@ghost mall I believe firmly that I can use the Alpha to absolutely everything the Juno 6/60/106 in terms of sound. The tactile experience is different of course and I do keep the 106 for different reasons.
@ghost mall I'll give you that. The filter does not self-oscillate. However, like you point out, this is a feature very rarely used, at least among "pop" user like myself. Ok, the A-ha & Duran patches made me re-think this synth. Edit: alright and further on there are more truly nice examples It’s the first time I recall missing my Alpha
Great sounds...Today I just picked up a HS-80 for $75...needs some work...a few dead keys and buttons...look forward to getting it up to speed and using it for old school strings, bass and leads.
Super great job, Espen. i already loaded the patches into my AJ2. My job for next thursday (its a holiday here in germany) is to "translate" the parameters to my u-he Diva (maybe the best (software)synth for analog sounds...... Have a nice (rest)sunday.... Greets from germany...
Listening to your Sweep patches, they really remind me of the Roland D50's synth sweep. Though, I have to admit it sounds way better off the Alpha Juno. It does really well at those slow LFO sweeps. I also really like the brass patches in here. I think the factory patches are trying to hard to sound like real brass instruments, your patches make better use of that synthy analog brass sound. Anyway, a year+ on with my Alpha Juno; these patches are great.
I've owned my Alpha Juno 2 for a couple weeks. I really like it's raw analog sound and the chorus effect is really good. But even though this synth is from 1986, most the patches I find online sound more like they're for 1990's techno music. I've had trouble finding decent 80's sounds for it. I mean, it's guts are almost the same as the Juno-106, it should be able to do almost everything that synth can do. I'm thinking I'll buy your patches and see how I like them. :P
I've sold all the Junos except the Alpha because it can do all the sounds of the 6/60/106. And more. All the patches in my bank are meant for 80s synthpop, not techno at all.
Three things that makes the Alpha stand out are the PWM in sawtooth wave, the array of sub osc waves and the adjustable chorus. Of all juno's the Alpha is the most versatile, but the JU-60 has got the looks and the JU-106 can send its slider changes though MIDI.
Hi @Espen Kraft , thank you for uploading these :) I have never loaded patches before and want to know once i have saved my patches and uploaded yours, will they both show on the synth or does one have to go through the same process to use my patches again ? I have the PG 300 too so im assuming i can tweak away with your patches too ? Thanks my friend !
That's correct. My bank fills the entire user bank so anything there will be gone if you upload my bank into it. Be sure to save your stuff first. You can of course edit my sounds as you like and store them again. Cheers
@@EspenKraft Im assuming my patches are the originals which came on with the synth. Incase i make some error and end up losing them, do you have the originals incase i needed to load them again ? I've just downloaded sysex librarian right now
Your preset bank can't be overwritten, but it's your user bank that will be replaced by whatever you upload through sysex. I don't offer any support on how to restore whatever bank you overwrite. I only make banks of patches for synths. ;-)
So incredible that at the time these units were considerated "cold", "punk crap", now every synth lover want to play this keyboards and their prices are now rising up like a space rocket
It's been tried and it doesn't work as the ReDominator so far can't import a bulk patch bank, only separate patches. My patch bank is the whole 64 bank.
Hey so I downloaded the patches and they sound great. Is there a way to send my previously made patches (i saved them to my iMac) and transfer those to the cartridge M16? I'm really lost and there was a Jupiter X sounding patch the guy who I bought it from that sounded great. Thanks and I love these patches once again!
To save patches on the cartridge, you have to have them in the Alpha first. I suggest you re-load your set into the Alpha again and then save them on a cartridge. Then you can re-load my bank again and have access to them all. Thanks! :)
These patches sound awesome! But I am trying to bulk load the sysex but I get stuck on the ''Bulk Load MIDI.o''. Did anyone experienced the same issue? Thanks.
If you follow the step by step instructions in my video you can't go wrong. As long as you've hooked up the midi interface correctly and you have a working midi interface. The manual is also very clear.
@@EspenKraft Thank you for taking taking the time answer. Seems like there was a driver issue with my midi interface on my mac. Now, let's make some music! :)
If you check the comments lately, there is this guy that have made some conversion app or whatever. The Re-Dominator guys refuses to make the plugin load in a complete sysex bank. For some reason they won't do it. Shame on them as they're the ones loosing out on that. My bank is the best patches you can find for the Alpha when it comes to usable 80s type of sounds. ;-)
Is this process writing over the 64 factory patches or will your patches be stored in the 64 user patch slots with the process in the video? Do I need the memory cartridge to get the 64 user patch slots?
That's right. These will overwrite what you have there in user memory. So you have to save these on a memory cart or sysex to your computer before if you like to keep your own patches intact.
So a newb question here but will these patches work though Ableton, i have an Ultranova but i guess i wouldn't be able to store them in the Ultranova. Great sounding patches even if i can't use them.
No stupid questions, just stupid answers. Anyways, forget Ableton or Ultranova, these patches can only be used if you have a hardware Alpha Juno or the module MKS-50. Old school you know. ;-)
If I bought these could you just send me the parameters? I’d rather just program them in myself as a learning experience. I also have the Pg-300 it would be easy to do.

really pleasant patches, man! :)
Thanks for saying! :)
these are great! makes me want to grab this board
Thanks! Do it! ;-)
Excellent Espen
Thanks man! :)
Simply amazing sounds and programming
Thank you very much for saying! :)
Nice patches!
Thanks!
The best channel of earth 🌍 ❤
Thanks!
Awesome, thanks!
Cheers!
And more. All the patches in my bank are meant for 80s synthpop, not techno at all.
very nice sounds
Thanks! :)
Boom ! My first first ! : )
Snyggt Espen:)
Tackar! :)
Veldig bra Espen 😊👍
Tackar så mycket! :)
@@EspenKraft åja, e du svensk? Trudde du va norsk som mæ, hehe. Go hælg å skål

Naida, er norsk som bare det jeg ;-) Spøkte bare. God hælj selv! :)
Still waiting for your 80s Midi chords pack !
I don't think that will happen anytome soon ;-)
Yes that would be great not Mr Espen 😉🤘🏻
I wil buy this one to support you!
Great 80s sounds!! I wish I had an Alpha Juno :(
Thanks! :)
Sorry to rub it in, but a few weeks ago I was able to pick one up for (the equivalent of) $50. Best auction haul ever!
@@ralpix6240 Wow! Cool! :)
@@ralpix6240 damn!!
Three things that makes the Alpha stand out are the PWM in sawtooth wave, the array of sub osc waves and the adjustable chorus.
Of all juno's the Alpha is the most versatile, but the JU-60 has got the looks and the JU-106 can send its slider changes though MIDI.
A PG-300 takes care of the MIDI/sliders issue on the Alpha Junos. ;)
@@-VCO- Sure but that's an extra.
Probably still less than one of the older Junos (for now).
I only make banks of patches for synths. ;-)
at 4:52 you sold me a JUNO 2...nice bass
Sweet!
nice prog @2:16👌👍
Cool Nik, thanks! It's as close as I got to a pad I have in the S700 sampler. ;-)
Thoseeee Bassessss yeahhh!
Hi Espen! Sound great, can these be loaded in any soft synth or vst?
Thanks! No, as said in the video description they can only be used on a hardware Alpha or MKS-50.
obligatory 10:54 ;) - love the patches and the video! Unfortunately I don't have an Alpha Juno but the Kawai K3 seems to fill that "gap" pretty well!
Thanks! The K3 is a great synth for sure.:)
Hell yes
So incredible that at the time these units were considerated "cold", "punk crap", now every synth lover want to play this keyboards and their prices are now rising up like a space rocket
*человек получает удовольствие от занятия*
Can I use this patches in the Roland Cloud version of Juno?
Roland Cloud does not have a emulation of the Alpha Juno so that you cannot.
@@EspenKraft You're right, it's the Juno 106!
Great patches that my AJ2 would love :) but for now I have to enjoy your DW8000 bank. If you had to choose between AJ2 or JX8p which would it be?
Audio Realism's Re-dominator (best AJ2 emulation out there) VST could possibly load sysex if I am not mistaken
It's been tried and it doesn't work as the ReDominator so far can't import a bulk patch bank, only separate patches. My patch bank is the whole 64 bank.
Thanks! Hard choice, but I'd always go for the Alpha Juno before the DW-8000 myself. They're both excellent synths though.
Thanks! :)
Espen Kraft thanks man! Love the channel, you shred
Well damn, I gotta get an Alpha Juno then. At least they're relatively affordable, especially the A.J. 1
They're still criminally underrated so your smart to get one now :)
the four note polyphony of the aj1 and no velocity on the keyboard will kill ya though. aj2 has 6 note polyphony.
Super +++++!!!!!!
Thanks!
Do you know if these work with RolandCloud and it’s Juno 106?
Two very different synths with totally different synth parameters so it will not.
Is there a way to get these patches to load into a re- dominator VST?
If you check the comments lately, there is this guy that have made some conversion app or whatever. The Re-Dominator guys refuses to make the plugin load in a complete sysex bank. For some reason they won't do it. Shame on them as they're the ones loosing out on that. My bank is the best patches you can find for the Alpha when it comes to usable 80s type of sounds. ;-)
what reverb did you use?
Just a hall reverb from Valhalla in this demo.
So you and your alpha can even do without your beloved Eventide H3000. :-D
Sure, all relationships must end...
Is this process writing over the 64 factory patches or will your patches be stored in the 64 user patch slots with the process in the video?
Do I need the memory cartridge to get the 64 user patch slots?
That's right. These will overwrite what you have there in user memory. So you have to save these on a memory cart or sysex to your computer before if you like to keep your own patches intact.
can these patches be loaded in the reDominator vst?
I thought this was possible
I don't think reDominator accepts whole sysex banks. Some has asked before. Check with the makers of it.
This patches works with alpha juno 1?
There is no difference between the Alphas when it comes to patches. So yes.
Will you be including some midi of your sexy keyboard playing?
Afraid not, I don't even record MIDI data usually. In my songs about 90 percent of all you hear is recorded by hand straight in as audio.
Old school you know. ;-)
Can someone tell me what the difference in sound is between analogue and not analogue synthesizers?
Warm vs Bright, lol. but that's the usual way of explaining it, both had periods when they dominated pop music
If I bought these could you just send me the parameters? I’d rather just program them in myself as a learning experience. I also have the Pg-300 it would be easy to do.
No, I don't have that. You'd have to study the parameters afterwards. I don't have them written down.
i CAN TELL YOU'RE not into this fucken thing. Thanks for the demo, but we both know...it's gunta be the Korg DW-8000, bro. HAHAHA!!
