It's almost like they knew what to keep original so it still had some of its aged charater. Honestly did not know they'd work on older models or take apart an oldie and replace a spring. That's such a great job. Chapeau to the artisan that did that work. Way to go Case Repair division!!!!
Great job indeed!!
I had to come back to this video to show a family member what good customer service Case has. I still can’t get over what an amazing job they did. I can’t say that I know any other knife manufacturers that would be willing to completely restore such an old product. Second hand even! Absolutely baffled.
I too was amazed buddy.
@@KnifeDetector can you send me the address to Case
As a Case collector I am so glad Case came through for you in such a spectacular fashion. What a beauty. I really like how the blade was done. Kind of an old blade new blade combo. Congrats.
Thanks!! I love this knife, I’ve been mainly carrying it in special occasions :)
Man, that is a true thing of beauty with utility; I guarantee you that whoever worked on that really enjoyed it!
I feel the love buddy!!
Uncle Henery is also a good knife!!
WOW! Amazing work by Case! Fantastic restore! Congratulations!
Now I’m thinking it’s time I send a few older Case knives back to the factory.
I couldn't be happier wit the results :)
Would make a great video
I got a nice Case as a reward knife for safety from the company I worked for and the company name was engraved into the handle. It was a single blade, lock back and it was my every day carry knife. One day I dropped it and a large portion of the tip broke off. Someone suggested I send it to Case for repairs. I figured the repair couldn't be as much as a new knife, so I sent it in and waited to hear from them about the cost. After a few weeks I was starting to get worried and it came in the mail. Since they never contacted me with a quote I just assumed that they couldn't fix it and just sent it back. Imagine my surprise when I opened the package and the blade was new and the rest of the knife was polished like the one in this video and ZERO COST except for the shipping to send it there!
Case is an Awesome company !
Didn’t know CASE would do rework on an oldie. I picked up a 10 dot 1970 sunfish with jigged wood handles from a customer, unsharped , opens and closes so good . That yellow handle stockman on the table looks like an old John primble . I’m amazed that they had a spring for your case ,glad you got good results.
Thanks buddy, was very pleasantly surprised:)
Who doesn't love a happy ending? Terrific. Glad it all worked out for you KD. Have fun!
Some knife makers have wonderful customer service and warranties. Had a folding hunting knife, company name starts with an S. Loose in the hinge, bent pin I suspect. Had it for years before finding it again, sent it in with a letter to explain on a whim. Was surprised, got a brand new knife back.
Nice!
Congrats on the Elephant Toe. Like you, I found one about 18 months ago. It was in slightly rough condition, and I was able to restore it. For the wood scales, get some Howard Feed-N-Wax wood polish. It's beeswax, and it works great to keep the scales nourished and shiny. I use my Elephant Toe for some kitchen prep - cutting small potatoes and onions and such. For the bolsters and the Case shield, Flitz works great to keep them highly polished. Again, glad to hear that you found one that you love.
Thanks for commenting friend, take care.
Beautiful! Congrats on receiving a wonderfully restored knife.
Thank you!!
I'm a collector of knives as well, my most precious (yeah, Gollum style) knives belonged to my dad, and both of my grandfathers. Three perfect blades, dad's was a skinner he bought as a kit at a black powder rendezvous, his father's Uncle Henry pocket (some call it a "pen") knife, and my mother's father's (in Scandinavian that's Morfar) what I called his everything knife, and old beautiful Mora. Anyways, listening to you get all excited and exuberant about your knife, and she is a beauty, got me thinking of my dad and kinda brought a tear to my eye. Thank you.
Thanks Stephen:) I too love hearing stories about knives being passed down. Be well :)
That is a beauty. The pitting actually adds character.
Agreed!!
Case repaired/restored a knife for me also. It had ben carried for years by my Father-in-law. I had the same experience. The knife came back looking like new. I gave it to my son. And there was no charge. I was amazed.
They are an awesome company!!
What an awesome company. That’s real customer service.
Yup, absolutely!!
This is where I got my name. I used to collect elephant toenails from Case! Yours is better than new! It will be EPIC to EDC this!
Thanks partner!!! I love this one!!
Fantastic repair by Case.... congratulations!
Thanks!!
While driving through Pennsylvania a few years ago I came upon the Zippo Case Museum, factory, and store. I had to stop. It was a great place. I spent a couple hours touring. I’ve since been back and toured to see it again.
I would like to go there on day :)
I happened to be able to go to the Case factory some years ago and I brought my great-grandfather's Case knife which was in poor condition. The bolsters were missing but the blades were still pretty good. The springs were shot. I asked to have it repaired. It was very old, probably from about 1900. Some weeks later I got a bubble type envelope in the mail as seen in this video. When I opened it the knife was in the same condition as when I dropped it off. The note in the envelope said that the knife was too old and could not be repaired. I was very disappointed but understand that the knife was probably over 100 years old.
I'm happy that you had a good experience.
Thanks Tom, I guess I just got lucky
Wow! They did a great job bringing your knife back to life! Yes, definitely use it and love it. That’s awesome!
Thanks buddy!!
Just like a kid on Christmas morning! I'm happy to see they were able to get it squared away. Kudos to Case for a great job on the refurbishment. Enjoy carrying that beast!
It did feel like Christmas :)
Wow! Just a little newer than the two I picked up at a flea market the last two summers One is a Granddaddy Barlow and the other a 5” Toothpick both Case CV I marvel at the work Case/Zippo did but my wife’s late uncle once told me he sent a Zippo with a broken hinge in that had a coin soldered to it and Zippo replaced the case and soldered his coin to the new case!
Enjoy your beauty amigo!
Dang buddy!!! Great story!! Case gives individual attention, I love that !!
@@KnifeDetector
I really enjoy your videos
Old time American made quality knife , and great customer service ! Got to love em.
Nice, I'm not a knife collector but often see old knives at estate sales and storage unit liquidations. I had no idea there's such a demand for certain vintage knives. One I picked up recently is a very old craved bone handle switchblade model. The switch is bent and I can't get the blade out to ID it. But it's about the size of your knife maybe a tad thinner. Thanks for the video. It's very informative.
That's a great repair job. 👍
I don’t think you could have done much better unless Case sent you a new knife. What you got back is unique looking as well. It shows old rusty knives can be made to look really interesting if given the right care. I think the knife still has all the original parts except the for the bolster pins. The back spring just needed the corrosion polished out and buffed. I doubt Case would have a new one to replace such an old knife. I have one just like your knife; if you look, you will find the shield is pinned to the liner too.
I believe that Case is criticized as an excuse for some people buying all China made knives.
You sent a knife in for warranty repairs that was 51 years old and Case fixed it and sent the same knife back to you. Even if you had to pay for part of the repair, you got one great deal. That simply does not happens with a $12 dollar China made knife. That is one very good reason for buying Case Knives.
The important part of sending a knife to Case for repair is following the directions required to return the knife. I sent three knives back to Case, one for a loose blade, one for a bad back spring and one for a crack in a cover. Case repaired everyone and returned it just like yours. Out of 88 Case knives, I own the other 97% of them had no defects needing repair. 🔎🔪🔍 🙂
I am truly impressed 😀
Wow that blade is like a storytelling emerging from its flawless cave. Really beautiful combination
Thats a piece of art, not a pocket knife!
I'm so happy to see that Case fixed that beauty for you!
Thanks partner!
It's one of my favorite case knives. The pitting makes it look so cool. Very nice factory fix
Thanks 👍
I sent in two knives to case. Both had handle issues, one cracked and one that was discolored. Neither were as valuable as your knife so they ended up replacing both of them. One must have been out of production because the bone handle was a different color but the same pattern. I was well pleased with this result and agree Case customer service and craftsmanship are great.
Yes!! Absolutely great customer service!!
Turned out nice! It’s good they left much of the same knife. 👍🏻
I think after looking at the inside, it’s all original except for the new pins
This is why case is 1 of the only great knife companies that hasn't shut down yet because of their customer service and quality
Absolutely!!
You definitely should get a Oscar for the drama!!!! Lol
Thanks I think so as well :) 👍😀
Awesome on so many levels.
I know right !!!😀
Fantastic work. I am so happy they treated you way better than they did JB. Knives are meant to work not hide in a safe, you are right to use it. All the best.
Thanks buddy, I’ve already been carrying it for a couple of days :)
Fantastic!
Beautiful knife!
I had my peanut I purchased new in 1970 when I wore it out I sent it to Case in the early’90s paying shipping there it came back like new. Original blades stayed in the knife. Nice knife you have.
Thank you!
That's awesome looks beautiful
Congratulations That's a classic beauty.
🙏
I have carried Grandfather's knife for many years after inheriting it from my late Dad in whose pocket it resided daily for a long time. Almost every part of the knife has been replaced because of wear or damage from mis-use, but it is still Grandfather's knife!
I received a case knife for Christmas a couple years ago from a friend. The blade was loose. I sent it back to case. It came back perfect.
It was so great to hear how excited and happy you were. Fantastic video that made me joyful to watch. Congrats!
Thank you!!
It’s better than anew knife because you’ve got patina that a new knife ain’t got! Lucky you fab knife mate I’d love to own one like that just love the chubby blades , I’d carry it every day. Thanks for the vid good one
Thanks friend!
This made my day!
Congrats buddy!
Shout out to Case!

Well done Case
KD you have the attitude I admire in a knife user and that's using and enjoying all the knives you own 👍😀
Thanks buddy!
That is one beautiful knife!!!!!
Thank you!!
Collected knives for over 50 plus years last just gave my collection to my son I had that same style with the elephant carved in the blade excellent condition. Plus many more case knifes. The old xxx ones all models
That sounds like an amazing gift to pass along ❤️
Case did you good, KD! Hard to imagine a grail looking even better, but that did!
I think the fact that it is original just makes it better :)
Case is top notch 💯
Wish so bad I could be the one to do that work, I buy and do it myself, love seeing that
Very cool!!
Beautiful knife
As an avid Case XX collector, I was very disappointed when I sent a 35 year old pocket knife my wife bought me before our wedding. Mine had a broken handle and the tip broken on one of the three blades. Like you I got it back about 6 weeks later untouched, and a letter saying "sorry but there were no castings available to fix the broken blade nor the handle was available either. I was devastated as I used to buy several Case brands each and every year for birthdays, retirement gifts, and Christmas gifts too. Since they wouldn't honor their warranty I haven't bought a Case in ten years.
I’m very sorry to hear that, sometimes I think I just got lucky.
Stunning!!! I bet that one will be in your pocket more often than not, buddy. She looks amazing!!
Thanks!! She is currently in pocket now :)
Lucky you! Lol sweet!
😀

Yes it is!!
Hes so happy. About every l, little thing. Thenknife is impressive, and i believe they might have ploshed that backspring too, when he said its new,.but i could be wrong. But its very nice what they did.
Beautiful knife 🔪 mr.chimichangas it's a beautiful piece senor take care of it wish I had one
Thanks partner!!
Reminds me of Buck customer service, they try to keep the nostalgia or wear of YOUR knife and just repair the form and function. So much more work than just shipping you some replacement, says a lot about them I think. Pretty awesome.
Thanks!!
You have a wonderful treasure there my friend! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks partner!!
That's beautiful knife done up nice
Good for you!!! Carry it, maybe another will come along layer that you can put away.👏👏👏
Yes, that’s my hope 👍
Just remember your knife safety " when using a knife, always cut towards your wife "
😀
Wow, that is amazing!
That's an impressive bit of warranty service. Great video 👍
Thanks amigo!!
They charge for repair. The last one I did was $25.00. It's not a warranty claim.
All these Knife Nuts seem to not see that these envelopes are equipped with handy opening strips. So, just one pull and your package is open.
No knife needed.
……
And yeah, also guilty here 😊
Nice job by Case by the way.
That knife is incredible!!! They did a great job with it.
I don’t blame you. I would carry that one too.
I am glad to hear that. I collect Italian switchblades and hope that I would be able to get such good support from the manufacturer.😊
You carry that beauty with pride! It would be a shame to hide it in a collection somewhere.
Thanks partner!! I most certainly will!!
Love the knife and the excitement. Congrats, keep up the great work.
Thanks buddy!!
