I love Salvation and I rate the series as my second fav from PFH, only after the Commonwealth Saga. I do think I enjoyed the first book a bit more than you. Have you noticed that occasionally PFH will layout a chapter or scene or vignette that is absolute perfection. I thought this of the opening chapter "Earth Calling" from "Salvation". I was HOOKED! This scifi novel also has the rare scene that drew tears from me. When Callum finally found his wife I was all kinds of verklempt...lol. Anyway, good job brother!
I’ve tried all of Peter’s series and solo-books that I’m aware of except this trilogy. The 2 original commonwealth books are my #1 favorite sci-fi period, and if I were wealthy I’d have fancy leather hardbacks made of them…. But maybe in part because of that, I’m not that into the rest of his stuff. Having said that, in every series his ability to balance things at vast time, space, and technological scales is impressive. Most otherwise great authors get tripped up at half the scope he works with. His ability to plot and pace a large story is quite impressive. …so maybe I should give these a try. It does sound like Hyperion set in the Commonwealth universe. That’s can’t be half bad. 😅 Thanks for the review.
