Just waiting for the new loo to arrive :) Very exciting now folks as we just have the windows and a few finishing touches to go! Windows will be done professionally BTW ! Do you get near ship's chandlers? Yachts & small boats have a spring as a stay for the cupboard doors, when it's holding the door open it's straight & you pop it sideways to close the door, if you get it mounted exactly right it will also hold the door closed with its springiness. They're marine-grade stainless steel & they come with screw-on brackets attached.
Handles shmandles , use the holes, nothing to bang your head on ! Looking good guys❤
Hah, yeah we thought this but then we thought the wood will get grubby quite quickly being white..

When you say you are basic...I LOVE that. I'm dealing with a home reno and the designer keeps pushing granite and marble and 1000 dollar kitchen faucets and I tell them no...I don't want that. I want plain old subway tiles and plain old floor tiles and the faucet I have is only 2 years old and I thought it was expensive at $200. They don't get it!

I loved watching those one day home renovation shows from UK, and one designer there, always completely messed up the assessment, meaning you could see on their faces at the reveal, that disappointed in shock kinda look.. 😅
Don't worry about the no handles and the like.. make an adventure out of hunting down the last of the detailed stuff.. like a treasure hunt. 🔍 You've got all the important core stuff figured out. What a Journey. Well done Dear Ones. 🎉❤ HOORAY 😅

Here is an idea. We have added a basket to the sliding step as an outside used dog poo carrier in case of there not being a bin. Don’t want it inside the camper 💩 Made from an old kitchen door basket and sprayed black.

Looking good! I would be a bit embarrassed to go to the bathroom with my head sticking out of the hole. It doesn’t feel private but that is just me. Love those cute little doggies!
You got me choking on my drink there 😂! Maybe a hole to pop your head through with the lids shut 😂😅! A bit like the old-fashioned steam baths. Sorry, that just fired up my imagination and it cracked me up. Cheers 😂
😂😂.. There’s only Nick and I in the van and we are more than happy to use the loo in front of each other.. Also there will be a shower curtain you can pull around for privacy.. At the end of the day it’s a van!! A lot of folk don’t even have a bathroom at all! We certainly didn’t in Vinny and lived in that for years!

You could just put holes in all the cupboard doors and surround them with rubber or something then you wouldn't need handles. You are doing great. What do you have to do with paperwork now? The fur babies know exactly which van to go in. Bless them.
We may still add holes to all those cupboard doors as well as the handles (down the line) we have to get the van approved as a camper now.. Should all work out ok 👌 cheers xx
Put 2 permanent sides on the shower top, that the lids can rest against when lifted up! Then get a couple of (or 1 big one) of the plastic containers that will fit on top of the lids while travelling. You can then use them for extra storage space for clothes..towels etc. When you want to use toilet, shower, just lift them off and lift the flaps up as normal. The permanent sides will stop the containers from moving during travel! 👍😊
Good idea although we do have heaps of storage in the van already! But you never know we may need more so will keep your idea in mind 😊

Love the holes in the overhead doors, you don’t need a handle, you can use the holes 😁

Why not put webbing straps on the bottom of the cupboard doors as handles 😅that could hook onto hooks on the top of the cupboard frame work to hold the doors open. Save you having to use onee hand (or your head) to hold the doors open.

Great idea! We already got some handles busy aren’t sure about them now😂.. Nit sure what you mean by attaching them to the top of the frame work though 🤔
A small loop of webbing (it could be a colour matching your colour scheme) on the cupboard door at the bottom could be used to pull open the doors. When the door is open the loop could be used to attach to some type of hook on the ceiling or on the top frame of the cupboards. Hard to explain without a diagram.
Vans coming together nicely....go for the dark...or black window's...our had dark ones in when we got the van...ideal for privacy...infact I can sit on my bench seat look out...wave to people...pull funny faces... and they are none the wiser...so ideal for your Dad Dancing Sarah and Nick...😂...

If you watch a vlog from The Jammy Gits on UA-cam they have a shower in their van in the middle of their kitchen.
They used plastic conduits joined at the corners with 4 clips to make a shower rail,I reckon this would work perfectly in your van.

I also saw some van lifers who use a hoola hoop they they string up for showers. Brilliant.
We use a hula hoop in Vinny and it worked really well, something simple for sure! Will check out the jammy Gits 😊

I laughed when you said about the mattresses being hard. I drove to the beach one day , climbed into the back, sat down on something REAALY hard and for a split second I thought someone had been in and stolen my mattress and I was sitting on the wood!! It was just cold!

Cabinets! Ugggg, I feel your pain. (Especially when one drops the last perfect size screw, arg! Where da fudge did it go?!!!) I spent last 2 days fussing with a cabinet that swings open and has a spice rack on the door. Of course I put the hinges on the wrong side, so a few "Do Ova"! Weather here is in the 90'sF and I have no shade...BRUTAL!...oh and the big monster horse flies are coming out. (Did you know they work in teams as one is in front distracting and the other comes from behind and extracts, OUCH!) And YES, moving in a soap dispenser and a rug counts as moving in! You Got This! Wheeee! 👏👏👏

Hard surface to sleep on = good for your back? Well... if only... my fysio told me (years of horrble pain in my back) o.k. so.. if lying on the floor relaxes your body then YESS you need a hard mattress. If not: memory foam for instance will do the trick! Did it ever! Slept on memory foam like a baby! So. Its not as black/white as you put it. Hope this helps (viewers)

Get some longish (15-20 cm) steel springs to hold the cabinet doors open. Mounted 45 degrees, they are like stiff rods. Bend them and they get out of the way, allowing the doors to close. Cheap, simple, robust. Cheers - Folker 😀

@@theexPAWers Sure. They make those spiral springs with two eyelets at the end, meant to pull things together, i.e. contract. They are coiled very tightly, and they are very stiff at rest. Naturally, if you put pressure on them lengthwise (eye to eye) they are fully compressed and behave no different from a steel rod. They can hold up a cabinet door.
This is the type of spring I mean: (example, not exact)

However, being springs, they are also bendy. 😀The slightest pressure sideways (perpendicular), and they bend like a cooked noodle. This effect can be used for your doors. Opening the door allows the spring to straighten up, becoming the rod to hold the door open. To close the door, bend the spring, and it will move out of the way, allowing the door to close.
Advantages:
Sturdy - only one spring per door and side.
Dirt cheap - under 20 EUR for all your doors incl. screws, angles, washers to mount.
Reliable - no pressure issues, no leaks like gas shocks can have.
Disadvantage:
Opening a door works with one hand. Closing the door requires both hands, one to hold the door and one to bend the spring.
My guess would be from your video, you need springs of 15-20 cm in length and 10-15 mm in coil diameter. Perhaps you can find them at Obramat, otherwise E-Bay. The are called "tension springs" or "pull springs" in English, "muelle de tracción" in Spanish, "ressort de traction" in French, and "Zugfeder" in German.

H Guys, considering what you have achieved I really do think that fitting the two windows is easily do-able. I’ve done 2 max fans and 4 windows in my Relay and it’s not that difficult, just watch loads of YT vids, all you need is the window the correct adhesive and a drill and Jigsaw with a metal cutting blade, don’t spend 1000’s YOU CAN DO IT 👍👍👍. Also where’s the diesel heater going you u have not mentioned it all this year ??
Thanks for the feedback.. We really think that doing the windows ourselves will be tricky but we’ll see.. need to make the decision this weekend! We have a webasto heater in the van already (under the driver seat) it was factory built and works fabulously, comes from the front of the van so the lounge/bedroom gets warm really quick xx
