There will be one more problem. If we cut seal steam before killing vacuum, air will ingress through gland seal and will cool the gland seal strips. As the profile of seal strips is very thin, they will contract and touch the shaft. Shaft being thick in profile will not contract in the same pace. This will cause jamming of rotor

Nice explanation Sir. By the way I am working on a project where OEM has quoted steam turbine ( HP and LP two separate cylinders) without Gland Steam Condenser. Have you heard or it it practical to accept ST without GSC ?
Can we discuss?

Generally GSC is used to extract the heat from the gland steam to heat condensate water.Most of the plant used GSC.It may be some other design aspects to utilise the gland steam .
Turbine having seal present on both end to avoid the steam loss from their ends .

I have sent you an email. Also one quick question. Approximately how much percentage of cycle efficiency we are gaining by recovering heat from GSC to condensate water ? Less than 0.5 % ?
