Well, Edward was supposed to be the hottest king on theEnglish throne of all times, and the greatest womanizer. T´was necessary for the audience to believe that women threw themselves at him for a reason, so they chose Max Irons :-D
I love Rebecca and only found out her period drama the White Queen, i love it especially the first episode and came to love king Edward as well, their love story and scenes are the sweet treats of the drama that makes me come back again and again...
Burnt Orange her daughter also went onto marry the son of the enemy and she became grandmother to a manwhore and great grandmother to one hell of a queen
Yes it is an interesting fact lol. It's actually written by Phillipa Gregory though, an amalgamation of three books (white queen, red queen, kingmaker's daughter). Emma is the screenwriter.
Snaggle Toothed If you care so much about accuracy, take your lazy ass to the library and read a history BOOK. It is not the job of television to educate you. Television is there to ENTERTAIN you, you moron.

I love this show because it portrays Richard III (The Duke of Gloucester) as history and surviving written records of him claims rather than the Tudor propaganda and lies spun about him.
While Richard III was not as evil as depicted in Tudor times, he was not the saint some modern authors depict him to be. He was pretty ruthless and had men executed without trial, including one of these boys about 20 years later. The two Princes disappeared under his watch, and there is absolutely no evidence they survived his reign. If they were murdered he most likely responsible. However, it is possible they died of natural causes, and because of the rumours Richard dared not let the public know they had died.
The only thing certain about the Princes (One of them being the rightful Edward V) is that they were never seen again. Unless of course "Perkin Warbeck" was one of them having survived whatever took place in the Tower...
@benvolio mozart not really she gave birth to two strong heirs, the problem came in the form of Richard III and the lack of loyalty to his brothers family.
its a tv show made for the 21st century not a documentary. had a great story line and even better actors who cares if it is accurate!!! bore off already
Who cares? What would you say about a WWII movie that had soldiers armed with swords, people using smartphones and driving modern vehicles and Hitler attacking Britain for the sole purpose of marrying the queen mother, all at the same time? you'd say it's nonsense, "It was not this way!" Well, imagine - that's how this production looks to a person who knows a bit about 15th century history and arts.
I'm a history teacher so I obviousley saw the flaws in this production. I know a lot about the Royal family through out history but my comment was clearly just to say this was a drama, not exactly fact based. Look at The Tudors one of the most popular shows and that was filled with mistakes. When its good to watch people don't care. That was the point I was making :)
keleigh hester it's also taking form a novel which is based on the history, so the show doesn't have to be historical accurate at all. As long as it follows the novel slightly...
This is Edward IV (Edward 4th) Henry VIII was father to Edward VI (Edward 6th) After the death of Edward IV, Elizabeth would marry Henry VII, becoming Mother to Henry VIII and Grandmother to Edward VI
No. French was the language of the court of Edward III. However I think English was, his heir, Richard II's first language and so it had started to change. However I think it wasn't until Richard III the language of the legal system was changed to English.
@@brontewcat still it's not French. Since statue of pleading (1362) languages of law were English and latin. Presence of latin is nothing strange as it was uniwersal language in middle ages
ŁKS Łódź I am not sure that you and I actually disagree. Edward III had a very long reign. When he became king and for most of reign French was the language used. However it is clear it did change during his reign because his grandson’s first language was English. So maybe I was incorrect in saying it was starting to change, and should have said it had changed. French apparently continued to be used by judges/lawyers (though it may not have been exclusively?) because Parliament under Richard III passed legislation to end the last vestiges of the use of French in the legal system. In fact there is something in the deep recesses of my memory about case reports sometimes being written in a mixture of languages until Richard III.
@@brontewcat well French stayed much longer in law than in common usage among nobles so you are propably not mistaken. When it comes to edward he was definetly bilingual
I loved the white queen when it first started, Rebecca Ferguson and Max Irons were amazing 😍 but by the last episode I just thought it had gotten ridiculous with the witchcraft and the incest. No need for all that, the time period itself, all the intriguing and RL drama was enough for me without all the made up nonsense.
Elizabeth Woodvile and Edward IV are the first queen and King of England before Henry VII, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, James Stuart I, Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, King George VI and queen Elizabeth II
Today the 29th of April Last night the whole night dreaming about this woman Today I checked out about her life And learnt that she was born on the 28th of Apr What coincidence I saw in this dream many details about her life ❤
Perhaps we have come to expect too much. At least none of the actors are wearing wrist-watches. Reconstruction, whether for television, film or a novel, must be the devil's own job to retain some degree of accuracy, while keeping the interest of the audience. I believe you are quite right in suggesting that we shouldn't take it as being gospel. After all, it is entertainment. For the real thing, books by experienced historians cannot be beaten, or researching as best you can on your own.
Nah...the only thing I've come to expect from a TV drama is entertainment, and this show and all the pertaining shows connected to it, delivered entertainment on a massive scale. Thus I went away happy.
Review in the Telegraph states that it is history lite ! Sice it also describes her meeting the pretender who became Edward IV it would seem to be the reviewers that were history lite . He had already been King for several years !
I don't understand why you can find "the White princess" in DVD with French subtitles, and not "the White Queen" , I know a little bit of English, but still, would prefer to watch it with subtitles !

The actress is very beautiful but she doesn’t fit the description of Elizabeth Woodville, she was supposed to be tall slim with very fair hair ( nearly white) huge grey dragon eyes , and very red lips .
This is very incorrect. Edward was crowned by the time he met elizabeth woodville and henry vi would not be wearing it as he would be hiding in the north of england or Scotland. I know he was born in France but he lived in England most of his life so I think it's likely he spoke English.

Bad taste production. Married women (or widows) couldn't run about with their heads uncovered. Costumes are glaringly modern-made, furniture, homes, tableware mostly belong to much later periods. The story too much sentimentalized. I wanted to like it but it's clearly not for history-lovers.

I like the programme, but there's no reason they cant put them in the right costumes or have them act as they would have. Wolf Hall did and that was a big success, so was Rome for that matter. Thomas grew up to be the marquess of Dorset and an ancestor to many of the British nobility including lady Jane grey. Richard was beheaded on the orders of Richard III, this is shown in the series.
Richard was executed. Thomas grew up and fathered many children, and died at the age of 48. He's a 17th great grandfather of mine, and likely an ancestor of a huge chunk of the western world's population, including yourself

Great scene. I love the simplicity of her costume and the natural setting:

i read the book and rebecca perfectly embodied how elizabeth was thought to be. a gentle, beautiful, sort of an enchanting beauty.
