The guy literally explains why. If he pleads guilty, case closed and he gets sentenced based upon the existing charges. If he pleads not guilty, there are hearings, etc and his lawyer can potentially negotiate a plea deal where he pleads guilty to reduced charges. It could potentially mean years, if not decades, off his sentence.

Ok. Here's the story. The sheriff's wife & Daughter were trying to leave. The Judge helped them . The sheriff found out & thats why when he was arrested he stated. " They are trying to kidnap my wife & daughter".......The judge was not molesting the daughter. People saying there's no way a guy would waste his career by doing this. Something had to had happened to his daughter by the Judge. No! The sheriff was a controlling husband & father. His wife & daughter were afraid of him. They were trying to get out. The sheriff lost it. Like most controlling & abusive men do. So, all y'all trying to make this a relationship between Judge & daughter I'm sorry for you. Ain't happening.

There are channels who erroneously tagged the judge as a predator and actually tried to support the shooter, claiming he was a dad protecting his daughter, who found his number on her phone. Well, it's now been revealed that the shooters wife and daughter were being ab*sed by this father, and the judge was helping them escape the torment. Thats why his details were on their phone.
The daughter and mother had called him for help. This was a kind judge trying to help. I hope all those people who jumped to conclusions are proud of themselves.

Sheriff was also under investigation for another situation.
He was essentially losing total control over his wife & daughter and at risk for losing his job/prison time for the other situation.
His life was falling apart & he took it out initially on the Judge who'd helped his wife & daughter escape him. Had he not been arrested, I wonder what his plans were for his wife & daughter. I think they're very lucky to still be alive.
