As a kid, I'd be like: "Wow! this is amazing! I'm going to make one!"
As an adult, I'm thinking: "Rubber may not be the best material to use due to elastic hysteresis causing inaccurate readings."
Things become so much more complex later in life!
As always, thanks for bringing back memories. The nostalgia is strong with these videos. :)

@@alandouglas2789 Angry much?
I haven't seen an aluminum cup in forever. Now I want one.
buy yourself some tunas then
I was hoping this clip would start with Deane saying hello to the netizens watching this on their phones. That would have been an impressive prediction of the future.
Yes, good point! Who would have dreamt that a slim flat thing in your pocket would be not only a phone but also a still camera, a movie camera, a tape recorder, a radio, a television set, an encyclopedia, etc etc? Convergence in technology has been amazing!! Deane.
Much easier than trying to steal your sister's hair for the science fair.
Deane's red sweater kinda reminds me of Neil Buchanan the host of Art Attack!
I had the same thought, you know it's good telly when someone's wearing a red sweater lol

"predicting the future"...wow I have come to have high expectations of Curiosity Show, but what's next? Unlimited fusion energy from a jar of Vegemite and a kernel of corn??
Nah, they did that in episode 27
Ingenious!
Thirty years' wondering how a barometer works-no longer.
Next week, using one of these to measure the height of a building.
Howcome thiers a toothpick coming out of the straw?

@@hauptmannoffensichtlich2312 Absolutely correct! Good spotting. Deane.
Great video too bad that one troll had to be the first one to hit the dislike
A tin caaayyyYYYNNN 😂
He pronounced it perfectly aussie english
The title is straight up click bait!
It should be more like,"How to build a barometer to read CURRENT atmospheric conditions". But the rain will be obvious.
Clickbait during the command line era!
That's not very scientific, measuring air pressure in degrees Fahrenheit. It should be degrees Celsius!
Run the segment again and you will see that the "F" does not stand for Fahrenheit, but Friday - the day on which the air pressure reading was taken. Deane.
@@CuriosityShow Sorry, I was trying to be funny.
