      Thanks, yes it is Me and my Dad, we have worked together quite some time. And you cant hear anything in there while working so you have to know without words what to do. Regards Richard, Sweden.

      @@YesterdaysMachinery Many of these farm sawmills from Sweden went to Tanzania in Eastafrika. Diesel engines from lorrys are used to propell them, mostly Scania, Mercedes and Volvo. We ued to buy trees om root, had them cut down and then sawn by these saws that were moved around in the area, then transported to a larger city. Very good profit om that.

      I should mention that a large part of the profit went to schools in an extreemly poor area. This is about 20 years ago.

    Love your channel. Your saw mill is very cool. I'm green with envy. Looks very dangerous though.

    Interesting, haven't seen a mill with a fence before.
    And that blade is just waiting for a careless hand. Yipes.

    Wow the table layout here is so different from us sawmills. There's no dogs. in the US the carriage runs on rails more like a railroad car.

      Yes i have seen those, and those are good for larger logs. But here we dont mainly have any logs larger than 2feet max and then this is faster to work with. / Richard

    Why is it you built the shop? Practical reasons or more like a functioning museum?

    Very satisfying to watch. Nice setup. Is this mill running off steam power?

    • @YesterdaysMachinery
      @YesterdaysMachinery  3 роки тому +8

      Thanks! Not steam. it has a 35hp Beijer crude oil engine from 1938 powering it.

    Snygg video👍 härligt med dessa gamla sågverk och motorer. Sitter själv med planen å sätta upp vårat sågverk igen med en Calmomotor på 50hp. Har renoverat motorn och sågbänken behöver en rejäl översyn. Men detta sporrar mig att fortsätta med drömmen😊 lägg gärna upp mer.

      Hej! Dom Calmodieslarna är rätt starka 😊 Ja det tycker jag absolut att du ska göra! Vart i landet håller du till?
      Att bygga upp denna sågen under 2019-2020 är bland det roligaste jag gjort! Och vilken nytta man har av det. Det är många kronor om året man spar med eget verk. Och jag sågar mycket åt andra också. Hur kul som helst 😊 /Richard i Åseda.

      @@YesterdaysMachinery håller till i södra Dalarna Avesta. Sågen har jag kört som liten eller vart med å kört. Men byggnaden rasade pga tung snö och sågbänken skall tas hem nu och ställas upp på gården. Ståt många år men lite kärlek så går den. En gammal bänk från Rättvik tror jag.

    • @YesterdaysMachinery
      @YesterdaysMachinery  2 роки тому +1

      Nope, 4 generations of mine have used this very sawbench, and no fingers or arms missing since new in 1948. But they are dangerous for sure. Would not be hard to make a big mistake of you let your gard down for a sec.

      @@YesterdaysMachinery Also pays to keep in mind that when this mill was build, people used to wait for winter to use a sleigh for transporting tree trunks down steep slopes (at least in my country). If i had to choose between potentially getting my fingers cut off or having the option of ending under an upturned out-of-control 2 ton sleigh going 50 kilometers an hour, i think risking a couple of fingers sounds like the way better job option.
