Fun fact for the day, how easy an egg peels has nothing to do with the way it cooks. Fresh eggs are difficult to peel, a week or more old eggs peel easily. That's because the inside of the egg shrinks a bit while in storage. So if you want to always have easy to peel eggs, just let them sit for a few days!
This thing would have been kickass when I was homeless staying at motels. You really begin to feel the strain of eating nothing but microwaved or cold food after a while.
The thing with toasters if you ask me, is that it all depends on. Is it a cold toaster or a warm toaster. On mine the first time I put bread in it in the morning. I have to set it to level two. However, if I am making additional toast after I've done that I have to set it to one or it burns. So in my experience, whether or not the toaster has been used recently determines how Brown the toast is. A cold toaster takes longer than a recently used warm toaster.

I noticed when you did the bagel and meat... when you showed the bagel in the toaster just after the bacon and sausage went on the pan, the bottom and top of the bagel were against the heat. The inside of the bagel was on the cool side. It looks like it would work better with the top and bottom facing each other. I would like to point out, those toast samples aren't a static test. Each time you run the toaster it was able to warm up the wires more and more by having the machine going. For a more accurate test you should let the toaster cool between 'batches' for five to ten minutes just to ensure it was actually back down to room temperature. Otherwise the mechanism was just staying warm and your toast is steadily getting darker and darker

I want to say the toaster doesn't isolate heat for the slices very well. So the element between the slices is apparently giving twice the "toasting" power than the outer side of the slice giving the uneven toasting.
Do you realize each next slice of bread you toast will be darker because the toaster is already heated hot. If you were to toast it each time from cold state would be a different scenario.

The timer needs work. They should put a small microcontroller inside. Put in your toast/muffin/bagel and push it down (but it doesn't heat yet), then drop the egg and sausage/ham on the griddle and start the timer. Then as the eggs/meat cook, it turns on the toaster element (timed to the darkness setting) so the bread pops at at the same instant the eggs/meat are done. I have a Hamilton Beach Egg-A-Muffin maker. You heat it up with the sausage party first. Then remove the patty, put in the lower muffin, cheese, and sausage in the bottom ring, drop the egg ring down with the bottom slider in place, crack and egg into the ring, add salt, pepper, and then the top muffin, and close the top, 3:30 later, slide the ring bottom out - dropping the egg onto the meat, then open up the maker (3 levels) and its done! Perfect every time.
If made correctly these things require more power than a standard American outlet. They’re limited to 15amps because that’s what most people have. 20amp is common in new builds.
I think the idea of the breakfast station is great, but it would be even better if everything cooked evenly. Something like a breakfast sandwich machine is very limited in what one can make with it, but at least everything cooks evenly and comes out nice and hot.
My only issue every time you test a toaster is (at least with editing) you don’t seem to give the machine time to cool. Settings are for cold start, if you’ve been running hot of course higher settings will be cooking too hard.
I think it's cute, looks like a vintage product from the 60s or something. I can definitely see someone using them in their RV or while camping. Not bad.
I think an electric hotplate and a pan and a small 2 toast toaster would be 1000000x better than this. You can do 100x more things with a hotplate and pan, and it wouldn't take much more room than this waste of space

Maybe the toaster setting 5 and 6 would be good for frozen bread. If you had no access to a regular kitchen I'd say you could cook a fairly large variety of foods with that station.
Based on all of these breakfast stations, this one was probably the most consistent where the cooking surface was concerned. The pancake and the breakfast meats proved that. And the steaming feature actually worked! I still wouldn’t buy one, but at least this one actually did what they said it would.
Dial never moves I would see as a good feature I think... If you eat the same type of breakfast every time you can adjust the time for your ingredients (maybe ju have smaller eggs, bigger bacon or vice versa)... so you you dial the time in after a couple days... then it's the same every time... just press the button and it is still the same (dialed in setting for you ingredients and for your taste)... But ofc if you are doing different breakfast things everyday I would like a digital setting maybe with saved timers... so you have you eggs perfect as you like them everytime and so on...
suggestion for toasting test is to use 2 pieces as the wattage will share the coils for a better even toasting. I've seen other toaster test on almost all single toast one side was always darker on one side but for some strange reason with 2 pieces they toasted more even all all sides and when you did the waffles they were evenly toasted
you get Smoked Bacon Medallions without the fat. It's meant to be for the healthy people. Mostly kids enjoy it since they don't like tasting fat. But they are no different to thick cut back bacon. What you have is gammon.
From an engineer's perspective on the dial situation, I see one of two scenarios being true. Either they couldn't figure out how to functionally get the dial to rotate with that particular style/design of timer, or the mechanism required for the movement was deemed too expensive. If I had to guess, I'd say it was the latter.
@MayaASDDID You could probably work some kind of mechanism in there that would turn the dial without changing the aesthetics, but I don't disagree with the ticking dial thing.

Based on all of these breakfast stations, this one was probably the most consistent where the cooking surface was concerned. The pancake and the breakfast meats proved that. And the steaming feature actually worked! I still wouldn’t buy one, but at least this one actually did what they said it would.
The griddles easy to clean but what about the popping bacon grease that's inevitably going to get all on the side and inside the toaster?
Easy pass.
Omg that was my exact same thought, what a pain it'd be to clean that thing!
peeling in the water makes it far easier. great video for such an interesting device.
We would love to see Bailey have some to taste too!!
The eyes of your dog may have not sold me on the product, but they did sell me on being a subscriber to your channel.
You should give Bailey some treats
I hope I am one of your Canadian friends ❤ great review as always, thanks James!
Bailey was looking for the food, I noticed her the whole time staring up at you
I am canadian and I've never seen « bacon » like that!
Nevermind Canadian bacon... English muffin?! Its just a Muffin 😂😂
suggestion for toasting test is to use 2 pieces as the wattage will share the coils for a better even toasting. I've seen other toaster test on almost all single toast one side was always darker on one side but for some strange reason with 2 pieces they toasted more even all all sides and when you did the waffles they were evenly toasted
Haha Bailey standing there always makes me giggle
the concept is great but the problem with all-in-ones is that when something breaks, everything is useless. perfect example is print/scan/fax machines
I love my toast burnt 😢. I would have liked to see level 6 😂
you get Smoked Bacon Medallions without the fat.
Didn’t know if you knew this already, but toasters are designed to have all slots filled when toasting (per American Test Kitchen).
canadian bacon AND english muffins? youre really trying to rile up the international viewers lol
I get the feeling that these do it all products are just ok at everything, they should just make a toaster, an oven, a griddle etc. Focus on one thing and make it the best it can be
Toast on 4. Put peanut butter on it. I like it that way.
Also it would depend on the thickness of the bread.
i’m Canadian all good with that word I believe it’s called this because it was imported from Toronto to new York city another fun video
The way you say “eggos” at 11:32 😂
I think I got that from Dr. Evil.
This thing would be pretty good if it had a decent timer and a little bit better toaster. Neither are expensive or complicated products. Mind blowing that they didn't spent 10 extra bucks to get it to a level that everyone who goes camping would buy one.
For the egg portion and Canadian bacon portion: I wonder if it would have cooked quicker if you had covered it and if that was the intention when designing the thing. Seems a pretty solid device actually if so.
3:01 This is accurate, I compulsively corrected you out loud.
I could see this as useful during gaming sessions make a breakfast sandwich during rounds lol
They could probably get rid of the toaster side, and it would be a nice little multifunction griddle.
