You’re not getting analog IIT’s for anywhere under $1k - so even with a 3d printed pvs69, you’re still gonna be shelling out some dough. And you can easily get digital “pvs14s” already for a couple hundred bucks so that’s pointless to do digi + pvs69
I baught a pair of cheap night vision goggles for my sone about 15 years ago. We still have them as they do work very well. They are anywhere near a 5th gen military night vision goggle but guess what, you can see in the dark with them. So if you hear a noise and want to check it out with out drawing attention by turning on a light you would have that option. I highly recomend these to everyone on a budget. Better to have them and not need them then to need them and not have them. Also get a Geiger counter while they are still cheap.
When your opponent doesn't have night vision, these are alright. When they do, you are a lighthouse to them. I've seen people running those, it's a glorified toy tbh.
There's nothing like walking in pitch dark with NODs and just looking at the stars or seeing a coyote crest a distant hill. LARP all you want folks. Just train with what ya got. 1000 hours of traing beats 1000 dollars in upgrades.

What is really needed are these inexpensive binoculars and monoculars that are 1x AND helmet/rig mounting. They can have a zoom, sure, but baseline needs to be 1x. You cannot walk around safely and easily with magnified optics on your face. I automatically skip past looking at anything that starts at 4x or other zoom level for that reason.
Yeah....you could also strap some 24x binoculars to your basecap, using ducktape, and then have the eye sight of an eagle....but you won't be able to walk in a straight line and you will fall over your own feet 😂

Conceivably, the audio recording capability would be to make notes on what you are viewing. It's unfortunate that they didn't get that part right since they chose to include it.

back in the day you could get video camaras from walmart with even better night vision for around the same price or less. I still have mine somewhere. just can't get new batteries or the tiny tapes it used
Different brand, but my wife bought me a pair of these grossly outdated Gen 1 night vision binoculars. She has no idea the cost of real NODS. Yeah, you can usually quickly see better with those than your own eyes, but after a while, your own eyes do adjust and there isn't a ton of difference. You certainly can't fire a weapon while holding these and expect to hit a target. Save your money and get real NODS which are very expensive in comparison. These can often be found for well less than $200, while even a good Gen 4 monocular, even the green are in the ballpark of $3500.00. Move up to white phosphorus and now the usual minimum is about $7500.00. Don't even ask about binoculars or 4 tube peripheral NODS which actually aren't legal if you aren't issued them as law enforcement or military.

So when you need them in a self defense situation in darkness you what? Look through them, aquire target and...ask them not to move and hold steady for a few minutes while you transition to your rifle?
The problem with this device is that you can't remove the batteries as we all know batteries have a lifespan so when these batteries start to go bad there will be no way for you to replace bad batteries You're going to have to buy a new device. I would much rather it have removable batteries that I could install rechargeable batteries which I could replace whenever they went bad
I own a cheap one. Not that brand. Does no sound. Uses 8 AA batteries. Yet. A power battery back. Enhances it. I don't have to use the batteries as well. Will it make that one stronger. I don't know. If you own one of these. Try it. I can see further with mine by using it.
Hey og those are great but not exactly hands free you don't need a helmet just a head strap for the unit kind of like a head lamp flashlight. I will admit if you need night vision that would be alot better for situational awareness. Especially if you are out on a ranch. Maybe even camping because it won't wake other campers when you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night ect. You review is great though.those look to be digital nightvision devices they are great and some models can show the environment in color however they will miss out on better performance in darker areas like in the forest.

@Night-Vision94 and they are crap too. That's why phones get replaced every year or two. Within the first year they already don't hold a charge as long. And that's cheap Chinese garbage there sold at a cheap price, so you know it has their crappiest battery. And, phone charge ports fail a lot too. Battery and charge port are the most common repairs made by phone repair companies.
This is not getting into the nightvision game. This is taking a 169$ step backwards away from being any kind of effective at night observation. This is boomer cope. Old man use your retirement money and buy a pvs14! You have money in your retirement right?
