It never ceases to amaze me how a whitetail bucks six sense kicks in, wind is right but they know something is wrong and the count down has started at Three, Two, One, GONE! Great Shot great video
Huge congratulations again Garrett...that is a true public land giant and you earned every bit of him! Well deserved! Sam did a great job on the camera and it's clear that you two make an excellent team in and out of the woods!
Thank you for all the great content and congrats on that beautiful buck. You two are a great team. I really enjoy the attention to detail and how straightforward and understated you are.
Dudeeeeee hes a studdddddddddd That spot looked super thick And id say for the circumstances you were in that shot couldnt of been better. I love how u added where the buck was when you shot to give us his point of view. That my friend is true genius
Great video. You showed the arrows result . Heart penetrated. That forward shot is one of the deadliest shot a bowhunter can take. Most hunters don't know that. Well done !
Congrats Garret and Sam. All your hard work paid off! I agree with Carl Trano. Thanks for including the deer's view. That is very helpful for us newbies. Great video, as always.
Great buck and great shot. The frontal shot is deadly if you practice like crazy and know your placement. I knew when you showed that deep red spray at the impact site you were golden. Congrats 👏👍
I used a FOB that slides off the back upon impact just leaving the lighted nock. I have other videos on it and the modifications I'd done to leave the nock intact.
Their hard work is getting that monster out of thick tough woods, but it is all part of a successful hunt, your right EW, no gimmicks here, that buck is not going to get up and walk itself out.
The calmest I've ever seen anyone after just smoking an absolute stud public buck lol! Congrats you deserved this one no doubt. Also super cool your wife got to experience it and film it!
You do not need to ever second guess yourself for that shot. I would have taken it without hesitation. I have, several times. In my experience it is more deadly than the picturesque broadside shot. You train for it, and you are well prepared to execute it. I understand you can always learn from the experience in hindsight, especially because you film it. However, in the moment you were focused and ready. Don’t let a camera change that. Congratulations, well earned.
Nothing wrong with high fiving and celebrating the kill. I would much rather see the raw emotions and celebrations than nothing at all. They're hunting a big buck, not attending his funeral.
@@mztd912 i think a lot of UA-cam hunters over dramatize & over exaggerate it. There is nothing wrong with however anyone wants to react to killing a deer. But I do like to see hunters show respect in a different way, that's me personally. If their way of doing it is by high fiving and smiling & doing a break dance, good for them. But I personally don't like that. I think its possible to be excited and ecstatic at achieving something that's very difficult, but still being compassionate, respectful, & even a little remorseful. A life was just taken. Idk, every time I shoot a deer, the first thing I do when finding it is saying thank you and apologizing. But again, that's just me. To each their own.
@@thedeercamp I don't think anyone really tries to act excited or over dramatize it, I'm 99% sure the emotions are real and not fabricated. Shooting a giant whitetail buck is truly exhilarating for many people and so the reactions can seem very over the top but it's as real as it gets. The worst hunting shows are the ones where they shoot a giant buck and they cut out all the emotions and excitement after the shot and just cut straight to the dull face interview. Or even worse, the hunter shows no emotions and just mumbles at the camera like it's just another day at the office. I'm glad many guys on youtube are keeping it real and not trying to be too "hollywood" about it. And by that I mean they don't "act" calm after shooting the buck, they let loose. They show the shaking, the slurring of words, the tears of joy, the laughter, hooting and hollering, the high fives, the hugs, the air punches, everything. That's how it should be. I don't consider it being disrespectful. Everyone enjoys hunting in their own way and some people really do get excited about killing a giant buck. I know I do, and I hold nothing back. I soak it all up. And I get excited for my buddies or family that shoot a deer. I give em all the high fives and hugs and all the hooting and hollering, hand shakes, attaboy's that they deserve. Those are memories we live for and memories we never forget.
@@mztd912 i definitely understand. I didnt mean it was disrespectful. I guess it's just a "to each their own" thing. It's possible I'm just a different personality. I don't think the guys that aren't acting overly excited are acting calm or they're cutting out the parts where they were high fiving. I think they just have different control of their emotions. Matter of fact, I just today shot a 198" buck I've been after all year. It's been very tough and mentally exhausting. After the shot, there was no celebration because even though I shot it through the heart, there is still a sense of worry. After finding the deer, there became a sense of relief. As always, I apologized to the deer. All my hunting buddies around me were celebrating, high fiving, making the comment that they felt they were more excited than I was. As happy as I am, there is a connection with that deer I've felt and at no point did I feel the desire to do a dance and high five that he is now dead. Idk, maybe I'm just a real boring guy at parties lol. I guess we all have our own ideas on what we like to see and how we personally respond to things and that's a good thing too.
i had frontal shot on a big 9 pointer, i was 20 ft up and and he was 10 yds away. i didnt take it and have been thinking if i should even if i was on the ground. this video was really helpful. fortunately I saw him again Nov 10 and he was broadside.
I’ve been following your channel for awhile, and it’s great to see you arrow a monster! No one deserves it more. Not one of those farmed deer most people are hunting in the Midwest
Amazing hunt, really cool that you got to share it with your wife. I did have a question about your FOB, I noticed you had a complete pass thru, FOB came off but the Knock stayed on your arrow. In your FOB video you were concerned about your knock coming off or the FOB limiting a complete pass thru if the knock was too tight. Did you resolve that issue? I like your arrow setup and thinking of running the same next year.
Here's a link to the mod I did. I now use Rip TKO 250 spine and drill out with a 17/64" reamer so I don't even need glue. It's just a tight interference fit holding it in place: ua-cam.com/video/6Xal8tAyysg/v-deo.html
Fantastic!! Just like Carl said below...showing what the deer could see, showing the entry and exit, and showing the organs you hit is awesome. Wish every place did that....very informative. Congrats on an absolute stud!! Hopefully you get him mounted. I bet that's gonna leave a smile on your face for a long time!!!!!!!! Ironwill broadheads?
Garrett, Splendid teaching adventure! Confidence in your equipment is, indeed, paramount. Are you shooting "Iron Will" broadheads? I'd be reluctant to take that shot with a mechanical, but your broadhead sure did the job. Also, did the vanes strip off the arrow? Or are you shooting bare shafts? God's best to you both, and Merry Christmas!
I missed this comment initially but yes, I was using Iron Will wide cut heads, and I was using FOBs that I modified to slide on/off the arrow instead of vanes.
Agreed he was ready to get out of there good job getting it done, I hope the drag out wasn’t too far through those blow downs. I’m on one the past 2 days but gun season opens tomorrow so I’ll try to get him that way cause I only have 3 more days to hunt then back to working 60 hours. It’s been fun watching him he is wore out but the 5 girls that’s with him won’t let him rest👍✌🏻🇺🇸
That looks exactly like the buck I shot the yesterday. I got tired of crunching leaves so I took my skid steer and started pushing leaves. I got out walked to my camera and noticed him 15 minutes before I got there in my machine. I threw some brush together. I thought “yeah right” well about an hour later here he comes. He broadside stood 20 yards from me. I couldn’t believe it, I still don’t... but getting him processed and mounted my wallet sure does.
wow congratulations garrett that is a GIANT and for all you have done for all of us you deserve it. Sam you're up next or first! thanks for sharing big thumbs up!
Congratulations. Beautiful Deer! Another great video ,Sam and urself do a great no hype NO “oh look at me “. Just the hunt how it goes down. Great job. Again congratulations 👍🏼👍🏼
After all that hard work and patience trying to read the sign and position yourself in the right spot you earned that beautiful buck. Fine looking set of antlers, tall and symmetrical, congratulations.
You did everything right. Scouting, more scouting, equipment check and testing, kept working hard, minded the wind, didn't get stuck on a spot or method, the setup for shot, shot placement, execution, track job and humility, too. Most any of those done wrong could have botched it. Well done.
Heckuva buck for public land congrats and great job Sam for getting excellent video. Don't let the haters get you down about the shot. The deer is dead and you recovered it. You can get a heart shot from a lot of different angles.

Now the fun starts, it’s going to be one heck of a drag getting that buck out.
Been there, done it, it’s all part of the hunt, memories.
Great work, awesome video. Really wanted to see Sam get that buck in the beginning, but it obviously worked out for you two.

What County in Wisconsin are you Hunting? I have been doing so searching and been wanting to go to that state next.
Congratulations. Well deserved.

Great deer, but I noticed no fleshing on your arrow what's up with that.

Not sure on the score. Thanks!
Nice deer
Good job
