To take a song with such hard hitting lyrics overshadowed by an upbeat melody and strip away the distractive instruments and make it so simple and intimate almost creates an entirely new song
This version of Vessel really just accentuates how talented of a writer he is. Just him and a piano and yet it seems like a brand new song. He didn't write the lyrics, and yet he feels them as if they were his own, and that is incredible. His covers don't miss and I hope that we can get more covers from him soon.
The first time I heard this cover, I was absolutely flabbergasted! I'd just discovered Sleep Token, put on a Spotify playlist of them at work, and when this came on I didn't notice what it was right away. As soon as I did, it caught me so off guard I stopped working and just listened to make sure I wasn't crazy lol. Sleep Token absolutely knocked this cover out the park!
My 2nd favorite cover that completely changes the style of the song and actually did it better (in a way) 1: Johnny Cash - Hurt (original NIN) 2: Hey Ya - Sleep Token (original Outkast) 3: Simple Man - Shinedown (original Lynyrd Skynyrd)
I love the instant smile on both of your faces as soon as Vessel starts singing, it was one of those "oh *this* is where we're going with this and I love it" kinda smiles 😅
I've once heard someone call Vessel the melancholic Midas, in which everything he touches turn into a devastatingly beautiful thing and I couldn't agree more
Kyle's face when the chorus hit the first time is my exact expression the entire first listen through of this cover lol! This one blew my mind first time I heard it and it still gets me in my feelings! One of the best covers I've ever heard!
The song was originally sad but this version of "Hey ya" just hits so much differently. Weird how a change of musical composition can totally switch up the whole vibe of a song you thought you knew. Awesome reaction🤘🏼 #Worship
This is the 2nd cover of Hey Ya where the vocalist leans HARD into how sad the lyrics really are. The Blanks did an a capella cover thats almost a bridge in between Outkast and this. Heard it watching Scrubs and fell in love with the more meloncholy version. This hits even better.
Ok I’ll just say it We get it Vessel you can music. This was absolutely incredible. My first time hearing this and I’m glad it was here. Great job guys
I wasn't expecting this to be an Outkast cover, Vessel did an absolutely wonderful job on this song. The layering of his voice when singing hey ya was amazing and you could hear some of his British accent come through in certain parts as well. Every time I hear Vessel sing I'm amazed still at what he can do as a lyricist and musician, I'm so glad that Sleep Token is a part of my daily listening experience. Great reaction as always fellas, CHEERS!!!!
Much like Eric, I was never an OutKast fan - but damn, if this version catches me in one of my sadgirl moments - I cry like a baby. There’s something so pure and so emotional about Vessel’s voice. I can’t wait for you to hear Whitney’s cover. I was weed whacking my lawn and burst into tears while that was on my AirPods. Who the hell knew?!?
This is my favorite version of Hey Ya now lol. Vessel can take a song I have loved for YEARS and has flipped it completely to make it hit so different.....pure Genius! I loved the look on your faces when he sang HEY YA lol. And its weird cuz I know the song is a Rap song from the early 2000s, but I swear its almost as if this song was written by Vessel to go with the story he's written. Just incredible. Thanks Guys.... W O R S H I P
I actually just REALLY noticed all of his different voices in the background of this song!! You guys will love “when the party’s over” by Billie ellish
If you guys can find a live version of this I would also highly recommend checking that out on your time because Vessel's live voice is just sooo good especially when it comes to this song
This is absolutely one of my favorite covers of any song ever. They way they completely changed it to a haunting melody, in my opinion, is such a fantastic job. Thank you guys for checking this out.
In my playlist of Sleep Token I have this song go into Atlantic and the whole album of "This Place Will Become Your Tomb" and it sets that album up so well 😁
Didn’t know I needed this song in my life… I’ve heard the original many times and it never registered like this… Only other cover that I’VE experienced that changed the way I looked at an original song was when Ronnie reimagined Last Resort… Would definitely like to hear more covers shaped differently to experience it new
Wow, just wow....that's exactly how to turn a once happy sounding party music song into a heartbreaking tearjerker. In fact, I disn't listen close enough to the lyrics of the outkast version but this one hits hard. Great job. Now all we need is only one little happy song from this artist to bring us joy only once.
I loved the original in my teens, but this doesn't even compare. I absolutely ADORE Vessel's version, the emotion that man can put into his absolutely beautiful voice blows me away time and again. Also I hate rollercoasters, but this must've been the most wholesome "and remember" I ever heard from Eric. 😂 Keep being awesome guys!💙
I'm so happy you guys did this one, I thought I'd have to wait forever for you to get to it! I don't think there's a studio version but you should definitely get to vessels cover of Hallelujah ❤
One of those songs that grew on me over time, was playing through their discography and had to come back to it after a minute and...one of my favorite songs from them
Man I remember them teasing this song as being premiered on bbc radio 1 rock show. I left somewhere early to make sure I was alone and able to listen to this. At first I was waiting for a drop to come and when it didn’t I was sad. Over time it has become one of my favorite songs by them.
Love all his covers, this one is amazing! ♥️ my favorite of all though is "Dance with somebody" by Whitney Houston 🥰🙌🏼😍 Sorry totally forgot about hallelujah. That one blew me away!
Its like Andre 3000 really didnt want the sound to be down so made 'hey ya' upbeat and vessel just took the lyrics and went ill do what he didnt. Part of me believes outkast made it catchy to get higher in the charts
I'm so happy that you mentioned Breaking Benjamin's cover of "Who Wants To Live Forever", because I adore it for the same reasons you do and this cover very much falls into that same vein.
Love this cover, it is so beautiful. Definitely get check out the live version of this, because it is even better. Honestly everything live From a room below is amazing!
Vessel has whitney houston and Billy eilish covers too as well as hallelujah. Even if yall don't react to them I would definitely go have a listen in your spare time! 🖤🙌 this version of hey ya really makes you pay attention to how sad that song actually is
This was the first song of theirs I heard. Suggested by UA-cam I wondered if it was a cover and was intrigued by the thumbnail. Then watched bloodsport room below and the offering and that was me hooked. Been obsessed ever since.
I am going to lose my mind when you guys finally get up to This Place Will Become Your Tomb. I love every Sleep Token song and Take Me Back To Eden has been my most listened to album so far this year, but there's some special resonance in the second album that I'm hoping finds you guys as well. And please, oh please start with Atlantic.
He really made this one his own. Iove watching you guys love it too. The man has some pipes on him and he's talented AF on keys and guitar 🖤✌️🎶Great reaction!!
I like to think of this and the falling in reverse cover of last resort. You don't really realize how heavy the lyrics and message of the song are until you hear it slowed down and sung with the emotion and feeling that matches the words.
Love the videos, guys! I love watching to you two nerd out about the music you are listening to because I do the same thing, lol. "Jaws" by Sleep Token is a beautiful, yet haunting masterpiece. I would love to see you guys react to it!
I don’t know if you can actually tie the lyrics in, since the song contains ‘nothing is forever’ and Vessel has quoted in an interview ‘Nothing. Lasts. Forever.’ I believe that is still his only interview to date?
I'm gonna be for real I'd love to see you guys react to the way that you were by sleep token because that song fucking eviscerates me more than any other and cmon you know how vessel gets
When you guys get to Bloodsport, you should do what you did with the Falling in Reverse reimagined tracks and do a double reaction. Bloodsport followed by Bloodsport (from the room below). You will be blown away
To take a song with such hard hitting lyrics overshadowed by an upbeat melody and strip away the distractive instruments and make it so simple and intimate almost creates an entirely new song
💯
How the heck does this man just has the most heavenly voice on the planet?
I'm convinced Sleep Token can't make a bad track. Every...single...one...just punches you in the face with angst, anger, sadness, or horniness.
Sometimes it's all of the above tbh 😂
@@oh_fuck_its_salemNO BC YOU'RE NOT EVEN WRONG😭😭
This version of Vessel really just accentuates how talented of a writer he is. Just him and a piano and yet it seems like a brand new song. He didn't write the lyrics, and yet he feels them as if they were his own, and that is incredible.
His covers don't miss and I hope that we can get more covers from him soon.
I NEED him to cover "somebody that I used to know"
@@calebevans3690At this point Gotye is really Someone We Used To Know lol
Would be interesting to see how Vessel evolves the track
The first time I heard this cover, I was absolutely flabbergasted! I'd just discovered Sleep Token, put on a Spotify playlist of them at work, and when this came on I didn't notice what it was right away. As soon as I did, it caught me so off guard I stopped working and just listened to make sure I wasn't crazy lol. Sleep Token absolutely knocked this cover out the park!
This cover, and Whitney Houston's "I wanna dance with somebody" are amazing! I love these weekly Token vids but yall have SO much to explore! Worship.
We need at least 3 a week...... Wishful thinking
The Billie Eilish “When the Party’s over” is real good too
My 2nd favorite cover that completely changes the style of the song and actually did it better (in a way)
1: Johnny Cash - Hurt (original NIN)
2: Hey Ya - Sleep Token (original Outkast)
3: Simple Man - Shinedown (original Lynyrd Skynyrd)
Deftones do an incredible cover of Simple Man as well!
I love the instant smile on both of your faces as soon as Vessel starts singing, it was one of those "oh *this* is where we're going with this and I love it" kinda smiles 😅

I remember seeing this video and thinking "No, it can't be an Outkast cover". Well, here we are. Amazingly done.
I love this version. It’s like it grew older with me
This is the 2nd cover of Hey Ya where the vocalist leans HARD into how sad the lyrics really are. The Blanks did an a capella cover thats almost a bridge in between Outkast and this. Heard it watching Scrubs and fell in love with the more meloncholy version. This hits even better.

YEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE IT BOYS, KEEP EM COMIN!!
I am just Speechless! . . . ❤
I actually just REALLY noticed all of his different voices in the background of this song!! You guys will love “when the party’s over” by Billie ellish
for me i didn't realize how sad this song actually was until I heard this cover. vessel's voice continues to amaze me in his versatility
I knew you would love this. Vessel's interpretation is so entrancing. So glad you checked it.
This song came on in my car and my 13 year-old said, "mans made it beautiful!" Lol. Anyway, great reaction as always. ❤ you guys
If you guys can find a live version of this I would also highly recommend checking that out on your time because Vessel's live voice is just sooo good especially when it comes to this song

It's amazing just how sad Sleep Token can make what was a very happy sounding song.

Only other cover that I’VE experienced that changed the way I looked at an original song was when Ronnie reimagined Last Resort…

Okay, I love that you did this reaction. He's so interesting in the choices he makes for this cover.

When I introduce people to Sleep Token, this is one of the first few songs I give them.

I hope you get to listen to all the " messages" Vessel has made too.!
One of those songs that grew on me over time, was playing through their discography and had to come back to it after a minute and...one of my favorite songs from them
That is a beautiful version ❤ great reaction, guys!
Man I remember them teasing this song as being premiered on bbc radio 1 rock show. I left somewhere early to make sure I was alone and able to listen to this.
At first I was waiting for a drop to come and when it didn’t I was sad. Over time it has become one of my favorite songs by them.
What’s good fellas excited to see this
Love all his covers, this one is amazing! ♥️ my favorite of all though is "Dance with somebody" by Whitney Houston 🥰🙌🏼😍
Sorry totally forgot about hallelujah. That one blew me away!
I can't wait to hear what you guys think of Missing Limbs. Hits hard in the feels, imo.
This really is a beautiful cover. Great reaction guys

I NEED them to do shelter! OMG.
OMG! Kyle's reaction was just like mine. hahah --- Happy to see this video! Hugs from Brazil guys
Vessel is a generational talent.. this is a genius at work ❤
I'm so happy that you mentioned Breaking Benjamin's cover of "Who Wants To Live Forever", because I adore it for the same reasons you do and this cover very much falls into that same vein.
this was the song that was put on my sportify weekly back in 2019, it was the song that started it all for me.
Love this cover, it is so beautiful. Definitely get check out the live version of this, because it is even better. Honestly everything live From a room below is amazing!
Well this is a pleasant surprise!
I love y’all…that’s all I can say at this point. I love everything you guys do. Thank you for existing.
This is up there with my fav Sleep Token songs for sure. It’s so beautiful
I knew the lyrics were sad but god damn Vessel made that emotion come to life. THIS is how you do a cover
My daughter sang this and played piano at her school concert, it was beautiful
Someone in another reaction said that when he heard the chorus he said this must be what heaven is like, vessel just there singing this chorus to you😂
Vessel has whitney houston and Billy eilish covers too as well as hallelujah. Even if yall don't react to them I would definitely go have a listen in your spare time! 🖤🙌 this version of hey ya really makes you pay attention to how sad that song actually is
Edit to say I made this comment before the video was completely over 😂
I want nothing more then a recorded version of the hallelujah cover. The live video is good but I want official audio.
This was the first song of theirs I heard. Suggested by UA-cam I wondered if it was a cover and was intrigued by the thumbnail. Then watched bloodsport room below and the offering and that was me hooked. Been obsessed ever since.
I AM SO HAPPY THAT YOU GUYS REACTED TO THIS!!!!!! It’s one of my favorite covers vessel does ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The fun fact near Kyles' I LOVE MILFS shirt really turns meanings around :D
I am going to lose my mind when you guys finally get up to This Place Will Become Your Tomb. I love every Sleep Token song and Take Me Back To Eden has been my most listened to album so far this year, but there's some special resonance in the second album that I'm hoping finds you guys as well. this.
He really made this one his own. Iove watching you guys love it too. The man has some pipes on him and he's talented AF on keys and guitar 🖤✌️🎶Great reaction!!
I do like OutKast’s but … this is amazing … you know it’s a cover but yet it’s a completely different song!!! I agree I could loop it too for sure
I like to think of this and the falling in reverse cover of last resort.
You don't really realize how heavy the lyrics and message of the song are until you hear it slowed down and sung with the emotion and feeling that matches the words.
Really shows the genius of andre 3000/outkast and vessel/sleep token
Love the videos, guys! I love watching to you two nerd out about the music you are listening to because I do the same thing, lol. "Jaws" by Sleep Token is a beautiful, yet haunting masterpiece. I would love to see you guys react to it!
I don’t know if you can actually tie the lyrics in, since the song contains ‘nothing is forever’ and Vessel has quoted in an interview ‘Nothing. Lasts. Forever.’ I believe that is still his only interview to date?
Glad to see someone else doing a reaction on this one, absolute 🔥
Was kinda hoping the live version would be thrown in because it's pretty darn fantastical
I just love this band! ❤
I'm gonna be for real I'd love to see you guys react to the way that you were by sleep token because that song fucking eviscerates me more than any other and cmon you know how vessel gets
I love this cover to death, we need a Jericho reaction haha not enough on UA-cam
You guys need to hear “is it really you?”. It’s Loathe and Sleep Token, and let me tell ya, it’s fucking beautiful.
so happy to see this got to you! cant wait for you to check out the next cover, no spoilers but it hits hard
If it is possible, I keep falling deeper and deeper in love with ST, regardless of who's reacting. Love your reactions!
i'm convinced at this point there isn't anything vessel can't do
the lyrics fit much better with a song with this kinda vibe 🙏
I need more sleep token posted from you guys than 1 a week 😅
Get blown away by Vessel's cover of Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody
I love the Outkast version of Hey Ya! but man oh man, Vessel's version just hits different.
EDEN has also done a cover of Hey Ya and Say Something, which makes me want to hear Vessel do a cover of Say Something lol
I was like, "There's no way they're covering the song I'm thinking of.... WOW, OKAY NICE"
So good!
The Loathe Cover they do.called Is It Really You? So.good.
Can't wait to see what you guys think of II and Jaws. (also gods and blood sport(s))
I am with Eric I wasn't a big outcast fan but when I heard this the first time it showed how amazing the lyrics were.
Right!? Like my god, they were amazing lyrics.
We're getting more dayseeker?
never knew how painful the lyrics were in the outkast version because of how upbeat the music was. crazy good cover
This hits different like Ronnie's reimagined version of Last Resort...totally different vibe but still amazing...
Kyle, I need your shirt.
you guys should do the Vessel Hallelujah cover live as one of your next episodes
This is gonna be my saddest yeah boi yet, yeah booooi 😭
You guys have fallen down the sleep token rabbit hole you should check out the theory about the songs lore it’s pretty interesting
When you said "it's the Outkast version" I laughed because I thought it was a joke hahaha
Haha, right? I was thinking, " Maybe it's a different song." Nope 🤣
Love this, it’s like with Ronnie doing Last Resort, I much prefer the retakes 🖤
Nice!
If you love this please do Blood sport but the from the room below version if you want Vessel and a piano in a very emotional and raw form
Andre always couldn't understand how people didn't listen to the lyrics, it's an incredibly sad song. It's about a breakup.
When you guys get to Bloodsport, you should do what you did with the Falling in Reverse reimagined tracks and do a double reaction.
Bloodsport followed by Bloodsport (from the room below).
You will be blown away
