About The Facts of Life: At the Eastland School in Peekskill, New York, Edna Garrett (Charlotte Rae) oversees the day-to-day lives of students who come from all walks of life. Under the care of this slightly nutty but always caring housemother is the beautiful, rich and spoiled Blair Warner (Lisa Whelchel); the witty, plump and impressionable Natalie Green (Mindy Cohn); Dorothy “Tootie” Ramsey (Kim Fields), the young and persistent campus gossip; and Joanna “Jo” Polniaczek (Nancy McKeon), a Bronx-born and bred streetwise kid whose tough exterior masks the brains and compassion she's hiding underneath. Whether it's the challenges posed by Eastland's academic and social scenes, the rise, fall and rebirth of the businesses they start and run together, or the comings and goings of new faces in school and town, including Edna's replacement (and sister) Beverly Ann Stickle (Cloris Leachman), the girls are always ready for a new challenge, and perceptive enough to learn from each new situation.

It's too bad this spin off never happened. Would have been interesting to see how they would update with the times.
Yeah. But mayim got Blossom and Juliette got several other acting jobs thereafter. But i agree, it would have been cool to see a spinoff! They tried it a few times on FOL actually, and for some reason people never seemed to go for any of em.
I agree. It had potential.
@@EphemeralProductionsI didn’t like it the first season was my favorite
@@kellymcfalls1458 lots of others seem to share your likes and views lol
@@kellymcfalls1458 Expand your thinking! In my objective opinion, the first season and season 7 are the best! I know that you like originality, but every movie has new developments! The plot of the movie changed simply from the reviews of the audience at that time!
I love this episode with Myaim Bialik from Blossom and Juliet Lewis.
Mayim
who is the girl on the left though?
@@johnta17 She's an awesome actress @MeredithScottLynn, she's played in alot but was amazing in Days of Our Lives for YEARS.
Six was probably Blossom's roommate in this episode. And instead of talking super fast, maybe Six walked in and out of the scene so fast we never saw her onscreen. LOL
Aww. Pre Blossom, probably around the time Mayim Balik was probably playing little Bette Midler on "Beaches".
This is when the show came full circle
God Blair was gorgeous!!!!😍😍😍😍😍
she still is
@@jaygee6738 yes!!
i wish her Blonde hair would of got soaked n wet in a episode
Yes.. I think some of us watched the show for her...
@@ghostoferlock before my time.. but I would have watched just for her.. and she still looks good
The staircase is much grander in this version of Eastland.
I wonder if this was the same set used in Season 1.
@@nassauguy48 it vaugely looks like it. Of course the technology for tv production improved since 1979. So even if they did skimp on other things, the set looked 'better'
Mayim bialik next to Juliette Lewis!!
Blaire was still the Headmistress in the movie years later, Tootie's daughter was starting at Eastland and Natalie had two boyfriends, both wanting to marry her. No Jo,though.
Actually Blair sold Eastland and now owned a hotel. After all of that work she gave up on the school. Disappointing.
Jo became a cop.
Mayim appeared on the Facts of Life? I don't believe it!
@misstee101 not to mention Seth Green and Juliette Lewis.
@@SuperMarioBrosIII whoa!
Molly Ringwald and George Clooney had regular roles on the show at one time too.
Wow, a couple of familiar faces in that clip!
Ashley Payne is Jan the nurse on Days Our Lives.
Its really a shame that this and Natalies series didn't get made. Both were a lot better and made a lot more sense than many of the later season Facts of Life episodes.
This episode never made sense to me. Eastland being a run down school seemed very random.
I agree with the wealthy sending their daughters there and all.
In real life, any school that faces closing down forever loses its reputation even if it somehow manages to survive. Didn't Eastland, if it was so prestigious, have a large endowment? At any rate, if it had truly been an elite school, it would never have faced closing down.
@@nassauguy48Not every school facing closure looses their reputation even if it doesn’t close!
This was gonna be the Spinoff
Lisa/Blair still looks this good.
I always thought that Lisa Whelchel looked her best towards the very end of the series, with the long straight hair and the side-part bangs.
@@TMC1982Part2 yeah. I like this hairdo much better.
Blair Warner gave up on law school for this mess?
Makes no sense.
Not even remotely possible.
would you want Blair to be your lawyer? She was way too much of an airhead to be one.
@@Diostillrocks Blair was never an air head in the show. She had excellent grades all the way through and had a sharp legal mind.
@@belkyhernandez8281 in the later seasons she was a bit, once the show stopped focusing on “issues” Blair was written to be less of a snob.
Lisa!💖😍
2:48, Sam Behrens who would later portray the role of Danny Waleska in Knots Landing.
H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E casting is why this never went anywhere...it never stood a chance. With the exception of Lisa, this clip alone was painful to watch.
The writing was bad, and the acting even worse.
good lord I remember this
Omgosh so many early stars in this one!
Ashley )synergy is the same actress in Legally Blonde. She is at Harvard and rejects Elle.
I thought that was her - she has a lovely raspy voice.
Yes! The "ove-ester" lady. Anthony Perkins' son Osgood played "Dorky David" in Lrgally Blonde, too.
Yep she played a butch lezo in legally blonde
she plays amy on the big bany
Nice
Loved this show but this is really when it jumped the shark. They had no planned ending and it just petered out into this.
The plan was to give the series another season but after Mindy and Nancy declined, NBC practically rushed the series into cancellation.
@@stephenholloway6893 Sad but true!🤔🙄😔📺
@@stephenholloway6893 yeah if they left I can see why there would be a really quick cancellation.
But if Blair is running an entire school, it would be difficult for Mindy and Nancy to have roles. Natalie was supposed to be a writer and Jo wanted to be a teacher/social worker.
@@stephenholloway6893Cohn declined because she wanted a spinoff series and they did no. McKeon actually wanted out a lot earlier than Season 09.
Why would Ashley be at a school that was financially collapsing if she had so much money?
tradition? Her mom etc had graduated from there. So even though it's now financially a mess, she still has to attend.
I think Blair bring the head mistress of Eastland was just too much to Take..And maybe that was the reason why the "Spinoff " Was canned !! Thanks for the the upload !! Lost of Future talent on this show..
A headmistress in her early 20s and with no background in education was simply not realistic.
Blair looking extra 🔥
Blossom !!!! Hi !!!!
wow.. a very young Juliette Lewis!! totally forgot that she was in this
Wait how come I never saw this episode - Mayim Balik, Juliette Lewis, Seth Green????
the original set from the first year did not have a double staircase.
That set was probably long gone and they needed to build a new one.
@@Diostillrocks all they had to do was look at the first season episodes if they wanted to replicate the set accurately.
It was a new set for a potentially new show...why would they keep the old set?
@@maximusprime3459 continuity?
@@maximusprime3459Because it was the SAME school?
The final episode of The Facts Of Life, and a teaser for a purposed spin off that didn't get picked up.
Blossom and The Facts Of Life are my favorite shows and Mayim and Blair are so slayyyyyyyyy
I love Blair cuz she never backed down
This is how Yellowjackets started 🐝⚽️🥩
This series never would have worked. No way. The supporting cast is dreadful.
❤❤❤❤❤❤😂
This was a misguided attempt to keep the show going. It didn't work the first time when they had a large cast of characters running in and out of every scene. Keeping the focus smaller is what made them successful. It was time to give them a real sendoff at this point.
Once the show got going they prolly would've cut the cast down a bit like they did the first time. Its clear which ones stand out and which ones don't.
Yeah they tried it two other times besides this with different characters and it failed every time.
If anything, it showed how Eastland had become nothing more than a diploma mill for the rich. These kids were STUPID.
@@EphemeralProductions maybe--maybe not. Differences in production styles. Fox network was also launched in 1986 which changed broadcast. The original show had started when there were only 3 networks. So they'd have to get used to a larger cast.
@@maximusprime3459the first season was my favorite
Headmistress, huh? Honey, you're living in a dream world. No matter what they say, they never leave their wives.
I love The Nanny 🤣🫶🏽🫶🏽
A headmistress is in charge of a school. Like a principal.
Blair was too rich to work
Woman family faces here. I never even knew this existed. Sam Bremen's (Jake) General Hospital & Juliet Lewis.
Nope. Blair was supposed to be like the Mrs.Garrett character. Sort of like a den mother. But Blair was only 19 or 20 yrs old herself. Too young for a den mother
I think Blair would have been about 24 by this point in the series
@@johnfire3194 maybe.. still not old enough to be a den mother. She would have been more like a big sister.
Wow. My mom had me at age 22. She and I need to have a long talk about motherhood age limits...
