Dan looks a total natural when working that pole although I think that he’s used to a taller silver coloured pole plus he’s not sure about all them clothes he was wearing he’d normally be in a pair of budgie smugglers.😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Right at home there! 😂🤣 Great video guys you did really well with that tent! Looks great now it's up and the wood stove etc ideal! Scored getting that tarp and felt to go under the matting aswell! Proper funny you two always end up chuckling! Just catching up on this one and the latest one double header lol 😂 Loving the singing bowls, lamps and Rug, very Zen! ☯️♾️👍🏴🇬🇧
I find that I look forward to your videos. For an old guy like me it's a joy to see two such hopeful, energetic and hardworking young people. Bless you for sharing.
Make sure the ground slope away from the tent, you do not want the rain to puddle under the tent. Well done for cutting off the excess, I would be tempted do a small trench all around and away just to ensure the rain water goes away from the tent.
Brilliant video Dan & Laura. The Bell tent is a great addition to having some space to chill out. Just a tip your mattress & cupboard don't let them touch the sides of the tent as if it rains they will get wet 👍
Your bell tent would benefit from a 200mm ditch , dug all around the tent to intercept any water runoff from heavy rains. and then another ditch from the lowest point to evacuate the collected water. Just an once of prevention.
About the boggy driveway: I wonder if it might help to fill the deep tracks with lengths of those sawmill offcuts that you used to clad the outhouse. About the chest of drawers in the tent: if any of your furniture or objects are touching the wall of the tent, the rain will seep through that touch-point. Love what you are doing ☺
You two are such lovely shiny stars 🌟🌟🌟. I laughed out loud at your tent antics, lol. Such a great sense of humour. Loved the tent and particularly the little stove. Have a great week 🤗🙏
Hi Dan & Laura, your better off on the ground with all that waterproofing and insulation you have, no way in for pests/ drafts. The “chest of drawers” is a sideboard” because it’s not all drawers and has cupboard underneath the drawers & the wood is pine (oak is a much closer/ tighter grain) Don’t go to mad with the tent stove as they’re not really meant for 24/7 use and will warp/buckle if overheated! Have you watched the gutter in the rain on the outhouse yet?Keep up the good work, well done, lots to do Andy.
Now if I were either of you two and as it is raining, same as here in the UK or as in Scotland - Snowing , I'd tend to pull that mattress away from the side wall of the tent and anything else that is in contact with the fabric , as sure as God made little green apples a puncture hole will appear and rain will seep in.
A brilliant solution and addition for accommodation, Speaking from experience I would however suggest that you not put anything against the tent material/sides that touches as this will cause the material to weep and allow water in. Loving following your adventures and all the hard work you are putting into your homestead. very best wishes to you both.
Hi Laura and Dan, great work on the beautiful tent and space inside. one thought I had was when I saw the drawers were touching the canvas on the two corners, you might want to move it in until it's not touching. it looked like everything else was okay from here. The reason I mention this is when it rains water may come in or wet your things there, not sure if it will but thought I mention it just in case. all the best
nice one guys your getting there slowly but surely, love the tent, i would definitely try to raise it up off the ground at some point if you manage to get some more pallets, also a little tip when putting tent pegs in dont put them in straight best at a 45 degree angle so they wont pull out as easy. keep up the great work and stay safe.
😄 @ bell tent activities 🤸🏻♂️💃🏻🕺 😂. How clever of you to spot that slate -- it makes a perfect plinth. Your set up looks so cozy and restful. I wish for you a rain flap to go over your tent for added protection from the elements. I'm so proud of your envisioning and pursuing a better life for yourselves and realizing your dreams practically and thoughtfully. Love how you respect your giving yourselves the time you need to learn as you go, you've got a great outlook on life.
I suggest you figure out the LOWEST point and dig a decent trench to collect the rain off the tent, then dig a channel away from the tent's lowest point., preferably where the water can pool into a pond (or dig one'.The tool is a RECIPROCATING SAW.
I love your attitudes. It is very much a can do, will do attitude. You are adjusting and adapting to your land and new life so well.. It's totally brilliant to see it, esp as you are so young. I am enjoying seeing you grow. Dan, you're not a rag and bone man, more like an upcycler. Now on to the poll dacing... It was lovely to see you having fun. You brighten up many peoples' lives. The tent looks great. The ornaments and such make it look cosy and homely. Please bring your mattress of the side, though, or you may find you get a wet head. The step sounds like a good idea. Some of that felt that you cut from the outside of the tent would make a good door mat and a place to take your clarty boots off. . Are you actively learning portugese, If not, there is a free app that you can download and learn the lingo for free. Another great video with plenty of banter and inuendos mak8ng for a very funny video. X
Just thought you should know always hammer your pegs into the ground on a diagonal angel towards the inner of the tent as when heavy wind blows the pegs won’t pull out thIs method has been proven to be fool proof, I learnt this in army cadets and it does work as I found out when camping out in Dartmoor. Nice video guys enjoying from the freezing 🥶 UK , hey we still get the rag n bone guy coming around are way here on Merseyside lol, take care guys really enjoy your vids 🤲 oh yer watch them Chester draws don’t rip into the tent so you mite want to round them edges off at the back.
Your progress continues and that's a neat stove, you are both quite young so learning a new language should not be to difficult. Auctions and reclamation yards and builders skips are always worth checking out.
Digging the tent. I could live in one of those. Glad you mentioned the barn as I was curious as to why you're not fixing that up. Enjoying your videos. Remember its not about getting to the finish line, it's all about the journey.
Os vossos vídeos são muito bem humorados. Criaram uma tenda com um bom ambiente. Não irão necessitar de ter um duplo teto, que vos isole da chuva, do frio e do calor?
Great idea and job you did in putting up the tent! Enjoyed your sense of humor too! Pole dancing was fun to watch! Always enjoy your videos! Can't wait to see the next one! Michigan subscriber. ❤
Love the Philosophy and the homestead you are building with simple means. Great job again on the bell tent. I am becoming more and more fund of the both of you. Keep going, you are doing great. 😊 Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Hola pareja, realmente un lugar super acogedor y para nada pequeño, creo que suficiente. Me encanta la estufa, calentará la estancia de sobra. Saludos desde Huelva, Andalucía.
Great Bell Tent and decor......for some reason I feel like jumping on a plane to Morocco. 😀😀 😀.... you might need a heat shield of some sort around the back of that heater flute...looks like if it was crankin' it could burn a hole in the material near the exit....🥵😂😂
Aww guys I just loved this episode the bell tent is absolutely amazing and so cosy love all your hippie touches ,can't wait for the next vlog all the best guys.xx ❤️
You two are a breath of fresh air with the outlook you have with your off-grid property. The plans you have can and will change as the property evolves but now you have the bell tent set up which is DRY!!!! That is the bestest move I have seen you do since the rain water tank set up. :)
Guys - well done with the bell tent - looks super.... Watch out for anything touching the tent material. What happens is that water comes in through the material at the point it touches... Move your chest of drawers off the walls. Sounds weird but believe me it lets water run in. Good luck guys.
Oh wow, Dan & Laaura, I absolutely love what you did in the bell tent, you guys are going to love staying in there, I love going camping in our tent, it's more like a bow top caravan, we put rugs on the floor & we even got fold up bed frame, to lift us off the floor & in the bedroom area we have foam flooring, it realy dose make it feel warm, & we don't have a log burner in it, so you too are going to enjoy it, take care, looking forward to your next video 🥰🥰🌷🌷💙💗
Looks good guys but just a small suggestion. As you are not using a raised base what you could do is dig a small trench around the perimeter of the tent. If you have more rain coming then when it falls off the tent, the rain will go into the trench and not under the tent. Obviously you need an outlet for the water :D However if the land is flat the it may be harder for the water to flow out of the trench but you should think about the excess water solution.
That was so funny, it was as if you have found the perfect balance of facts and fun in this episode. You had me laughing out loud at your tent antics. By the way, you said your chest of drawers was Oak but I reckon it’s pine, going by the large grain. Looks dead nice in the tent though. Anyone who reads Dolores Cannon are my kind of people👍🏻🌟❤️
Hi Laura and Dan. It was exciting watching you put up the bell tent and lovely to see the decorating coming together. Just wondered if you have dug a trench at the base taking the water away ? It's always the first thing we do when camping, as heavy rain can send the water from the surrounding area into the tent? Looking forward to seeing how things come together in the garden and on the land.
I am constantly amazed at how resourceful you are. The tent is really nice and I bet it will be fun to live in it while you renovate the barn. I wish you both the best of everything! ❤😊
Good afternoon from sunny UK, Laura & Dan. What a super bell tent, so much useable space and with the cute log burner, it’s going to be a lovely nest for you both. I’ll be sad to see the camper go, but now you’ve got the truck, I suppose you won’t need it much. Looking forward to your next video, in the meantime all the best on your journey. (If you can get those pallets they’ll make a great base for your bed). To 🇵🇹 with love 🇬🇧xx
It such a wonderful pleasure to go on your journey with u to see what u are going to make of the place and c it grow with u thku for sharing jean South africa
Hello and God Bless you Dan and Laura! What amazing blue skies! I love the bell tent and the natural artwork seen from outside brought to you by sunshine. :-) Epic decorating the tent, looks cozy and safe.
Great job guys you, have the same Woodburn as use ,you can also get water heater that fits the burner and provides hot water which will save u on gas .
What lovely attitudes and energy you both have. Have very much enjoyed coming on this journey with you. Dolores Cannon books and crystals make me know you're genuine good souls. All the best going forward.
Please just pad or sponge or tape anything on the back of the set of draws in bell tent, when the wind blows the corner of the unit may rub and wear through the wall of tent ⛺ I absolutely love it it's amazing place ,love all your videos
Just loved this video, i had a good laugh! You two are so funny😂 You've done a lovely job on the bell tent., it must be nice to have more room. Hope you stay warm and dry, keep up the good work, and i hope the weather soon improves and dries up🌞xx
Can't believe pallets are so pricy .Maybe in the future when you want to build something off the ground why not use old car tyres ? Put the tyres down over the area you want off ground preferably using all the same width tyres .Fill the tyres two thirds up with soil and also in between the gaps then you can screw on top some lightweight cheap chipboard or plywood painted to stop it rotting .I reckon old worn out tyres will be cheap if no free and they are indestructible . 3M company make a UV and water repellent spray for soft furnishings .Might it be worth giving the tent a bit of spray if it's not too expensive as the extreme Portugal weather kills tarpaulins and covers .
23:20 Moroccani feel 😂😂😂 Yes guys youz welcome to Morocco 👍👌 I suggest you start converting the little barn and make it livable better than the tent. Wish I was there to give youz a hand, stock in Ireland for now.
We are also an hour away from a sizable city. Even speaking the language and knowing where we are going a trip to town somehow becomes an all day affair. You will learn to bundle everything in that one trip and make the best of it! The tent was a great idea! I was surprised you could actually buy a second hand mattress. Not something we can do here. That's why there is such a boom in air mattresses. Still, great find and I'm sure its a nice break from the van. Pioneers here and generations of nomads worldwide have lived in tents year round, you will adjust. Especially now that everyone told you not to touch the sides of the tent when it rains. If you were to string an additional cover it sort of like a tarp between staves driven into the ground You could shelter it from the worse of the weather. A small ditch around the outside will also keep water from getting in through the floor. All those years in the military really helped when I camped! Outstanding pole moves guys! If it comes right down to starving I believe you may have found another way to support yourselves!
Hello there. You could do with a bigger hammer, instead of waisting all your energy with that toffee hammer you are using at the moment. A Crowbar with be good to make holes in the ground, to make it easier to get your tent pegs in.
Good idea on the tent. Gets you out of the van some. You might need to set the mattress and dresser on something so that they don’t ruin from sitting on damp ground. Excited to see what you guys come up with on your land.
love what your doing great to watch but the stuff in your tent needs pulling away from the sides of the tent as anything touching it will make it leak good luck on your adventures
Along with trimming the tarp and pad material around the tent, you should dig a trench around the tent like a French drainso the water runs away from the 10th if you can give some a trench to run away from the 10th that would be good otherwise it might turn out to be a big puddle if there's a heavy rain...
The shadow of the olive tree on the tent is amazing! You should sell mural prints of that! Glad you're planning to raise up the mattress. Good plan! I enjoy your videos. Best of luck.
Quite amazing & inspiring to see you guys doing so well in that countryside. Looking forward to live in close proximity to nature, but still doing some preparation
Lol, the ⛺️ looks great, but I'm not so sure about slicey time. You both make me lol while watching your antics. Class ..weather looks lovely better than the snow we have..
Are you going to screw the legs of the fire to the base? I notice they are really close to the edge. It's good that you are both frugal it will help towards the work/building on the land.
SMILES , LAUGHTER AND REFLECTING IN THE MOMENTS GROWING TOGETHER. LOOK HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME. MAKING ADJUSTMENTS, LEARNIN TO NAVIGATE THE NEEDS, AND FULFILLING THE GOALS AS YOU LEARN A NEW COUNTRY... BIG CONGRATS TO BOTH OF YOU. EVEN I HAD TO ADJUST, TO BEING OUT OF CALI AND IN IDAHO NOW, 7OO MILES FROM FAMILY, A NEW STATE, COLD WINTER WEATHER, AND STILL NEED TO BUILD ME A HOME TOO. BUT I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED A LOT, ALONE. ENJOY EACH NEW DAY AND THE COOLER WEATHER BEFORE SUMMER COMES. BE BLESSED YA ALL.
You guys make it look so easy It’s good to see you both so content with the simple things in life Old heads on young shoulders lol Ps I’m in the market for a van at the moment. 😅
Thanks so much! The winters in Idaho must be intense, we follow a homesteader who lives there and it doesn't look for the faint-hearted 😆You must feel so proud of what you've accomplished
I've only recently found your video's and I so look forward to seeing them, your a lovely young couple I only wish I had done something like that in my younger days. Every success to you you in the future I look forward to more videos.
Just a thought crossing ... Will the floor in the tent flood in heavy raining ? Will raise flooring help? Farm is looking great..more additions to make life comfortable and inviting 👌 😁. Fun.
I’m looking forward to seeing your progress throughout 2023 and it’s really great to see your channel growing! Don’t forget us OG supporters when you become UA-cam sensations💪🥳👍. 🤣
Hi Susan, when editing the audio sounds different with different headphones which makes it difficult to get the levels right 😆it''s something we're still working on. Thanks for the support 😀
The bell tent is lovely I have now caught up with your videos what an amazing experience I think what you have achieved so far is incredible I look forward to seeing more of your journey thank you for sharing 🤗💞🙏
So glad that I've found your channel!! I had the good fortune to live in the North of Portugal during the early 90's. You are both fantastic young people, live your dream!!
Great video as usual, made me laugh out loud with the pole dancing Dan lol 😂 your hard work is paying off though. Seeing the finished results is inspiring. ❤️
Who thinks Dan works the pole a little too well? 😆
When you said Dan had earned some money on your last trip to the UK, I didn't realise it was from his Pole Dancing Club nights 😂😂
Dan looks a total natural when working that pole although I think that he’s used to a taller silver coloured pole plus he’s not sure about all them clothes he was wearing he’d normally be in a pair of budgie smugglers.😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Right at home there! 😂🤣
Great video guys you did really well with that tent! Looks great now it's up and the wood stove etc ideal!
Scored getting that tarp and felt to go under the matting aswell!
Proper funny you two always end up chuckling!
Just catching up on this one and the latest one double header lol 😂
Loving the singing bowls, lamps and Rug, very Zen! ☯️♾️👍🏴🇬🇧
I find that I look forward to your videos. For an old guy like me it's a joy to see two such hopeful, energetic and hardworking young people. Bless you for sharing.
That's so sweet! we appreciate you tuning in 😀
Make sure the ground slope away from the tent, you do not want the rain to puddle under the tent. Well done for cutting off the excess, I would be tempted do a small trench all around and away just to ensure the rain water goes away from the tent.
Try to make some airflow under the matras to keep it dry there. Love to see your videos 🥰
👍looked lick that blade was round the wrong way 👍
We're learning 😆
Maybe put the matress on palettes...needs to breathe to stop mold and moisture🤗
Yeah, we will raise it when we find something to put it on 😀
Brilliant video Dan & Laura.
Tent looks beautiful. The shadow from the olive tree is the cherry on top
It really is, thanks for tuning in 😀
Have you considered putting a trench around the drip line to catch rain and drain the water away from the bell tent?
"As you go, step by step I will open up the way before you" Proverbs 4:12🥰
Don’t be afraid to show your trips to the city and the problems you experience. I think it’s interesting to watch
You two are such lovely shiny stars 🌟🌟🌟.
I laughed out loud at your tent antics, lol. Such a great sense of humour.

Thanks Kim, we're slowly getting there 😀
Hey my friends, I think these stakes should place at an angle to take the pressure if there's a high wind
You are amazing! Always with a positive attitude!
Can wait for the next vlog 😊
Boa aventura!😊

My thoughts exactly! 😆

Excellent video, you will need to Fabseal the tent to keep it UV protected and water proof
That instrument in the Bell Tent is an African KALIMBA or thumb piano.

The music threw me half way through, its the Shawn James/My Self Reliance music for those who watch that channel as well
Us too…. And our dog came running in to see Calli😂😂, he also knows the tune !

Hey, you have a little round house! I bet its good to get out of the van. My wife and I sleep on pallets, they make a good base.
Thanks Matt, it's good to have the extra space 😀
An electric blanket helps a lot as well and only about 35w so they don't make a dint in the solar.
Finally caught up with all your older videos and can watch this one in real time! good luck folks - doing great 👍🏻
I am constantly amazed at how resourceful you are. The tent is really nice and I bet it will be fun to live in it while you renovate the barn. I wish you both the best of everything! ❤😊

23:20 Moroccani feel 😂😂😂 Yes guys youz welcome to Morocco 👍👌 I suggest you start converting the little barn and make it livable better than the tent. Wish I was there to give youz a hand, stock in Ireland for now.
Yeah we're starting the barn soon 😀
Thanks for the tips Maurice 😀
Along with trimming the tarp and pad material around the tent, you should dig a trench around the tent like a French drainso the water runs away from the 10th if you can give some a trench to run away from the 10th that would be good otherwise it might turn out to be a big puddle if there's a heavy rain...
Thanks will look into this to see what you completely mean. :)
The shadow of the olive tree on the tent is amazing! You should sell mural prints of that! Glad you're planning to raise up the mattress. Good plan! I enjoy your videos. Best of luck.
Dança do varão 😃😃😃😃😃😹
😆
Watching from the Philippines…love watching your vids❤
You guys are doing a great job 😊
congrats on the next step in the journey folks. I was very nervous when you were cutting the chimney stack hole into the tee-pee! Well done again
Quite amazing & inspiring to see you guys doing so well in that countryside. Looking forward to live in close proximity to nature, but still doing some preparation
Lol, the ⛺️ looks great, but I'm not so sure about slicey time. You both make me lol while watching your antics. Class ..weather looks lovely better than the snow we have..
ha thanks Julie yea its up and down here one minute sunshine next storms
Are you going to screw the legs of the fire to the base? I notice they are really close to the edge. It's good that you are both frugal it will help towards the work/building on the land.
Thanks Judith, yeah we will 😀
You have made a great start to your new life, great feeling to know you have accomplished a lot.
Thanks Robert really means a lot. Hope you continue to follow our journey
Nice! Pay attention for the chaminé stay in center of the circle, not joke with fire 🤔😉
will do!
All I can say is Cool!
Hi guys, love the tree patterns on the tent.
This is my favorite from all of the off grid projects chanels which I'm following. Keep up the good work.
You guys make it look so easy It’s good to see you both so content with the simple things in life Old heads on young shoulders lol
Ps I’m in the market for a van at the moment.
Every success to you you in the future I look forward to more videos.
dan working that pole tho 🙈😂🤣😂 nice set up that bell tent is 👍💪
Just a thought crossing ... Will the floor in the tent flood in heavy raining ? Will raise flooring help?
Farm is looking great..more additions to make life comfortable and inviting 👌 😁. Fun.
We're gonna dig a trench around the tent as others have suggested 😀

Sounds good 😀
I’m looking forward to seeing your progress throughout 2023 and it’s really great to see your channel growing! Don’t forget us OG supporters when you become UA-cam sensations💪🥳👍. 🤣
I'm really enjoying watching your videos. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Take care from the UK.
The volume is so very low, Laura. Dan is such a tease. Our last canvas tent once took a month to dry out! Best wishes from Susan in East Yorkshire.
Aww I love the tent, its so cosy. A nice place to retreat to after a hard day with more room for you. Love it!
Have you consider adding a canopy cover at the entrance of the bell tent? That will help the transition in foul weather condition into the tent.
So glad that I've found your channel!! I had the good fortune to live in the North of Portugal during the early 90's. You are both fantastic young people, live your dream!!
Consider trenching around the tent. Old camping trick to keep water from undermining the tent. It will help keep you dry. Well done on the tent
Great video as usual, made me laugh out loud with the pole dancing Dan lol 😂 your hard work is paying off though. Seeing the finished results is inspiring. ❤️
Thanks Carl, dan is a little too good at the pole dancing lol
