Case XX Trapper with the yellow handle has been my deer hunting knife since I was 16 years old. I'm 55 now and I have no idea how many deer, elk and antelope it has taken care of in the field. It doesn't look as pristine and shiny as it once did but it will still take a razor edge and this winter it will be put to use again.

Do you have a problem cleaning the inside of it of like blood and dirt? Since you can't take apart the handle.

      The Boy
All you have to do is put some lubricating oil in the pivot if it gets gunky and work the action of opening and closing the blade. Simple huh? These knives are the easiest to use and take care of. No need for tools to take it apart.

@@-Sun1111- I have a case x changer I used on deer, I usually just cleaned out with soapy water to remove the dried blood and then made sure it was dry and put it away. Now it does not look show room new, but I did use the heck out of the knife. The leather case has a nice patina.

Can you imagine the collections some of those long time employees must have?? I have to assume they are allowed to buy the Case knives, I would love to 'pull' a particularly stellar piece buy it and put it in my collection and someday be able to tell my grandchild 'I' made this knife...… It would be a bit like a Detroit auto worker buying a '65 Mustang off the line and telling their grandchild the same thing!!! If I worked there for 40plus years I'd own hundreds of knives......

I usually lose one mini trapper a year, I just go and buy another one, but I will lay it down and leave it somewhere before it’s over, I laid a case knife down in a old barn when I was about 18 cutting twine off of hay bales and my cousin found it laying on on the same board on the wall where I left it about 38 years later, it had The letter m burnt into the wooden handle from a magnifying glass, he said, I bet this is marks knife, I couldn’t believe that knife laid up there that long, but it was because they quit stacking hay in that hay loft

What's with the rough edge grinds though? I purchased a CV Sodbuster and the edge was almost serrated it was so rough. I thought it was just the Sodbuster, but an Aussie friend purchased two trappers to test a CV & SS both came with rough edge grinds. Quality finished blades, but very unfinished edges. I don't worry about it cause I stone and strop the majority of my knives, but for the uneducated...not going to be the best experience...🤦‍♂️

    • @xCreepyKidsx
      @xCreepyKidsx 3 роки тому

I recently received a cv sodbuster and it's mirror polished and sharp as a scalpel out of the box. Meanwhile a Buck toothpick I also got came dull as a butter knife. Factory knives like these are a crapshoot you can't expect $200+ handmade quality from machine made knives with minimal human finishing.

I love Case knives, have several, my current EDC is a Case. But the quality is not what it used to be...my latest ( a mini copper lock in navy blue bone) is cosmetically flawed, should never have left the factory. I know I'll get replies to send it back, but it would have to cross the border twice, postage, etc. makes it not worth the whole. Too bad for me.

Something is not right . Case knifes quality has gone down . I will no longer by a case on line I will only buy a knife in person because of quality issues I need to see each knife and try to find one with the fewest defects .such as large gaps .uneven grinds bad points
And rubbing blades .I hope they can get it fixed because I love the brand and love it when I get a good one.i hate to say it but the fit and finish on some Chinese knives is more consistent.

even $12 rough rider knives have a more consistent fit 'n' finish!

  • @Ryantrock8888

Be careful! Do not purchase a case knife without inspection. They’re nothing in comparison to Case knives of the past, and even rough rider knives. My medium stockman looks as if the person making it was in a gulag during ww2. Kinda like those unpainted tanks ya know? My dads pocket worn trapperlock also has a visible scratch on the handle, but is otherwise a great knife. Quality control needs VAST improvements!

    This was 2019?
Post Covid, many of the workers moved on and did not return.
As a result, CASE quality in craftmanship has suffered, A LOT.
Right now, Chinese made Rough Ryder knives are every bit as good, and sometimes BETTER than Case.
I am not happy about this fact.
