always hate the fact of starting a game late and missing out on so many pulls and character banners. Similar to hsr where i started late and its nearly impossible to beat all chaos memory stages and pure fiction. If someone can persuade me a reason to start wuwa let me know. @@bobjohnson6131 never play a game, because its popular. Play a game, because its fun for you. I am going to be honest here: New player experience for WuWa is extremely rough. The story in 1.0 from Act 1-3 is kinda bad. After that it just gets progressively better. Already Mt Firmament is REALLY good.
I can give you advice from a person that quit at the end of 1.0 and came back at the end of 1.3:
Its fun, you get a lot of pulls just from playing. Endgame (Hologram) is a skillcheck. Other endgame (Tower of Adversity) is more of a dmg check (kinda bad, you have to get lucky with echo stats).
Exploration is one of the best in the Gacha space:
- infinite running
-running on walls
- Flying (Rinascita only atm sadly)
- a lot of small qol insta jumping/grapple points
You honestly dont pull for meta in this game, you pull, because you like a character and how they play.
I missed out on a free Xiangli Yao, but got him in his rerun, because he was just that fun to play.
Powercreep doesnt really exist atm. More of a better design creep.
Gacha is better than competition with 80 pity and a guaranteed weapon banner. Still 50/50 on character banner.
Tldr; one of the few Gachas that get more fun, the longer you play. Because they genuinely improve the game with each update and you also learn to play the characters and the mechanics with time.
HSR 3.0 for me was kinda... lacking. I wouldn't say the story is boring, but i desperately wanted to skip some parts. Then it suddenly... ended.
For Wuwa 2.0 i felt more "engaged" by the whole environment, the story wasn't fast paced either, but it felt more... Immersive, somehow. So I felt less rushed to do it, while in HSR i felt a rush and a complete lack of control of what the pacing was.
Graphics and all matter a bit, but HSR felt lazy on the dialogues, 0 expression on character's faces, etc. so it kinda blew it for me. WuWa was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more entertaining, while I still didn't dislike 3.0

WuWa will always be a gacha game, but because of how it one upped itself than being a gacha game, it sets the high fidelity standards up a notch. To me it's still a game than a gacha, it's just that gacha term being normalized without much thought that people are missing out
Comparing storytelling is absolutely fair play. But one is an open world action game, and another is a large map segmented turn-based game. So I try not to say one is better than the other because the audience is different.
But, like I said this is a comparison of storytelling and style sometimes that can be affected by the combat and setting, I think the conversations around the animation quality and expressiveness in story telling is fair.
A cutscene is a cutscene regardless of game type.
Wuwa 2.0 is surely better. HSR 3.0 comes with budget animation and 3 famous pose styles.............

I think this all make sense, hoyo has percieved that hsr (and genshin) has achieved trust and retention of their playerbase with how long they already out so they can produce stable/safe content and milk the playerbase to death. The same cannot be said for wuwa (and zzz) to even gain trust they still need to take risk, innovate, and (by the god) listening to playerbase.
and zzz probably will end up like hsr and gi when hoyo decide to release their new game, also dont forget that zzz make a lot less money compare to gi and hsr on their early patch, thats why they keep adding all those qol and content into zzz

We all know HSR had good story but that but it didnt stop me from falling asleep mid 3.0 quest bro…i dont wanna talk to a butterfly for over 15mins exposition on lore 😅 i rather they show me like how Wuwa does it with the elevator scene, meeting Lorelei, the Averardo vault and the Dirge Dragon…
At least Wuwa had some dynamic in gestures and expressions…also Wuwa kindly split a long 7-8hr quest into 3 parts/acts and puts in pit stops for us…

I hate the black screens in HSR, I just can’t get used to them. They had good talking points but they didnt show the Titans that they keep texting about on the bottom of the screen. The butterfly scene felt insulting.
The lack of voice acting aside, they didn't even bother animating mouth movement or any facial expressions.
BTW, I found Camellya's favorite spot very soon after I completed 1.4 story, and I can confidently state it's lucky. I pulled two copies within about 100 pulls throughout Camellya's banner.
It's AI, if the character is not voiced, their mouth won't move because there's nothing to sync it with.

Also my biggest problem with HSR at the moment is the powercreep, and the lack of new preservation character. The last new preservation unit was released I think in April of 2024. 9 months ago.
Back to powercreep, I won't spend anymore money if it gets to the point where my current DPS units start struggling.
For me HSR is the better game since for me open wolds are just a pain but i agree the presentation of 3.0 and the endless yapping need some serious work better then Penacony tho imo

Its definitely gotten better with 2.0, but at this point I almost see no point in talking to people the games advocates directly on youtube at length. They just want their circa 1990s fanbase war and trash talk basically. Everything is black and white and just a matter of hurling insults and catchphrases at fans of other games.
I played many gacha game. However, on January 2025 with the release of multiple big updates, I have to give it to Wuwa. Never once I yawn or feel tired exploring the new region. GI doesn't have that much of an impact in their archon quest (Furina just set the bar way too high). As for HSR, I keep thinking when will this end. When will this end. At least the exploration in HSR is slightly better and enjoyable for me compared to GI

Ngl I'm starting to believe if WuWa ever makes a character that is mute or deaf but uses technology to compensate their disability they will probably find a way to incorporate sign language in that character story even if it's just for a moment, the presentation and storytelling is what makes it engaging like how they are telling their current story.

I play both games my current problem with HSR is the hp inflation ang my trash RNG with the main and sub stat rolls and the fact that other characters are still not dubbed,
With WUWA its great my problem with it is the unleveled or level 0 echoes can't be used to level echoes, I always overcap my inventory with mismatched elemental bonus echoes ( ex. Haboc damage with a lightning set echo) and I can't play it for more than 30minutes since my eyes start to burn.
There's something very simple in any storytelling, the simple movement of the eyes. You can put 4 people like immobile sticks in a room while they chat, but with the simple act of seeing their eyes move, you already get a sense of vitality in the characters. HSR doesn't even have that. Its models look completely lifeless, it's not just a matter of the cameras, the VA or the staging.

The same kind of thing bugs me with like the Natlan patch and people are disappointed. It’s a matter of preference so some also enjoyed it but not every patch or piece of story is going to be for you or is going to be hitting every single time. Annoys me with like character banners and people complaining about them. One banner is good, next banner “oh this is awful, why can’t we get good banners all the time” when a great deal of people enjoyed the banner 😂 fucking people. There’s always an issue
I always had this je ne sais quoi wanting me to skip dialogue on HSR. When put in the spot side to side like this the difference in quality and presentation is probably what makes me just skip through dialogue or do something else while the unskippable cutscenes play out in HSR or ZZZ to some extent, not a fan of the comic book format (yes i know you can skip there).
It's the little details even the little eye movements they make, subtle camera pans and switches and expressiveness that keep you that little bit more engaged and immersed.

This is a F2P AAA Game funded through Gacha system, as much as I despise gacha as a mechanics, It's undeniable that they're at least putting the money they got to good use here!
It's also definitely feels like a game that is made with PC in mind, given all the little details and QoL updates they've been doing for the game...

Partially voiced cut-scenes with auto advance are the worst, I'll be listening in on auto play, hear an uncomfortable pause, then realize too late it was one of the characters talking.

HSR story was so boring I started skipping your video LMFAO. I genuinely felt so frustrated playing hsr 3.0 I was completely baffled by how poor the quality was. I believe it is not only hoyoverse slacking off, it is also WUWA 2.0 being a genuine high budget triple A quality.
I didn't get invested as much in WuWa 1.4's story and really didn't pay attention cause I don't like Camellya so I got a bit confused as to what happened in between the end of 1.4 and the beginning of 2.0. But despite that I was still able to enjoy and eventually follow the beginning part, mostly because Shorekeeper is there, but also the presentation of the story was very visually interesting especially that transition to the flashback with Abby.
I wish I could enjoy WuWa like others do, but outside of Endfield (even that's a big maybe), I don't think I'll ever stick with an open world gacha with action combat.
I don't get it why people excuse this when gachas, ESPECIALLY Hoyo make so much money. Indies do better with less, (good) AAA do better with less, why are we lowering our standards for gacha?

Is really disappointing how Honkai Star Rail hasn't improved anything on 3.0 compared to 2.0. Is funny how we used to compare Honkai with Genshin back on the time and now Genshin looks like they have cooked more with Natlan, and made look Honkai team like the lazy ones

@@Arkwing Always remember the 1.4 patch as the ZZZ clutch. Players are having bad reviews and mass uninstalling the game. They will improve it again if slap in the face once more so I think ZZZ would not be as worse as the Genshin and HSR Direction
