Urdu is a very rich language, being a English literature student I didn't understand most of words he was saying, but I always like to hear Urdu shayeri and also love Urdu language.
my age 63 in our old days all urdu with poetry with language and grammar too so i enjoyed this prog too much i really regret new generation is just busy in tick tok our next generation would be just illiterate
But Still, I will say Urdu and English has an upper hand over other languages. Because Sanskrit and Hindi have lost their ground. Even Northern Indian use to say Urdu more than Hindi (90%).
Not only respect all languages but respect all people , as you would like to be respected yourself. This is the key to a happy and a healthy and fulfilled life.

I love all languages. Being a Punjabi, I learnt four other languages through Punjabi language. No prejudice about any language. Each language is a key to the vast literature written in that language. Any language can be learnt with practice. All languages are your plus points. You use them like clothes. Wear the one which fits the season. Same way, speak a language which fits the audience.

To all the narrow minded people who give a communal colour to the urdu language claiming that it belongs to Muslims is a fallacy being Muslim iam proud to say that it is called Urdu bint e sanskrit (daughter of sanskrit) 60 to 70^ of grammar is from sanskrit and words from khadi boli, Arabic, Persian and Turkish language.
He was my father's good friend (my father was also a writer and an Urdu exponent). Once, at Mehboob studios in Bandra, a passerby, wanting to have a conversation with Gulzar ji said to him "Gulzar ji, main jaanta hoon aap itna acha kaise likhte hain....aapko Urdu jo aati hai"...to which Gulzar sahab replied "toh aap bhi seekh lijiye"! Language is a necessary but not a sufficient condition to be a poet.
Urdu is Lashkari language created in Hindustan include Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, and like a mala in which all are together. Well defined about Indian Urdu and Pakistani Urdu. Our family also belong from that part but here in Pakistan a unique style Urdu including Punjabi, Sindhi and Pushto added. Jaise hum yahan kahtain hain, Saeen kia hal hai. Urdu originated in Lucknow and Dehli ,both in India but unfortuantely India never owned it in true snse after partition. The state of Urdu in India is depicable. Sorry to say but not a single great poet, produced in post partition India, with the excption of Sahir Ludhianvi or Bashir badr to some extents may be. Gulzar saab is a good song writer but poet, I wont consider him as great because he has no big ghazal to his credit. Urdu without ghazal is like cricket but street cricket. All great urdu poets came from the other side of the border -Faiz, Faraz,Saghar,Munee Niazi, Qasmi, Iftikhar Arif, Saghar,John Ailia, AMJAD islam , etc etc etc just to name a few

Once, at Mehboob studios in Bandra, a passerby, wanting to have a conversation with Gulzar ji said to him "Gulzar ji, main jaanta hoon aap itna acha kaise likhte hain....aapko Urdu jo aati hai"...to which Gulzar sahab replied "toh aap bhi seekh lijiye"!

Urdu is Lashkari language created in Hindustan include Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, and like a mala in which all are together. Well defined about Indian Urdu and Pakistani Urdu. Our family also belong from that part but here in Pakistan a unique style Urdu including Punjabi, Sindhi and Pushto added. Jaise hum yahan kahtain hain, Saeen kia hal hai. Jab koi Punjabi, Urdu bolta hai, aisa lagta hai jhoot bolta hai. Pristine Urdu is only found in Awadh zone, the land of Nawabs
Urdu originated in Lucknow and Dehli ,both in India but unfortuantely India never owned it in true snse after partition. The state of Urdu in India is depicable. Sorry to say but not a single great poet, produced in post partition India, with the excption of Sahir Ludhianvi or Bashir badr to some extents may be. Gulzar saab is a good song writer but poet, I wont consider him as great because he has no big ghazal to his credit. Urdu without ghazal is like cricket but street cricket. All great urdu poets came from the other side of the border -Faiz, Faraz,Saghar,Munee Niazi, Qasmi, Iftikhar Arif, Saghar,John Ailia, AMJAD islam , etc etc etc just to name a few

Tum naa hote ghalib toh yeh gulzar bhi tanha hota naa jaane phir koun yun anjuman mein nigahein garhein inki laffjo ki CHUMBISHON ko sunn raha hota.

Ferry Ferry really man javed akhtar is a good poet?? he has stolen many gazals.. search for abhi kuch din lagenge stolen from iftikar arif.. u dont seem to know the great poets like mir,galib and jaun elia.. listen to them.. scriptwriters like gulzar,javed won't even stand a chance..
