- Time lapse of some of the work involved in building this structure for my HO model railroad. I mainly used Balsa, with a card stock for the roof, normal printer/copier paper for the tarpaper. The windows and doors are by Grandt Line. Filmed in time lapse mode on a JVC handy cam.
That's a terrific little building.
Amazing video and have an awesome day as well
Outstanding....
Thanks
I needed information on model railroad scratch building supplies my big brother told me to search Elumpa Railroad Buildings Alchemist on google and i would get all the information i needed. Am so glad i did.
Nice video
Great video! Did you get your Balsa just from the hobby store (like Hobby Lobby)? Thanks. Any tips would be great. I plan to build some buildings for my model railroad. Thanks again!
Hi Jacob, thanks for the comment. Yes, I just got the balsa from a local hobby shop. It definitely helps having a selection of plastic windows and doors (like those made by Grandt Line) and also having a pictures of a building or plans helped me decide how the building would look. Good luck with your build! Thanks.
Cool!
You could have done that in 5 or maybe 6 parts, it would have been so interesting, right now I don't know just I've seen, or for that matter, did I see anything !!!
Hi Paul, thanks for the feedback, I understand what you mean. The intention of the video was to experiment with timelapse and a model building project. Maybe I'll do a tutorial style video one day.
Hi Luke, you obviously have the skills, it would help modellers to make buildings & keep their costs down !!
are you really cutting into the wood as you scribe or are you using a pen and drawing scribe lines. Are you planning on making more how to videos? This was very good. Thank you
The balsa is nice and soft so the pencil lead scribes shallow line as well as leaving a mark which helps with the Illusion of the shadown of the join of the boards. I'm pleased you like to the video, unfortunately I don't plan to make any more at this point, I'm finding that time for modelling with a young family is challenging enough without adding a video into the mix. Maybe one day in the future as time allows . Thanks for watching hope you enjoy the channel.
Thanks for answering this question because I was wondering the same as well. Your model turned out great btw.
Very nice. Do you sell any of your creations?
Hi AFK4Realz, unfortunately, I don't sell any models. I enjoy making them as a hobby. Thanks for your interest.
How did you measure for HO scale?
Hi Martin,
I took measurements from other ho scale buildings and also used a online HO scale calculator to convert measurements.
You got waaaaaaaaay too much free time bud.
