    I love that a company as innocuous as vacuums and air purifiers can be so exciting because of the insane design and engineering efforts that go into the Dyson products. Reminiscent of the early days of Braun and Sony.

    That robot roller is something I’m surprised no other manufacturer has attempted. If it doesn’t pull forward too hard on carpet and can truly deep clean, it would be the best all floor cleaner head imo.

    These are all honestly quite interesting machines. I’m surprised the submarine attachment doesn’t fit on their brand new released cordless. Seems backwards to me. And the robot looks cool but I’m also surprised dyson did not join in on the self empty train. I have a feeling the robot won’t do that well like the previous one due to cheaper machines simply doing better. I’ve used the same robot in my house for 4 years and I do still love it. But I haven’t found anything that could seriously replace it at a decent cost. That new air purifier honestly looks ugly to me. But I understand Dysons thinking due to them wanting the best performing air purifier possible. All great stuff from dyson and cannot wait to see the reviews from you!

    I’m ordering that 360 VIS NAV when they go live. My original 360 Eye is sitting under a shelf because the charger stopped working. I’ve been using my 1953 Kirby Model 513 as the substitute for the 360 Eye. But I don’t mind using a historical vacuum from my Kirby collection. It’s the oldest Kirby in my collection when age comes down to hours ran and used in its life. For a vac built in 53 and rebuilt once in the 80’s, the 513 keeps on cleaning! Eat your heart out Dyson upright fans!

    • @MaryB_TN
      @MaryB_TN Рік тому

      Agree. I totally don't understand why Dyson abandoned innovating their uprights. I get that they started focusing on cordless models for lighter and easier use, and many people don't install carpet anymore in favor of hard floors. But tons of people still have carpet, and a deep carpet clean requires powerful suction and agitation that only a corded vacuum can offer. Dyson is really only competing with other brands in the cordless market, while other manufacturers like Shark, Bissell, Miele, etc, continue to innovate for carpet.

    Dyson's own videos show a ridiculous amount of hand-maintenance required for the Vis Nav.

    I am always happy to see new and interesting solutions in existing product categories, so I am interested to see how well this side vacuum competes with well tuned side brushes as seen on the Roborocks. 50min is concerningly short though, especially considering they appear to have given an estimate for the lowest power setting and, combined with an apparent lack of an auto-empty station to make the robot more autonomous, I feel the same way I did when first hearing about their initial two generations of robot vacuums: Interesting implementations, but missing what the market really needs.

      Roborock is Chinese and charges $1,599 in US for an inferior version (S8 Pro Ultra) of the same robot they charge $800 for in China (G20). They region-lock the Chinese version so it won't run outside of China, even on VPN. So if Dyson can stay close to that, they'll have a winner.

    apparently dyson have patented a bleeder valve for the motor head of the gen 5 or its successor. it will enable the gates to be eliminated or left closed and still not suffer from clamping to the rug, which my gen 5 does even with the gates half open on most of my rugs, my v15 did not have this drawback. of course its due to the added power. I hope this bleed valve is able to be used on a gen 5 compatible motor head.

    I use a Miele canister vacuum. My friend has a Dyson Gen5 Detect. I don't like it. I hate having to keep my finger pulled on the trigger and because the motor and dust bin sits high on the stick, my wrist gets sore when using. I would rather have a stick vac with the motor and dust bin on the floor, like a Gtech AirRam MK2. Miele also has a cordless vacuum with the motor and dust bin on the floor but I haven't used it yet. I would like to get a cordless vacuum but the Dyson isn't it for me. I hate the cheap plastic and Candy Land colors too. I will stick with my Miele canister corded vacuum for now.

    I personally had to go with the s9, the dysons run time actual reports from users has not been good not to mention no version of a clean base makes it feel heavily overly engineered like they took a shark and slapped a bunch of dyson chips inside of it. I feel for the price it should definatly have some version of a clean base and i think this years model will have a substantial run time issue compared to the advertised time.

    The submarine as an attachment is pretty interesting, but I can't believe that Dyson, *Dyson*, specifically can't develop a modular stick and robot that uses the same motors and filters as swappable. Just imagine dropping the bulk of that Gen5 into the robot the same way they're showing the HEPA filter swap. Selling 2 things is better than 1, I guess, but it's not like they wouldn't price a bundle in the same atmosphere.

    • @davidc2072
      @davidc2072 Рік тому

      I'm sure they can, but the one thing I dislike about them (and many other companies such as Roborock and Apple) is they save features for future iterations. Like v15 was awesome, but wasn't available with Outsize option, and didn't have a button like the v11-based Outsize. Now Gen 5 has everything (button, detect, outsize, swappable batteries) that people have been asking for for years, and now they introduce submarine that it won't have. Roborock's Chinese version of the S8 Pro Ultra (G20) has an option to be plumbed into water line, but it's not on the S8 Pro Ultra. They'll eventually release it outside of China, for double the price (they're egregious about this--at least Dyson isn't charging so much more in other markets).

    Purchased the new Robot. It's a great deign and has potential however its software is buggy as hell! After three hours of scanning the room it stopped and said 'software error'. I find that it gets lost lots. After rebooting the thing which in its self is quite a mission to get through, it does work correctly. However a few days later I'll have the same issues. It also does strange stuff when I tell it to go to a specific room and clean. Today told it to go to the bedroom and clean on auto mode. Yes it went. to the bedroom, stopped for a few seconds and then returned back to the dock! WTF???? I then retried it again and this time it went to the front door area, no where near the bedroom, and stayed in its hunting for its location mode while it bounced from wall to wall. After physically returning it to the dock an rebooting it, it finally went to the bedroom and cleaned! BUT it finished the room and then decided to clean everything else on its way back to the dock. As it did so it looked like it was back in its bump and ride mode with no clue where it was. It eventuality made It back. What was strange is that it never uploaded its map it does every time it clears with info on where it went and how much dust there was etc. Anyways despite being a dumb dumb it cleans very well. Literally like a Dyson stick but Im not doing the pushing. Hope there is a software update soon that will improve the smarts of this. Not really a good idea to release the most expensive robot on the market (In Australia) that is not very clever.

      I think what I wrote ignored the amazing side of this thing. Today I got a msg on the robots little screen that it is time to do routine maintenance. Not only that, it provided me with a step by step guide which reminded me of the visual guides you get when you jam a photocopier... genius! Lastly I've noticed that this thing really and I mean REALLY excels on wood floors. Ive noticed that they are not just clean but they shine almost like they were polished. I imagine this is an unintended effect of the roller. It's seriously noticeable. Also the amount of dust around the house is significantly less. Brisbane during winter gets very dry and dusty and it is a challenge keeping up with it. Yes the battery life is not fantastic BUT it's sucking cleaning and filtering way better than anything else. The rubbish container is big and holds quite a bit. The only annoying thing is that the dog hair gets stuck in the metal mesh ring however I keep a paintbrush by the bin to dust it off. Honestly I thing the self empty thing is a gimmick and you would be locked into buying the special bags for that thing and what if the device out lives the supply of those bags? I don't think any have BUT the Dyson is built so well and works so well that it very well may live and continue to work for a very long time. Can't wait to see what other preprogrammed surprises pop up with this machine.

    The Dyson Submarine does not vacuum and mop at the same time. The motor is disabled when in submarine mode, and power is supplied to the attachment, for rotating the microfiber mop head. Each function has to be done separately. The Dyson Submarine fails to offer the one benefit of "hard floor cleaning wet/dry appliances" which is - doing two chores in the time of one.

    $1000 for a vacuum cleaner is outrageous. It doesn't matter how good it is, it should be unacceptable. I bought the V11 torque drive in 2019 and it was $600 and to think that in 4 years they have almost doubled the price is ludicrous

    • @alexanderjamieson7971
      @alexanderjamieson7971 Рік тому

      There are much better vacuums for that price and cheaper, they just don't spend money on marketing like dyson and shark

      It's the HEPA model and it's on Amazon now - geni.us/LeWbf. We hope to have a video done on that line soon(ish). btw - that is an affiliate link. There was a great sale on it during the last Prime day sale. We hope that comes back again!

      @@VacuumWars Thank you. I understand now. Hey... I've not seen a video with the Mach V1 Ultra mop. Do you have any plans for that one? If I missed it, apologies!

    That hepa filter on the robot will be a double edged sword. It’s going to clog and need cleaning so much it will hinder the effectiveness of that machine. Even if it self emptied it wouldn’t clean the filter. Having owned a Dyson detect, I can confirm that it will blog that filter in minutes or even during or after only one run. I don’t like the hepa filter idea if only because it will make this a maintenance queen.

    I thought 0.1 microns was easier to trap than 0.3 due to brownwinian motion at sizes smaller than 0.3?? The chart you flashed makes no mention of 0.1

    The best thing about these new vacuums is that they are going to be way cheap. I'm talking less than $1000 for basic models. If you want extra accessories it might be a little over $1500, at that price they are giving them away.

    Dyson should go back to the drawing board and design an effective way to clean the heads! As some parts are tedious and difficult to clean

    Let's be honest, camera navigation is crap. Lidar is the best and the only way I'd buy a vacuum.
