I did a variation of a "temperature " blanket. I started last December & created a "sermon" blanket as a gift for my pastor. I kept a notebook of the scripture he used on his sermons each week. [AM & PM Sunday services]. I had colors assigned for the books of the Bible. I used the brick stitch for each row and antique white as a divider row. It came out so pretty. I am giving it to on Sunday.😊
I'm still working on my 2023 temperature blanket. Long story short, I hated doing rows, and completely lost all motivation to work on it till earlier this year. I took into account that average was kinda boring, but I didn't want to do the high, since I live in Michigan, and we get COLD days! So, I found a pattern for a mini granny square, and I'm using the low, average, and high temps in a 3 round sunburst granny square! And to join them I'm planning on using a yarn color for that specific month to surround those specific squares! I'm no where near finishing, so things could change! But that's what I'm doing ^-^
I am planning something similar for the year we were married. Will put it together in the format of the calendar with white squares for the blank days and a purple square for our wedding day.
I made a temperature scarf in 2022. It still felt like a chore sometimes even though it was small so I'd recommend that if you want to make a temperature blanket, try a scarf or something small first.
Ou imagine a solid like border of maybe black or white and then when it’s the month row there’s like a BRIGHT coloured tassle ahh I might steal that idea that would be so cute
My grandma taught be how to crochet as well when I was around 12 and I have been picking it up more recently these past 3-4 years as I have gotten older. I have made so many cute things and Iam currently finished my 2024 temperature snake! and this year I feel like I am ready to do my first blanket EVER. I have watched so many videos on how to prep and this is the video I needed thank you so much! I hope anyone else out there wanting to make a temp blanket or are still working on one I want to wish you good luck and YOU CAN DO IT. It is so rewarding at the end.
I used to crochet when my kids were little. They are now 39 and 41 and I haven't crocheted since. But...a temperature blanket crossed my feed today and I found you. Just got back from the store with a few skeins of yarn and a crochet needle. So, January 1 2025 and here I go beginning this year long journey. Thanks for the tips and inspiration. 🎉🎉
I still want to make a temperature scarf. I highly recommend using excel to log your temperature and mess with the programming of the cells so it tells you what color you need.
I started a temperature blanket in 2023 I think I stopped somewhere in May! I’m feeling inspired to finish it after watching this video! I chose linen stitch so the blanket doesn’t get too big and I’m doing two rows of the coloured I picked for the border between each month. When I started that blanket I was enjoying it so much I started a historical temperature blanket for 1973!! For the 1973 blanket I did linen stitch squares with 1 row for everyday, I finished this in record time because it was a good take along project and I could work on it anywhere.
I've been bullet journalling for over 5 years, including keeping track of my mood each day: 😭😐🙂😁. I'm going to do a mood blanket this year, and theoretically I could backdate it a few years too
I just finished my 2023 mood blanket the other day! It looks so amazing and beautiful to see the progression of your mood throughout the year! Best of luck!
I think I want to make one that is very similar to yours but with sparkly yarn for the rainy days while still sticking to the color temperature stuff and maybe something similar for fog and snow. Thank you for the great video it helped a lot!
I would also highly recommend looking at previous years (highs/avg/lows) temps and making sure you will likely get to use every color for your new blanket. Example: if you map out last years average temp and you don’t get to use cherry red for your hottest day, consider either using the high temp instead or using a different color pocket so you get to use cherry red.
In 2022 found your Tik Toks about the Temprature Blanket and then I went to your youtube channel and watched you through the proccess which led me to decided to make a tempreture blanket. I choose to start making one in 2023 as a lot of things were happening that year they were important to me. I have loved being part of the journy and look forward to seeing you complete you Tempurature blanket!!
I started a temperature blanket for 2024. I'm doing granny squares where I have the low, average, and high of every day. I did my colors as such: Black: 105+ Red: 104-94 Orange: 93-83 Yellow: 82-72 Green: 71-61 Blue: 60-50 White: 49 and below Something extra that I'm doing is I'm also finding the average low, average average, and average high for each month and finding the averages for each season. I mostly did this because I didn't have a clean cut off without it looking odd so I had four additional squares. I'm also, using the seasonal averages, going to find the overall average low, average, and high for the whole year as a boarder. What I'm doing to make sure I stay consistent (Especially since I had some things pop up this year) was I only worked on it every four days. When the fourth day hits, I catch up and add them to my blanket. It helps to have a pattern like this. If I worked on it every day, I'd get bored.
This has been so inspiring!! Thank you for talking about your progress and the hiccups along the way. Truly made it magical. Can't wait to see the finished blanket one day 💜💜
You can also do different patterns! I saw one where you basically make 12 granny squares white 31 rows each (1 row for each day and 1 square for each month) and for the shorter months you do the extra rows with a border color and then you sew them together
Hello, just found your channel. I'm working on my 2nd Temperature Sampler blanket. My first Temperature Blanket was done in 2023 and we did every other day and each month we change to a different stitch, which I loved. This year I will be doing a historical Temperature Sampler Blanket for my 50th Anniversary. I love samplers because you don't get bored and if you do you know you only will be doing that stitch for 1 month. I will be keeping up with the temperatures everyday for the year Dec 1975 to Dec 1976. I have all of the temperatures for that year so it won't be hard to keep up. Your blanket looks beautiful.
I'm so inspired! I want to do one for my son from the temps for the place and year he was born. But I also love the manifestation idea... 😬 There are SO many choices!
My first crochet project was a temperature blanket for 2024, and I surprisingly kept up with it throughout the year even though I had so many extra curriculars. Im gonna make a 5 row border with a border color, then the aferage for each month, then the border color the the average for the year, and then the border color to finish it off. I love your videos, and I hope you keep up the good work!!
I've done a temperature blanket for my daughter's first year, starting on the day she was born and ending on her 1st birthday. Each month, the date of her birth is double crochet (the rest are single) with 3dc popcorns for the date (in groups to match the number of the date in ddmmyy format). I've then done an envelope border with her birthday for each of the 9 row down each side and the top row and bottom row are her 20th and 21st birthdays. Ive nearly finished one for my son too, up to his 14th birthday now but have to wait most of a year till his 21st to finish the last row.
I don't crochet and I'm not planning to, because I'm not talented in that way, but I really enjoy watching the videos on your projects! I have a hook rug project that is small that I want to do in 2025. It sounds silly, but I'm worried about it because I've never done it before. It is part of a kit. When I was 10 years old and in Girl Scouts back in the 80s, we had a cross stitch project to do. I accidentally sewed the project to my pants during our meeting! I laugh about it now, but I was so embarrassed at that time, that I never wanted to sew again.
I first came across your videos when you started your temperature blanket and it inspired me to make one too. I used colors to match my 2 cats and it came out beautifully. Mine was for 2022 as well & I just finished it a month ago! Thank you for posting these videos and for the inspiration!
A mood blanket (like a mood tracker in a journal) would be cool too. Oooh or a phases of the moon blanket?! Another thought I had was a temperature snake plushie, so it’s less commitment, a much smaller amount to crochet. But the excel spreadsheet trick sounds like the best tip ever.
New subscriber here. We moved into our new home in August. Although I do crochet, since we moved (into a different climate) I am learning to weave, so I am going to weave a temperature blanket, one square made up of daily temperatures per month so my loom can accommodate it.....this will fit into my lifestyle and home much better than a massive blanket. Thanks for the inspo......now to look at yarn!
my 2020 blanket is staring me down. I am at the end of August and haven't picked it up in several months. I currently plan to set myself the lofty goal of having it finished by the end of 2025.
Great advice, even for a weirdo like myself who rarely, if ever, choose a “traditional” style blanket consisting of rows of SC stitches. I insist on using granny stitches (or something similar to a granny/cluster style) or granny squares 😂. I have no idea why I always gravitate toward that method…I probably AM a weirdo! 🤪 lol. Thank you for putting this all together for all of us! Appreciate your hard work and sharing your experience and knowledge. It really, really helps all of us, regardless of where we are on our crochet journey! Thank you! Very happy happy holidays! ☺️🎄🧡✨ xx
This video is exactly what I needed, Holly! 💯 I love how you break everything down, making it an achievable and enjoyable project for anyone! Thank you for sharing your expertise!❤
I just came across you on Tiktok and jumpes over here for the longer video. You gained a new follower! Im brand new to crochet and am trying doing a blanket this year!
Me, having moved from Nashville to Seattle, stumbling across your temp blanket tutorial. 😂 Thanks for all the tips! Excited to start my Seattle blanket tomorrow!
Thank you so much! I am planning to start a 2025 template blanket and have been looking for a video that explains gauge so I can find out how wide to make my blanket. This one was amazing!
French crafter here and first I really want to say : HOLLY MOLLY I didn't think it could be so cold in Tenessee xD For mine I think I'm just gonna put a tassel on each side to mark the end of the month, so it's not too much in your face and it ads a bit of fun Love your channel so much, as a beginner it's really teaching me a lot !!
When you were talking about what you should do for differentiating the months, I automatically thought of fringe or tassels! It's simple enough that you would only have 12 on each side of the blanket, and it wouldn't take too much attention away from the blanket itself. Not to mention that you wouldn't have to undo the blanket to add in more rows to tell the months apart either but adds that little bit of extra flair 😊
You got the celsius right! Although, at least for myself in Vic, Aus, anything above 40C is a rarity and happens a couple of times a year at most. I'm thinking of doing one next year and my temperature pockets will be
I used a past year. I used the day I met my fiance 2/15 and went to our first Valentine’s Day (coincidently a year) I did a special heart row for the day he proposed ♥️ It’s a 6’x6’ monster and I love it. 🥰
I haven’t crocheted since I was, I can’t remember how old except for the last few things that I’ve done to start, reminding myself how to, and all I ever did was a chain. I have a list of simple stuff for my bearded dragon, but after seeing temperature blankets & well, learning exactly what they were, this is definitely on my list of projects. It may or may not start out as 3x3‘ then I’ll do a bigger one later, but I’m DEFINITELY going to do one.
In my temperature blanket if there was a full moon that day I would add an extra row, I used pink. I also put in a row for my husband's, daughter's and my birthday when I got to those dates.
Great video and I love the idea of using a spread sheet to keep up with all things temperature blanket. I remember when Microsoft included the Excel program in free with Windows under MS Office suite, then they began to charge. Today Google Sheets is 100% free (as of this post), while Excel is still part of the MS office package which is still way over priced... unless you are a business.
This year i made a mistake of trying to do a bunch of christmas gifts, i had a mild breakdown when i realised that i HAD to stop and if I didnt it was going to become a serious issue. Im glad i realised and accepted it and stopped because pushing through - i have seen and heard so many horror stories including for my mum!
Maybe you could do a surface stitch in a neutral color (like black, white, cream?) between the rows to differentiate the months & add a border of that same color. Just a thought. Looking forward to more videos. Can't wait to see what you decide to do 😊
i’m from brazil and will be doing a high and low blanket. i didn’t think the highs really represented my city, because most of the year is hot, but the lows in winter can get near 0°C. so i’ll be doing the highs and lows for each day and the amount of stitches for high/low will represent the amount. of daylight! i saw this idea on reddit and thought it was genius!
I printed a blank calendar and dotted down every day's temperature with the colour. The leftover granny squares I made handbags. from. This year I'm doing a mitered square blanket. One square a week. It's stunning, lots of Oranges and Reds as it's so hot here in Cape Town.
oh wow I needed this video last year ... lol I used a corner to corner stitch.. needless to say it was getting HUGE.. so I decided to make it a week per row after 3 months.. then the last 3 months go back to days.. but I forgot and began decreasing too soon so .. I had to decipher when to go to days.. hoping I deciphered correctly ..lol we will see.
Since I live in an area where we don’t get as much variation in temperatures, I decided to do increments of 5 degrees, starting at 100+ going down to 55 (although I don’t think I’ll get to use the 55 degrees or less) I’ll also have to do the daily highs instead of the averages. I’m excited to get started and plan on using browns and greens instead of the typical “temperature” colors!
In 2023 I kept track on a calendar the high temperature for every day for the whole year. Then all this year I’ve written down the low temperature every day. So starting next year I’m going to start one of the 2 blankets I am going to make. I can’t wait to start them 😊
This is really helpful!I didn't know that some yarns didnt have dye lots ! Also a way you could divide the months on the temperature blanket is do a border then put tassels in between the months.Idk i think it would look cool in frosty green or cherry red all in all very good tutorial i will use for my temperature blanket in 2026 yes 2026 not 2025
You should do fringe on the border to devide the months! Different colors for each month, I think either the highest or the lowest (or both depending on the color you used for the last month or how drastic the high/low was) would be super cool!
Thanks for a very helpful video 😍 A suggestion for the monthly dividers, maybe you can do tassels or pom poms with the cherry red you couldn’t use at each point around the blanket 🍒
I don’t know how to crochet, but I might loom knit a scarf of some sort using this. Personally, (unsure of how you might do this so correct me if there’s another way) I say that you make a fabric tag to stitch on to mark your months!
I think it would be nice to do a temperature blanket from the year I was born. I also had a similar but different idea to do. I recently bought a loom so I could make some dish towels and things. I wonder if temperature dish towels for each month made with cotton yarn might be more attainable for me. I could weave them or crochet or even knit some nice kitchen towels and washcloths and potholders. Might be fun.
It’s fine to be not finished by the end of the year, I’m still on April if this year! Edit: I use the low for winter, high for summer, and average for fall and spring, and ask any questions, I’ll try my best to answer!
I live where our highs and lows can be the same or drastically different every day. We could have a 45° high with a 42° low, or a 45° high with a 32° low. Due to the big differences, I've decided to use both the high and the low of every day with 2 stranded stitches. One day could be solid, and another could be two toned! Considering we have some nights that reach as low as -20°f, having a nice thick blanket at the end of the year will be amazing!
oh wow you just made me feel so good. lol I am on day December 7.. and this is my first 2024 .. not sure if I will do it again (for now).. my granddaughter is in to horses and want the horse bonnets and hat covers to match.. so guess I may do that this year.
I crocheted a temperature scarf last December, to see how the process was. It was over the year I got married. This year I have knitted a blanket, almost finished. And next year I plan to embroider a temperature year wheel (with small motifs such as a flower or a leaf per day. approx. 0.5 cm per day) . This year I have come about a month behind and then knitted it over a few days. My blanket is not that big, so it takes me about 5-10 min per row, and I knit only on the right side, and tie tassels with the ends. (no time for purling rows lol)
My 2025 project is inspired by the temperature snakes. I plan on making a book worm, aka a crochet worm that has colors based on the genres of the books I read in 2025. Part of it is so I can use up my yarn but also to have something to work on over the year.
you could make a border that is all one color but with 1 stitch in a contrasting color at the month markers. that wouldnt be too obvious and would just look like a pattern
I'm thinking of doing a granny square version for my brother and his fiancée for their wedding. They were both born in the same year, but different places, so I don't know exactly what my plan is. We live in Canada, so instead of choosing the high or low, I'm going to pick the most extreme 😂. In the winter, we have hit lower than -40°c, and in the summer we have hit over 30°C
Hi Holly, I am doing a temperature blanket and I'm putting a black line in at the end of the month I think you should put a black stitch where when you do your border.
Decided to get into crochet to make my gf something special since she's always making me feel so special so thank you for your future help holly and Holly fam ❤️and hope everyone has a awesome 2025 Love your help guides hope it's easy as watching u.... What would be a good idea to get started with I was thinking about using my girlfriends favorite 6 colors to build a cuddle blanket....
I started crocheting september 2022 and I thought a temperature blanket for that year as my first project would be a good idea, I made it so long I'm still working on it and only in august😭😂 it gets so tedious because I decided to follow you and do single crochets, and that was the only stitch I knew at the time lol. Next one I make will definitely be simpler, I need to finish it this year it's nearly been 3 years
I just came across this project idea and loved your video on how to get started. I have a few questions, though, before I begin. First, is one day's row just a single pass from left to right or do you flip and go back again? Second, will the initial chain count as day 1 or do you start day 1 after your starting chain? I plan on making one of these (perhaps on a smaller scale) for my niece's high school graduation using her birth year temperatures as the color palette. Thanks so much for a helpful video!
You could do a really simple border, and do a different color for the first stitch of each month. Like a single color border with a different color stitch where the 1st day of each month is.
Loved your video for the temperature blanket. I’m getting ready to make one, but have a question! What is the best way to change & connect your colors?
for 2025 i’m doing a mood blanket!! different color each day depending on my mood :) i do eventually want to make a temperature blanket for my birth year starting on my bday and then give it to my mom!!
I don't do temperature blankets. I do Mental Health Blankets. You don't get a gradient but you can pick colors that go well or you can go full chaos like I do. It's more of a way to have a record of how you were in something other than journal entries. As far as a dividers, im currently using a lace weight/size 0 yarn to denote the month without adding anything bulky. It's subtle and adds a fun pop. I've used it for coasters too.
I’m making a blanket using year born and 50 yrs later. I premade squares, measured every round. Using round times color equates to yardages. I came up with 10 colors needed more than 600 yards. 12 colors need less than 400yrds. All in all I also added extra for start, stop,. 1 color for blank. I’m making like a calendar style.
I live in a rainforest so I’m planning on doing a precipitation blanket based on the amount of rain!
GENIUS
That is SO COOL
cool!
I love that!! I’m English and making a temperature blanket, but if we’re basing it around the environment, I should probably be making a rain blanket😅

@@HollyAunaThank you! I have had a journey with crochet and it has now become my favorite hobby in the world
If you're still bummed you didn't get to do the red you could make a border around the finished blanket using the red so it's still a part of it!
I think it would be really cool to do a double-sided blanket with highs on one side and lows on the other.
and how exactly would you do that?
@Milankb10 you'd basically be making two separate blankets I think - is there is a more efficient way I don't know it.

Black: 105+

Great video! I’m going to start my first temperature blanket this week and really appreciate all your tips! Yarn shopping tomorrow!
Good luck!
Don’t do it to yourself 😂 me staring at my 1/3 quarter 2022 blanket staring me down… makes me feel so guilty 😢
I relate to this comment so much lol but I believe in us!
Ok now that's funny 😂 I'm mean funny but not funny, if you know what mean
my 2020 blanket is staring me down. I am at the end of August and haven't picked it up in several months. I currently plan to set myself the lofty goal of having it finished by the end of 2025.
@@hhooppyy34
You can do it! 👍🏻
I'm rooting for you📣👏
I honestly thought that this video would just be Holly saying, "Don't do it."
Wow that is a really cool idea. Picking any year and google the temp for each day
Me, having moved from Nashville to Seattle, stumbling across your temp blanket tutorial. 😂 Thanks for all the tips! Excited to start my Seattle blanket tomorrow!
Omgosh it’s like I knew 😂🧶 happy temperature blanketing!!!
Thank you so much! I am planning to start a 2025 template blanket and have been looking for a video that explains gauge so I can find out how wide to make my blanket. This one was amazing!
i always wanted to start a tempature blanket, i might regret it but i chose the lo temp color. Thank you for giving your insight and tips to us!
French crafter here and first I really want to say : HOLLY MOLLY I didn't think it could be so cold in Tenessee xD
For mine I think I'm just gonna put a tassel on each side to mark the end of the month, so it's not too much in your face and it ads a bit of fun
Love your channel so much, as a beginner it's really teaching me a lot !!
FINALLY!!!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!
💖💖💖
I love your manifesting idea!!! I was thinking I could do my yearly vacation location to change it up every year! Going to Calgary Canada this year…
Great video and I love the idea of using a spread sheet to keep up with all things temperature blanket. I remember when Microsoft included the Excel program in free with Windows under MS Office suite, then they began to charge. Today Google Sheets is 100% free (as of this post), while Excel is still part of the MS office package which is still way over priced... unless you are a business.
I am new to your channel and have been enjoying your happy nature. 🌻 Thank you for sharing. 😊
Awe welcome to the sunflower family we’re glad you’re here!!! 🧶🌻
What a neat idea. I have never heard of a temperature blanket. Now I want to make one ....LOL
Omgosh i am obsessed with this idea LOVE IT!
I think to divide you can use a color for the rim and make it a different color for when a month starts and ends
You are such a nice inspiring company while I do my Christmas crocheting ❤
In 2023 I kept track on a calendar the high temperature for every day for the whole year.
Then all this year I’ve written down the low temperature every day. So starting next year I’m going to start one of the 2 blankets I am going to make. I can’t wait to start them 😊
What a wonderful video! Thank you for sharing your story as I’m new to the channel.
I love this idea! I also live in Nashville, so I love to see our temp blanket completed for the year😆❤
This is really helpful!I didn't know that some yarns didnt have dye lots ! Also a way you could divide the months on the temperature blanket is do a border then put tassels in between the months.Idk i think it would look cool in frosty green or cherry red all in all very good tutorial i will use for my temperature blanket in 2026 yes 2026 not 2025
You say you're thankful for us. I say we're the ones that are thankful for you 🥰
So sweet!
@Ratiomom1
Thank you 😊 Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Agree. I love this channel
You're welcome and thank you
You should do fringe on the border to devide the months! Different colors for each month, I think either the highest or the lowest (or both depending on the color you used for the last month or how drastic the high/low was) would be super cool!
I had an idea for something similar where you do your mood instead of temperature, I definitely want to try both!
i never thought of doing this. im gonna start right now
Yay let us know how it goes!
I clicked to get an idea on how to start a temperature scarf, but I subscribed as soon as you called me sunflower 😊
Thanks for a very helpful video 😍
A suggestion for the monthly dividers, maybe you can do tassels or pom poms with the cherry red you couldn’t use at each point around the blanket 🍒
Best of luck! It is so rewarding at the end! I finished my 2023 mood blanket the other day. Hahaha.
GOTTA love the south!!
Where some days, have every single season wrapped into 24 hours…or less
I’m going to try and make a mood snake. Each round matching up to a day. I’m so excited to start
Holly, I think you should make the whole border white and then at wherever the month is use black. I hope I explained this properly!
I love the mushroom cup!
oh wow you just made me feel so good. lol I am on day December 7.. and this is my first 2024 .. not sure if I will do it again (for now).. my granddaughter is in to horses and want the horse bonnets and hat covers to match.. so guess I may do that this year.
Thank you for this rundown. I'm looking forward to embarking on 31:40 the project Jan 1st 2025.
It is this point where I am so thankful I live in a country that uses Celcius! I decided on 2 degree pockets.
Great idea
OMG A BOOK WORM WAIT I MIGHT MAKE ONE IN 2025
I think a way to divide could be to alternate sc and hdc between even and odd months!
dang we have such big temperature shifts in Nebraska, I kind of want to make one!
you could make a border that is all one color but with 1 stitch in a contrasting color at the month markers. that wouldnt be too obvious and would just look like a pattern
Im deciding to switch it up this year and doing a granny square a day for a massive granny square blanket.
Maybe do the center of each square location A. and the rest location B.?
Hi Holly, I am doing a temperature blanket and I'm putting a black line in at the end of the month I think you should put a black stitch where when you do your border.
You could add tassels for each moth
I am doing the high of the day😊😊
Good choice!
Decided to get into crochet to make my gf something special since she's always making me feel so special so thank you for your future help holly and Holly fam ❤️and hope everyone has a awesome 2025
Love your help guides hope it's easy as watching u....
Question for crocheters about temperature blankets!
You could do a really simple border, and do a different color for the first stitch of each month. Like a single color border with a different color stitch where the 1st day of each month is.
You could do tassels all around and make the tassel at the start or end of the month the identifier color.
Loved your video for the temperature blanket. I’m getting ready to make one, but have a question! What is the best way to change & connect your colors?
for 2025 i’m doing a mood blanket!! different color each day depending on my mood :)
i do eventually want to make a temperature blanket for my birth year starting on my bday and then give it to my mom!!
