I am sure you had schools like that all over the world. Especially those when parents where poor, i believe they are called boarding schools in English. I have a pair of gloves that work really well for opening stuff. It's a leather-like one that you can wear and still use a touch screen device, but yeah. Very good at opening bottles and jars.
It's not the strength we have difficulty with, just the grip.
