Thank you for watching! When you are practising 12 bar blues, what are the most challenging aspects for you?
Wonderful to have made a new Blues Video for our LCSP UA-cam channel.
Playing with four fingers to make the 7th chords, which are essential to the structure, but not easy for a 73 year old improver. Thanks for a very good tutorial. Geoff.
hand indepedence. any tips to keep thar rhythm going in the left hand..
@@rodneymanthengamanthenga7638 yes , repetition and repetition, combined with slow practice. A nice simple trick is to play the left hand on a loop for a few minutes and have a chat with someone at the same time. You are trying to install autopilot into the left hand.

Hi Tom. Thanks for another video. Now ...challenging for me haha where do I start lol? Small hands with big 4 chord stretches, understanding which chords to use in the bass with differing major and minor scales and practicing inversions (my brain has to think on it feet). Some lessons on using major and minor pentatonics would be good all in one video if possible. But thanks again for a lovely lesson. 😊🎹🎵🎶
Hi Allison. It sounds like you need more than UA-cam to guide you on your musical journey to break you through those challenges. If you contact us through www.contemporaryschoolofpiano.com we can give you a guest pass to one of our in house school seminars (they are interactive virtual classes) YT will only get you so far on these topics. We have a community of pianists facing and breaking through similar challenges.
Thanks Tom, I'll check it out (I'm not too techno with the interaction on the tablet that I use). Have a look at my piano playing (tap my head haha, Have a look at my Iron Maiden attempt if you are game lol). I obviously need some help but have managed before yt ha. Thanks again and I'll have a look at the site. Leave a comment if you look at me playing... and subscribe hehe 😁😊🎵🎹
Merci for this. I've got a channel for anyone that has pains while playing, or if you just want exercises to prevent low back pain that doesn't take more than 30 seconds a day.

Many thanks for your question. I used ChatGPT to translate your question into English. The answer to your question is that a 12-bar blues progression can be modified in numerous ways. For instance, the sequence 1 4 1 1 4 4 1 1 5 4 1 5 includes a "turnaround" 5 chord at the end to aid in the continuity of the music, and the use of the chord 4 in the second bar creates a bit more contrast. Here is another popular 12-bar blues progression found in jazz: 1 4 1 1 4 4♯dim 1 6 2 5 1 5. There are further variations, such as a minor 12-bar blues and a bebop 12-bar blues, as utilized in Charlie Parker's composition "Blues for Alice", which is even more complex. The fundamental rule is that there should be 12 bars, and the movement from the 5th to the 4th chord towards the end of the progression is also very important, although composers often enjoy experimenting with the formula. You might find it interesting to study pieces like "Freddie Freeloader" by Miles Davis, where he concludes the 12-bar blues progression with a ♭7 chord, or Wayne Shorter's "Footprints", which explores numerous advanced harmonic patterns within a 12-bar blues framework, but in 3/4 time! I hope this answer helps. I have also translated it into Korean, and I hope the translation is accurate. Sending many greetings from London; it's a pleasure to converse with you.
