Hey guys just a quick note about this video. I should have pointed out that the crit rate on the A3 of Eva is actually +15% plus the 18% aura. Due to that, her baseline numbers were actually much higher than you'd expect with a 51% crit rate as I mentioned in the video. This doesn't, however, change any of the advice I gave in the video regarding the reddit post's suggestions on your ATK vs CRIT DMG ratio. I could have done a much better job with a different champion and different gear testing in illustrating that point. Thank you!
A few things I'd like to point out as my own research led me here, if your interested I would love to spice up an email but the main point: Instead of 10% Cdmg for every 20% Atk, aim for 100% Crit rate, 100% Cdmg and 100% Atk. From there evenly increase Atk% and Cdmg. This does not include flat stats which give more value to crit R&D and excludes weak affinity match ups which reduce crit R&D value. This makes graphing more reliable and you can almost always avoid a bad affinity matchup anyway.
Get atk to 2.5 times base atk CR to at least 50 Keep CR & CD equal on thru 100% Once CR=100, increase CD to 150% Add 10%CD for every 20% increase of base atk
There are minor exceptions to this with % MAX HP skills like cold heart and royal guard. But at 50% Bonus Attack they both produce the same damage output. For example These two are different but as soon as we add more stats they are the same. Crit Damage 50% Bonus Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 0 Crit Damage = 2 Total Damage = 2000 ATK 50% Bonus Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 500 Crit Damage = 1.5 Total Damage = 2250 Crit Damage 100% Bonus Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 0 Crit Damage = 2 .5 Total Damage = 2500 ATK 100% Bonus Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 1000 Crit Damage = 1.5 Total Damage = 3000 So crit damage lags behind until you give it something to work with. Crit damage 50% + ATK 50% Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 500 Crit Damage = 2 Total Damage = 3000 Now it is equal to ATK (It is important to note here that if you continue adding purely to one side you will once again see a gap develop as ATK shows its dominance). Example: Crit damage 100% + ATK 50% Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 500 Crit Damage = 2 .5 Total Damage = 3750 Crit damage 50% + ATK 100% Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 1000 Crit Damage = 2 Total Damage = 4000 This gap is fully closed at 100% bonus ATK Crit damage 100% + ATK 100% Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 1000 Crit Damage = 2 .5 Total Damage = 5000 Crit damage 50% + ATK 150% Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 1500 Crit Damage = 2 Total Damage = 5000 Now adding purely to one side will keep them identical to each other Crit damage 150% + ATK 100% Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 1000 Crit Damage = 3 Total Damage = 6000 Crit damage 50% + ATK 200% Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 2000 Crit Damage = 2 Total Damage = 6000 By balancing them as if they were scales you can achieve the most growth in your damage. Crit damage 125% + ATK 125% Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 1250 Crit Damage = 2 .75 Total Damage = 6187.5 It is also important to keep in mind that buffs and ratios have no affect on this outcome.
this is slightly false... there is definitely a point where one should be higher than the other. Specifically, attack should be about 50% above crit. EX: Crit damage 100% + ATK 150% Base Attack = 1000 Bonus Attack = 1500 Crit Damage = 2 .5 Total Damage = 6250 This is the optimal damage output I believe. More specifically, you want to copy and scale this exact 1 to 1.5 ratio no matter what your stats are. So when Ash says "crit dmg is so much better" Dont be fooled and think he is telling you to only care about crit dmg... You need to reach this perfect ratio and balance, so definitely put effort into attack to achieve this, otherwise you wont gain anything from his generic advice towards crit dmg vs attack dmg.
Cool, but u didnt really demonstrate the value of ATK vs CRIT DMG. As both tests still had roughly 5k over all ATK. Essentially u just demonstrated 80% more crit damage, at the risk of not critting as much. Which is a no brainer. Id like to see a Video that actually demonstrates that 80% more crit damage will be more damage, even with 2k less attack. I know this is the case, Diablo 3 was the same way. Scaling Crit rate/dmg is always gonna yield more total damage but this video didnt show that.
Yh it didn't really do anything he just swapped some crit rate gloves for some crit dmg gloves and didn't drop any attack what is this proving? I'm confused
Yeh the other portion of this discussion is that it isn't discussed when and where to use this knowledge. For a Campaign farmer it is paramount to have 100% crit and then you just need enough attack and crit dmg to one shot the waves. Then for Clanboss depending on your team these are just tertiary stats when you get everything else in line. The scaling does follow D3 but the application is completely different.
since math is an exact science than math is the answer. if you have 1k attack on a champ with 15%CR and 50%CDmg you should be doing, in 100 attacks, an average of 107500 dmg. if you have 750atk 15%CR and 100%CDmg you should be doing 86250dmg. if you have 750atk 50%CR and 50%CDmg than you should do in average 93750dmg. This is just basic math since buffs or debuffs are not included. Isnt this enough to know what will be better in a specific champ? Am i missing something or...?
Just a heads up to everyone if you have queen Eva you do not need to build her crit rate to 100% you only need to build 61%. Her aura gives her 19%, so that's 80%, then her a3 gives her an additional 15% which is 95%, and lastly the crit mastery will give the last 5% for 100
1. Eva only needs 66% crit chance for farming 12-3. She gets 15% from her A3 and she has a 19% aura which makes it 100% 2. When champions damage scales of 2 sources. The one which is first is main focus. For example; Coldheart her A3. Enemy max HP & attack. It scales mostly on crit damage. So you can use hp% armor for survivability. Example 2. Mountain King A3 > HP & Attack. Scales mostly on HP. 3A. Generally go for 250% and for max 4k attack/defense. If you want more attack/defense, also go higher on crit damage. 3B. Defensive characters also benefit more from stacking defense since obviously you take less damage and do more damage.
yup when you build your damage dealer the threshold for outrageous max number of damage is around 5k atk, 100% crit chance and 240-260 crit damage or more :) if it's possible with rng gears dropped from dungeons :) Endgame build is always crit damage glove and then hustle up the crit chance with substat, great vid btw.
Thanks Ash. Even though this is not totally current, your advice has definately worked so far. I swapped out a CRIT RATE % for CRIT DMG % gear, losing over 50% CR but C DMG to almost 150% i.e. +50% on what I had, plus game me some speed substat. Lost my Life Steal bonus, but that didn't seem to matter as if you get hit heavy then it doesn't really help you. Sorry no pic to share, but Doompriest 50, Zavia 42, Apothecary 60, Kael 60 all fully ASC (except Zavia) Kael gave me :101,801 atk, 34,728 s, 2,568 + (against Jareg 50, Athel 60, Apothecary 60, Skullcrusher 50) - I got slaughtered without Zavia due to using Dark Ethel Magic, so adding in a Force made much of that difference, but I def cleared a lot quicker the rest of that level.
Funny that this old video popped up for me today. I checked it just out of curiosity, to see what still holds up; but what struck me the most is the level of the changes we've seen since. No filter in the gear! ouch!
I love the knowledge, humor, and continued learning by you as we all that come to your channel look forward to. 😎 Someday, I would love to see you do a study guide on the skin walker Brakus the Shifter. He is one of my personal favorites. Thank you for all that you do!!
Remarkable video. Very clear, interesting and well presented. It will improve my game play a lot and I look forward to reading more of the same sort of thing. I also thought it was very fair how ASH presented it in a lively way with his clear commentary, on screen demonstrations and recommedations, but also presented the Beerwalker post and make it clear that it was his ideas and research.
i stumbled on beerwalkers post the other day on reddit. i think alot of it is still valid. but some of it seems like it has changed a bit in the time since he wrote that. great video as always though. much love
showing you're newness to this kind of thing, even without research I was aware crit dmg is going to be the end game dmg stat as it's mutiplicitive.I never look for base attack, if the item isn't crit rate/crit dmg/speed/defense%/hp% I usually just bin it. acc/ress ofc are things we're looking for but I'm talking about a general approach not specific things like acc banners etc
Who gives a shit about throwing slight insults at him like showing your newness! He's just trying to share some knowledge, which is a good thing! Shows your ignorance!
Now that’s some useful information ash, as a fairly new player I was wondering about attack % and crit dmg. Could you also show a video when you have sorted her gear out, would be nice to see the difference 👍🏻
When i equip my 80% crit glove, i end up with 49% crit rate. How the heck do i raise my crit rate when all my gear has crit rate/crit dmg as substats already and glyphed??
hey ash, ususally i dont comment on videos but i had to thank you for this video because even though i knew cdmg > atk% i didnt know the exact ratios. This is one of your best videos in my opinion.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but.. I think the calculation is even more simple then it shows in the video. Essentially, it's your attack power multiplied by Crit damage = Damage. Now here is the part that probably confuses almost everyone.... Lets say you have the basic 50% Crit damage every champion starts with. You must realize that 50% crit damage MEANS 150% DAMAGE!!! I hope you can understand why i say that. Even if the game gave you 0% starting crit damage that DOES NOT mean you will do 0 damage. Perhaps it makes more sense if i put it this way. Lets say your champion's default base attack is 500. You throw on some gear and you get +100 attack. And just like crit damage, the extra 100 attack DOES NOT mean your adding 100% more damage. Actually your damage goes up 20% from the 100, and your total damage is 120% compared to your base attack. You must calculate CRIT damage the same way.
QUEEN EVA has 19% increase crit rate aura and her a3 has 15% increase crit rate so eith your current stats she has 85% crit rate please dont give new ppl wrong info make sure first
Thanks for sharing, I don't agree with the conclusion drawn here. In the first build you had 5800 atk and 166 crit dmg, in the second build you have 5500 atk (only about 5%less vs 5800) and 246 (48% more vs 166) crit damage. If you can raise crit damage by 48% while lowering ATK by only 5% you will deal more damage.
Whilst I agree with Crit damage being better attack% should not be shrugged off or ignored!!! I've done plenty of testing with power hitters like Faceless and Mountain King. 300% crit damage plus is plenty for arena,cb, and Campaign. But you are losing out on up 70k EXTRA damage if you choose acc stats or speed stats instead of the extra attack %. This is because Crit damage is still based purely on attack with an additional multiplier. Now this is not a substitute or replace for speed, speed is still important as well but it doesn't matter how many times you attack if you can one shot your opponents sure it is important to hit as many times as possible but there is less of a reason to if each of your hero's can one shot one of your opponents. So long as you are faster than your opponents (which you should strive to be) your main nukers and single target damage dealers will be untouchable in damage dealing.
I could be mistaken but i believe you're misrepresenting the attack vs crit damage. In your second queen eva build, the one with the crit damage gloves, all you did was substitute crit rate with crit damage. Your total attack didnt change much. Of course you're going to do much more damage with 80% more crit damage and the same amount of attack! What I wanted to see was a big drop in her total attack but an increase in crit damage. That would've told me which one was better to build. Someone tell me I'm wrong, please. Or that im thinking of this the wrong way because i rly wanna know
the crit dmg is based on this: [(attack + crit dmg% ) / enemy champion def] ; from 166% crit dmg to 246% crit dmg and the difference was not even 100%; 31k - 53k with 166% crit dmg and 46k - 65k with 246% crit dmg. so: (5765 + 21100 + champion masteries + artifact set + skill bonus) - (enemy champion def + skills bonus + artifact set + masteris + what other def things) = from 31k to 53k or 46k to 65k based on all bonuses. and all those data don't really fit on the screen...
actually 2.5 x of base attack barrier little wrong. it is have to 2x. even at 2x point % c.dmg better than %atk. For eva, 1700x2=3400x1.66=5644 lets add %10 atk ,1700x2.1=3570x1.66=5926 or add %10c.dmg, 3400x1.76=5984 see. so dont bother with %atk items items if you have 1.8-2x base atk.(if you have %c.dmg items to replace :D)
We need a training room. something we can use to test champions in fight without wasting energy, or "edit" artifacts and put them on a champion so we know what we will get on a specific champ with all the other artifacts and sets without doing the einstein math. we need more info on the champs abilities related to numbers, multipliers being the most important. We need to be able to "edit" a champion stars as we want so we dont need to spend all our silver, energy and TIME on a common or uncommon champions just because we want to have a little bit fun doing something different...for days!
Ash hasn't posted the link to Beerwalker's post, but here it is www.reddit.com/r/RaidShadowLegends/comments/axrjsk/game_mechanics_summary_gearing_calculator/
Rather, CD gloves, and with crit rate substats on items. You'll easily overcap on CR with 6* CR gloves and just 2 6* items with multiple CR subrolls, but there's no overcapping on CD.
over a year of grinding this game... maxed out heros still do less damage than people who haven't max theirs out... ive tried everything even tried working on my halls... the game makes no sense, probably as im a FREE2play person ive notice friends that spend loads get way better drops and way easier opponents in pvp. also trying to grind weapons or shards on events i get the opposite to what i need etc.
most of people talking about this game.. soo many videos but you guys dont show exactly the items! i mean i consider having such awesome gear and when i look to my stats its like set give 2k attack .. 180% crit damage now i see your card having only from set 4k attack? like wtf? show me the items!!! i neet to see the items! how can you get 4k attack ?
I can understand why HP and defence based champions are so good. Some people who do guides tell U about get your crit rate and crit dam in certain % but neglect to say what total attack should be around. Oh well back to the drawing board
hey bro big fan from japan here. Can you help us again with mountain king bro? Cause he was [ATK] and [HP] base champ. How can we apply this method to him. TIA 🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻🙇🏻♂️
Reuel cruz When a champion has damage based off of two stats it’s largely the first stat listed that factors the most. So with Mountain King his damage is listed as HP as well as ATT, in that order. So you get more damage out of him with HP, which is great because it makes him more survival able as well. It just means that if you roll a few sub stats that hit attack, it actually helps a bit too. Which makes him slightly easier to gear than other people. But with all champions based on two factors for damage, the first one listed is weighed heavier.
Ash...You should redo this video with the current meta. I bet it would get a lot of views. Go further into detail on this cause there are definitely some things missing from this equation.
Hey guys just a quick note about this video. I should have pointed out that the crit rate on the A3 of Eva is actually +15% plus the 18% aura. Due to that, her baseline numbers were actually much higher than you'd expect with a 51% crit rate as I mentioned in the video. Hey. I’m a Clofty fan and you are doing great and a great youtuber. Keep up the good work🙂👍🏽
A few things I'd like to point out as my own research led me here, if your interested I would love to spice up an email but the main point:
Instead of 10% Cdmg for every 20% Atk, aim for 100% Crit rate, 100% Cdmg and 100% Atk. From there evenly increase Atk% and Cdmg.
This does not include flat stats which give more value to crit R&D and excludes weak affinity match ups which reduce crit R&D value.
This makes graphing more reliable and you can almost always avoid a bad affinity matchup anyway.
omg, glad I found your vid!.., thanx for it!
.. looking forward to your next vids
Thanks! Been playing 2 years in Nov., and now FINALLY I understand how to better equip my champs.
Get atk to 2.5 times base atk
CR to at least 50
Keep CR & CD equal on thru 100%
Once CR=100, increase CD to 150%
Add 10%CD for every 20% increase of base atk
There are minor exceptions to this with % MAX HP skills like cold heart and royal guard. But at 50% Bonus Attack they both produce the same damage output. For example These two are different but as soon as we add more stats they are the same.
Crit Damage 50% Bonus
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 0
Crit Damage = 2
Total Damage = 2000
ATK 50% Bonus
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 500
Crit Damage = 1.5
Total Damage = 2250
Crit Damage 100% Bonus
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 0
Crit Damage = 2
.5
Total Damage = 2500
ATK 100% Bonus
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 1000
Crit Damage = 1.5
Total Damage = 3000
So crit damage lags behind until you give it something to work with.
Crit damage 50% + ATK 50%
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 500
Crit Damage = 2
Total Damage = 3000
Now it is equal to ATK (It is important to note here that if you continue adding purely to one side you will once again see a gap develop as ATK shows its dominance).
Example:
Crit damage 100% + ATK 50%
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 500
Crit Damage = 2
.5
Total Damage = 3750
Crit damage 50% + ATK 100%
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 1000
Crit Damage = 2
Total Damage = 4000
This gap is fully closed at 100% bonus ATK
Crit damage 100% + ATK 100%
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 1000
Crit Damage = 2
.5
Total Damage = 5000
Crit damage 50% + ATK 150%
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 1500
Crit Damage = 2
Total Damage = 5000
Now adding purely to one side will keep them identical to each other
Crit damage 150% + ATK 100%
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 1000
Crit Damage = 3
Total Damage = 6000
Crit damage 50% + ATK 200%
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 2000
Crit Damage = 2
Total Damage = 6000
By balancing them as if they were scales you can achieve the most growth in your damage.
Crit damage 125% + ATK 125%
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 1250
Crit Damage = 2
.75
Total Damage = 6187.5
It is also important to keep in mind that buffs and ratios have no affect on this outcome.
this is slightly false... there is definitely a point where one should be higher than the other. Specifically, attack should be about 50% above crit. EX:
Crit damage 100% + ATK 150%
Base Attack = 1000
Bonus Attack = 1500
Crit Damage = 2

Total Damage = 6250

Great video..everytime I think I've figured it out. I get new info and have to rethink everything
Queen eva has crit rate aura 19% and crit chance on her skill 15% so it’s not 51% it’s actually 85% that you have on her
You needed to remove her attack chest or attack boots to make it a true test
yup when you build your damage dealer the threshold for outrageous max number of damage is around 5k atk, 100% crit chance and 240-260 crit damage or more :) if it's possible with rng gears dropped from dungeons :) Endgame build is always crit damage glove and then hustle up the crit chance with substat, great vid btw.

_Young ASH looks here like,_
_...One of the McKenzie Brothers, you hoser eh !?_
Pretty much rule of thumb. The damage that scales off of 2 different stats. Generally the first stat listed is the better stat to work up
Dumb it down for us....feels like I’m re-doing an Econ 300 class.
When i equip my 80% crit glove, i end up with 49% crit rate. How the heck do i raise my crit rate when all my gear has crit rate/crit dmg as substats already and glyphed??
Hey i did just as you said replacing crit rate for crit dam but my bellower's dps is way lower... would you explain this pls?
hey ash, ususally i dont comment on videos but i had to thank you for this video because even though i knew cdmg > atk% i didnt know the exact ratios.
QUEEN EVA has 19% increase crit rate aura and her a3 has 15% increase crit rate so eith your current stats she has 85% crit rate please dont give new ppl wrong info make sure first
GooD.
Thanks for sharing,
I don't agree with the conclusion drawn here.
In the first build you had 5800 atk and 166 crit dmg, in the second build you have 5500 atk (only about 5%less vs 5800) and 246 (48% more vs 166) crit damage.
If you can raise crit damage by 48% while lowering ATK by only 5% you will deal more damage.
My Bystophus is at 4,213 Att, 76 Cr, 169 CD and 191 speed, is there anything I should change? Like, should I shoot for 100% Cr is is 76 enough?
What champion scales off of speed as that sounds scary
Rowan in the banner lords faction has an attack that scales off speed and attack
Rowan's A1 scales off attack and speed not sure which one ofc is highter but she is the only one i know about
Whilst I agree with Crit damage being better attack% should not be shrugged off or ignored!!!
They need to start showing us the attack base of each skill.. I'm a new player and see that they don't have that. I hope they look into that asap
That's huge! Thanks a lot)
Or that im thinking of this the wrong way because i rly wanna know
Defense also falls off after 5,000.
the crit dmg is based on this: [(attack + crit dmg% ) / enemy champion def] ; from 166% crit dmg to 246% crit dmg and the difference was not even 100%; 31k - 53k with 166% crit dmg and 46k - 65k with 246% crit dmg. so: (5765 + 21100 + champion masteries + artifact set + skill bonus) - (enemy champion def + skills bonus + artifact set + masteris + what other def things) = from 31k to 53k or 46k to 65k based on all bonuses. and all those data don't really fit on the screen...
I built 2 skullcrowns, 1 with high atk and lower crit dmg, the other the inverse and it was negligible in dmg
Awesme, i was searching for these informations! définatly curious to know about the scaling on damage with chars like mountain king etc
Some one help me plz. ( equip an atk type champion wit gauntlets, chestplate, boots with ATK as their primary stats) I don't this what is that means
actually 2.5 x of base attack barrier little wrong. it is have to 2x. even at 2x point % c.dmg better than %atk.
For eva, 1700x2=3400x1.66=5644
lets add %10 atk ,1700x2.1=3570x1.66=5926
or add %10c.dmg, 3400x1.76=5984 see. so dont bother with %atk items items if you have 1.8-2x base atk.(if you have %c.dmg items to replace :D)
watching ash sitting down feels... weird XD
I did not know this, thank you
You mentioned the link tot he reddit post was underneath but...unless I am blind..its not there. Can you post it pls? Thanks for tghe video..i subbed!
Wow thanks for this!
Ash hasn't posted the link to Beerwalker's post, but here it is www.reddit.com/r/RaidShadowLegends/comments/axrjsk/game_mechanics_summary_gearing_calculator/
Good information ....Thanks
wow this is very helpful. i was making the same mistake as you lol
In short, CR gloves, Attack chest, speed boots, and everything else should priotize CD and Spd and nothing else
Rather, CD gloves, and with crit rate substats on items. You'll easily overcap on CR with 6* CR gloves and just 2 6* items with multiple CR subrolls, but there's no overcapping on CD.
4years ago 😢
Can u get crit rate on accessories?
nope. only crt. dmg... and only on amulets.
Remember when he first got queen ava and thought she was trash
video starts at 6.18
thank you ash!
Can you do 1 on hope plz
Great video! Thanks! Does the Hp% base dmg scale the same as the 2.5 + on base att%?
FYI: 2.5x bigger=3.5x...
over a year of grinding this game... maxed out heros still do less damage than people who haven't max theirs out... ive tried everything even tried working on my halls... the game makes no sense, probably as im a FREE2play person ive notice friends that spend loads get way better drops and way easier opponents in pvp. also trying to grind weapons or shards on events i get the opposite to what i need etc.
most of people talking about this game.. soo many videos but you guys dont show exactly the items! i mean i consider having such awesome gear and when i look to my stats its like set give 2k attack .. 180% crit damage now i see your card having only from set 4k attack? like wtf? show me the items!!! i neet to see the items! how can you get 4k attack ?
when u have atk% gloves, chest and boots it helps a lot
I can understand why HP and defence based champions are so good. Some people who do guides tell U about get your crit rate and crit dam in certain % but neglect to say what total attack should be around. Oh well back to the drawing board
That thumbnail :)
Random Question: Does the “SSG” on ur beenie stand for Super Sayin God? Lol looking for a friend
Pretty sure it stands for SpaceStationGaming
Ya Space Station Gaming :)
Lol thanks that makes sense 🤔😂✌️
Eva doesn’t need 100% Cr tho? She a3 gives 15% and her aura is 19%. So really she needs 66% Cr
Great vid although some mistakes with auras ect, but i just can't watch with that banner thing in the way, why is it there.
WOW BEST VIDEO EVER!!
Now throw in a lil ignore def and go over 60k lol
hey bro big fan from japan here.
I just applied to ur team...Ibiza Hunter
So what is a positive reason why Plarium is hiding those numbers from us? Tell me why I dont have another reason to dislike their practices.
Now who's gonna pay for all the re-gearing?
Ash...You should redo this video with the current meta. I bet it would get a lot of views. Go further into detail on this cause there are definitely some things missing from this equation.
u didnt really test anything lol
yup this video is above me pay grade!
cool study
