It’s meant to mimic the style from the early sets (look at the woodwork/trim and doorway arches), but it’s bigger because the setup is different. In the original Eastland years, the school had multiple, smaller dorms/houses. Now, it seems like Eastland has a single dormitory for all the students.
In real life, any school that faces closing down forever loses its reputation even if it somehow manages to survive. Didn't Eastland, if it was so prestigious, have a large endowment? At any rate, if it had truly been an elite school, it would never have faced closing down.
But if Blair is running an entire school, it would be difficult for Mindy and Nancy to have roles. Natalie was supposed to be a writer and Jo wanted to be a teacher/social worker.
Its really a shame that this and Natalies series didn't get made. Both were a lot better and made a lot more sense than many of the later season Facts of Life episodes.
