I was seriously considering shelling out $1200+ for one of these units until I read through AuCar's Warranty & Return policies. Any company who states that they may cancel the warranty if they don't think that you're being "patient enough" gets a hard 'NO' from me! ("Whilst we assist with after-sales, we would also require our customer’s cooperation and patience, especially on checking products, updating the device, providing Order number and details, car model, year, pictures of the dashboard, factory radio plug etc. Refusal to cooperate may affect your warranty.") It's already a risky proposition considering the newness of these units, the cost, and they're being sold from China will make dealing with them potentially very painful. I'm out. Installed mine last night. Still getting used to it. So much better than stick with the little ass screen. Hopefully, they can make so great software update to fix the slowness of car play and make the UI a bit more snappy.

Don, I have just installed this screen and going through the learning curve, first can you use your phones data and link it to watch UA-cam or Netflix? Second can you download wallpaper via plugging a USB into the truck usb port with screensaver saved to it. Watch all your stuff and love the content!
You can use your phone as a hotspot to share data and stream Netflix, UA-cam and more. Watch the 4th video (next one) and you’ll see there is an update to allow for some more customization. I haven’t tried static wallpaper yet, just live wallpaper with a TikTok wallpaper process
Don, still can’t figure out the hotspot issue using my phone but I think I may just get a data SIM card from my Verizon account. Last question is concerning the USB that was moved over from the original screen mount. I did not pull the new screen USB out of the bottom so I can use it but can I use the old one to Upload wallpaper or anything else I like music or Movies? Thanks for the help in advance
Wow it is easier to just turn on your hotspot and use the apps instead of waiting all day for CarPlay to connect, mine does it fast sometimes like you said but other times it takes a while
Can't wait to see your GPS connection to the OEM antenna (I will need to do it too). I just installed this screen in my AT4, and experiencing many of the same issues. Otherwise, it's still a really nice upgrade. I have found the AGAMA Car Launcher App to be a good solution for a UI interface.
Good tip. I have been holding off on the luncher apks until an update is provided to stop the custom tweaks like wallpaper reverting. Have you had this happen with yours? Revert back after spending lots of time making custom changes?
@@Donslife yup, did the tik tok live wallpaper and it reverted to default after a few start ups. Frustrating but hopefully they’ll have some bug fix updates for us in the near future.
Hey Don, I have the same issue with the length of time it takes to connect to CarPlay. I’ve found that if I activate the gps in my phone or hit play on music it kind of “hurries it along” and connects much faster

😂 nobody paid me. I agreed to test them. It is what I do. If Linkswell asked me to test theirs in the new year, I would for free. I am wrapping up some Z Innovation screen comparisons soon and will be winter testing the AUCAR one again, as well as its new aux output connection option.

I can’t really answer that as it comes down to the individual and their wants or needs. I have always been a tech and gadget guy. An early adopter is the term. I don’t work for Aucar, but I think more companies will make options before you’ll see a version 2 of the hardware. From here, the experience is going to come down to software updates in my opinion. Like I mention in the video, I will be reviewing more when I can.

Is there any specific reason to buy the screen protector from AuCar instead of an anti-glare 15.6" from Amazon unless AuCar sent them to review? Quite a price difference overall.
@@Donslife Well, lesson learned for me. Apparently the screen protectors for these large screen displays are specific to it and a 15.6 inch protector for a laptop is definitely not the same at all. The length was fine but the edges were off about 1 inch on each side if centered. I've ordered what I need and instead of what I thought I needed. Just sharing so others may learn from my lesson and get the right product the first time.
I updated my 21' Chevy Silverado Custom with an updated steering wheel and Denali cluster panel in order to manually control the radio with buttons on the steering wheel. My question is will the Aucarauto 15.6" screen work with the changes I made? I think you eluded that it will. I have a 7" screen and my steering wheel controls the radio as intended. One more thing, I checked specs for most 15.6" screens over the Internet, are they generally all the same? Thanks...I'm enjoying your videos on this item. You're doing a great job.
The radio controls from the steering wheel should work the same for all factory functions. I’d recommend purchasing from Aucar or one of their distributors. They offer full support, updates and even have existing groups and communities to help. You can save some money too if you use the promo code: Donlife’. Some people have bought from eBay, etc and can’t get support. That’s what I have read in the forums/groups.

Love the video! I have an issue with the parking sensors. If the parking system is offline there is a giant text box warning in the reverse camera that I can't dismiss which makes the reverse camera useless. Have you seen a fix for this yet?
I haven’t experienced or looked into this. When I get prompts like that, I click the button on the right side of my steering wheel to cancel the dialogue box. My dialogue box shows up in my gauge cluster. I’ll have to look to see if there is a problem with the console screen being block while in reverse.

You don’t need the microphone at all. The GPS is optional depending if you’re using your phone’s gps via carplay. I am going to tap into the GMC gps soon. Next video. The speaker is an addom that will work but it is unlikely you’ll use it very often. I tucked mine under the console. It’s for GPS chimes and stuff when you’re listening to your factory xm or radio
Noticeable. But….I just received an upgraded harness that includes a 3.5mm jack connection option for the Aux port on some trim levels. This should resolve most of the audio delay when playing video content. In a few weeks I should have a video out
Im not having good luck with mine and AUCAR seems to not be much help, im hoping you had some insight… i cant control any volume back up camera doesnt work and i get no sound through any apps. The console section doesnt show my factory controls.
Hey there, sorry to hear. Aucar’s staff is in the middle of a one week holiday right now. Since you purchased from Aucar you are entitled to free support. I highly recommend you join their facebook group. There are so many owners sharing there. I would try changing the vehicle year setting to 2022 Silverado if you have an 8” screen. Once I did that for my 2021 Sierra, everything worked including the back up camera. Then there were some touchscreen responsiveness issues that can be fixed by letting the screen sleep for 20 mins. Turn off the truck, lock it and walk away for that time. The it worked fine. After all of this, then I was able to make sure nothing was paired to truck’s bluetooth audio except my screen. Then after testing everything I paired my phone with my truck as a phone and not an audio device and also disabled carplay on the truck’s settings. I enabled carplay with my phone on the zlink app that comes with the screen. Getting this far, things run pretty stable

@@Donslife is the Sim card on a cable so it’s accessible to swap out different Sim cards to find out which carrier will work or is it something that’s plugged into the back of the unit?
Sorry the GM and Chevy Simcard plans are worse and more expensive than most carriers in Canada and we get more Data than what AT&T gives us, i'd use this console with our Rogers provider anyday over the manufacturers provider. Just my two cents.
People just honestly want a bigger screen in the 2019-2021 should’ve had a better interior and touchscreen it’s no reason being a luxury brand why RAM and Ford had better interiors and they’re not even luxury brands they waited until 2022 to mdd add me the interiors better against the competition because they were getting embarrassed by a RAM limited and Laramie for years being a working truck brand but dumb Carlos Tavares has basically been trying to turn RAM and Jeep into what GMC has always supposed to have been for years which is a luxury brand
It's fine for some people. I drive my truck, it's not a place I plan on hanging out in. I don't look at a screen while I'm driving so it offers little to me. Now swapping out the shocks for Bilstein, that's money we'll spent! Getting rid of the HORRIBLE duratrac tires that are LOUD as hell, another excellent purchase.
The screen doesn't improve the experience for me. I have full functionality I need with the stock set up. Most people feel compelled to buy the most expensive cell phone they can even though they use 10% of its capability. A screen isn't important to me while I'm driving. I don't hang out in my truck. Bilstein shocks and eliminating the HORRIBLE and LOUD duratrac tires, that's money well spent.

I would consider putting them further away from unit and closer to a window. The less amount of material to have a signal pass through would be ideal. Since there are two sim card slots, I am not sure if each antenna corresponds to each slot. I assume they do

I hooked up a carlinkit via the factory usb and there is no lag the problem is that it’s not as snappy or nice looking but still good enough no lag.
Does it get rid of Bluetooth call lag?

Does this unit retain dual-climate controls and the ability to heat both the seat bottom independently from the whole seat (back included)?
Yes 👍 to both questions. It just uses digital buttons on the screen in the climate menu

when it comes to your trailer do u have the sensors in your tires telling u the temp and pressure of each tire and if so does it show up on the screen

Hi.Waiting for my unit, purchased on August 25.Does I need to use the gps, speaker and microphone cable shipped with the unit or it work with the factory gps,speaker and microphone signal?
You don’t need the microphone at all. The GPS is optional depending if you’re using your phone’s gps via carplay. I am going to tap into the GMC gps soon. Next video. The speaker is an addom that will work but it is unlikely you’ll use it very often. I tucked mine under the console. It’s for GPS chimes and stuff when you’re listening to your factory xm or radio

Not really happen with this so far. I can’t get the car play to work correctly on the tablet. You can view the album cover on it but no volume.

Noticeable. But….I just received an upgraded harness that includes a 3.5mm jack connection option for the Aux port on some trim levels. This should resolve most of the audio delay when playing video content. In a few weeks I should have a video out
Im not having good luck with mine and AUCAR seems to not be much help, im hoping you had some insight… i cant control any volume back up camera doesnt work and i get no sound through any apps. The console section doesnt show my factory controls.
Hey there, sorry to hear. Aucar’s staff is in the middle of a one week holiday right now. Since you purchased from Aucar you are entitled to free support. I highly recommend you join their facebook group. There are so many owners sharing there.
I would try changing the vehicle year setting to 2022 Silverado if you have an 8” screen. Once I did that for my 2021 Sierra, everything worked including the back up camera. Then there were some touchscreen responsiveness issues that can be fixed by letting the screen sleep for 20 mins. Turn off the truck, lock it and walk away for that time. The it worked fine. After all of this, then I was able to make sure nothing was paired to truck’s bluetooth audio except my screen. Then after testing everything I paired my phone with my truck as a phone and not an audio device and also disabled carplay on the truck’s settings. I enabled carplay with my phone on the zlink app that comes with the screen. Getting this far, things run pretty stable

If this doesn’t work (or any other setting) you may have a defective cable. Aucar will replace it

@@Donslife is the Sim card on a cable so it’s accessible to swap out different Sim cards to find out which carrier will work or is it something that’s plugged into the back of the unit?

No, not directly.
Sorry the GM and Chevy Simcard plans are worse and more expensive than most carriers in Canada and we get more Data than what AT&T gives us, i'd use this console with our Rogers provider anyday over the manufacturers provider. Just my two cents.

I just don't see the benefit of spending over $1000 for this. I almost jumped on it but gave it thought and realized it's a, gimmick.

People just honestly want a bigger screen in the 2019-2021 should’ve had a better interior and touchscreen it’s no reason being a luxury brand why RAM and Ford had better interiors and they’re not even luxury brands they waited until 2022 to mdd add me the interiors better against the competition because they were getting embarrassed by a RAM limited and Laramie for years being a working truck brand but dumb Carlos Tavares has basically been trying to turn RAM and Jeep into what GMC has always supposed to have been for years which is a luxury brand

It's fine for some people. I drive my truck, it's not a place I plan on hanging out in. I don't look at a screen while I'm driving so it offers little to me. Now swapping out the shocks for Bilstein, that's money we'll spent! Getting rid of the HORRIBLE duratrac tires that are LOUD as hell, another excellent purchase.
The screen doesn't improve the experience for me. I have full functionality I need with the stock set up. Most people feel compelled to buy the most expensive cell phone they can even though they use 10% of its capability. A screen isn't important to me while I'm driving. I don't hang out in my truck. Bilstein shocks and eliminating the HORRIBLE and LOUD duratrac tires, that's money well spent.

Question is installed the sim card and still no internet are those antennas need to be out?
I would consider putting them further away from unit and closer to a window. The less amount of material to have a signal pass through would be ideal. Since there are two sim card slots, I am not sure if each antenna corresponds to each slot. I assume they do
