Sadly, yes. I have a grand permission. I find tons of stuff there. But I ONLY have permission to look and collect. I don't have permission to bring friends, I don't have permission to take pictures of their property beyond in-situ photos, and I surely don't have permission to video their property and surrounding lands and post it to the internet for 10's of thousands to see. I don't blame Zach Byrd for doing it, but if he wasn't explicitly given permission to basically make a TV show of this, I can see the owners having animosity towards it all. And what are the owners gaining? Nothing. I doubt they're being paid rent for the land, or given a portion of the finds even. It doesn't take much to overstay your welcome.
@@jasongrams3504the land owner probably found out they were selling artifacts and probably told to many people the location and they got tired of people stopping by and asking if they can come out there and dig or the land owner seen some shit they didn't want to see on their property. I've got a few nice locations that I tell nobody about and take nobody except for my wife sometimes when the weather is nice
Zach we hate to hear that about Copena Hill. A lot of memories were made for sure. We hope you are able to find another site to share your finds. Good luck and keep us posted. Take care my friend! 👍
Hey Zack, life just ain`t the same without regular adventures! Hope you guys are all doing well, can`t wait for some cool new content. Be well; abd ONWARD! 😊
I have some pieces I found years ago when digging my ground out for a swimming pool…I’m in the trail of tears area. I found several pieces that looked like they would have been used for skinning animals. I don’t own that property any more but I wish I had kept searching . Love all your beautiful finds
I was having a bad day & your video brightened up everything! Keep up the great videos to keep me inspired!! Best of luck on better & greater finds! (Arrow head hunting is just a fantastic hobby and no hunter are ruining any archeology sites if they are staying out of mounds and ceremonial mounds, this is just a ridiculous concept, keep the government out of it. Finders keepers to whatever the land owners allow!)
Sounds like it’s time to hit the Cherokee and confederate gold spot again? I’ve been wanting to see that cave dug out since the second I subscribed lol
I'm super busy right now with Middle School and High School softball + travel ball with my daughter. I'm still getting out when I'm able and I am filming. Just haven't had time to put any long form content together. Hopefully after school ball is up I can hit the ground running.
My heart hurts for ya. When I lost my permission on my most precious site ever I went through depression like a death had happened. I ride by now and always say a little prayer of thanks for all the time I had and all I learned.
So sorry you can't dig at capina hill. You guys found alot of cool beautiful finds there. I could barely even see where that hole was when you guys back filled it. Never seen ANYONE do such a great job at that! I hope ya'll can find another place to dig! Im in Indiana and cant help but if i was down there i would definitely let ya'll dig!! ❤
The owner may have gotten leery of drawing attention to their land with all the artifacts you're finding. Before you know it the state shows up and wants to do archeological digs and turn the place into a protected site.
Well Zack all I can say is get you a good drone and start searching up and down that creek your next too. Natives never stayed one place to long so I’m sure they moved up and down that same creek and you could check around other creeks close by but my guess they liked the food source they had with that creek. But good luck and I hope your back to creek walking out digging or metal detecting again soon. Keep up the great researching digging and finding.
looking at the arrow heads, I'm curious what type you are finding and if you know what tools were used for? ie carving? In college, one of my projects was to map the thousands of arrowheads from Mesoamerica, and I would clean them with acidic solution, and then look at the edges under a microscope and document the scratches. Each scratch leaves a unique polish mark(scratch) . If you are mapping where you find them, you often find them in areas where they would make these, and 40-50% of the time they would break, and would find piles of broken and chipped stones, not sure if you tried making any of these, but a good project. Also from the video near a stream where you found the native american markings, its seems like a nice peaceful area thus that may have been the place where they would bring the stones back to work on. Have you found a area where there is an abundance of that stone? most likely they collected and traveled with it to the peaceful spot, the native american were very intune with their surrounding, and thus you found a great spot, and the land owners are very lucky. keep this spot secret, the youtube community will descend on the property which you do not want. also be careful about showing the large swaths of land, you can reverse engineer that picture to locate location.
Sorry to hear it, Zach. In my experience, people generally lose permissions when they abuse the land or advertise it. I am 100% positive you haven't abused the land, but your videos give very detailed views of the land and the surroundings. Maybe the owner just found your channel, or has been thinking about it and decided it's more than he's wanting. Maybe people are starting to show up to his property. People at night with spotlights. Who really knows unless they tell you, but sadly it is probably something you did or related to the whole process, or I feel like they'd say why they're kicking you out like saying "We're selling the land, planting here next week" etc.
@@will_Iam61had an archeology feller come to my property once to tell me I should stop digging up the artifacts and to let him and his people dig. Found a great spot in Valdosta GA right down the road from the army national guard armory a tiny little creek runs the length of a mile long peanut field the farmer was pretty cool. Never seen another site like it stuff everywhere I'd like to go back after they harvest the peanuts again but unfortunately every time I've been back it's full of green peanuts. I'm sorry guys, I may have told the land owner there were a bunch of guys having gay sex on his land. It was just a joke that he took way too seriously
If you didn't know that all Indians hills are protected by law from being dug up even on private property. So if any federal agents or native Americans found out about a hill that is considered a historical burial sight whether discovered or undiscovered they can get a injuction and law suit and even demand the return of all artifacts shown in the videos. It's been law like this since the 50s .
First of all, who's to say what an "Indian Hill" is? There are hills all over the place and just because you may find a point on a hill, does not make it a Native American site. Did Zack ever find remains on his "Indian hill"? No. And I'm sure they are not stupid enough to not report it if they did find them. In NC we have very obvious circular Indian Mounds, and yes these are protected sites. But the site these guys are digging do not contain any of these mounds. They're simple rolling North Georgia hills that natives enjoyed because they could look over vast amounts of land, were out of the flood plain, generally kept the bugs away, and provided nice breezes in the hot summers. Second, you're absolutely wrong. The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act clearly states that it is not federally illegal to excavate Native American objects from any site on private lands with the landowner's permission. It is only illegal on federal or tribal lands (meaning on a reservation). There are several states that regulate this through State laws, but Georgia is not one of them. Don't go spreading false information you know nothing about, bud. It is perfectly legal to excavate anything you want to other than Native American remains on private land with permission from the owner. Now when you get into the subject of Native American remains, the laws are very clear and strict about reporting these to the proper authorities and ceasing your dig. The majority of "Indian Sites" are not burial grounds, they were simply seasonal camps and villages.
That is an incredible site! I hate yall lost it! That just sucks!
As an older relic hunter, I can see where you might have drawn too much attention to the site. Keep your next site on the down low, and good luck.
Sadly, yes.
