In 1968 1 was 14 years old. And found the movie resoundingly hilarious. Now I thoroughly enjoyed it. Back then, it was in a cinema house. Today on my IPad
To dress that way you have to be rich and waited on and chauffered. That's a tiny percent of the populace, as it was then. Though even the middle class in the US anyway did dress more carefully and tidily then. Now even the young well-off in certain places dress in "urban wilderness survival chic." Except it's not chic. I'd rather be drinking champagne in a Dior caftan before dinner, frankly.
Thank you very much for sharing a great film with a fantastic cast. Very funny and delighted to have David Niven and Deborah Kerr in a comedy together. Many smiles.
I've never seen this - a delightful comedy of errors, and beautifully turned-out characters with refreshingly precise diction - just the thing to watch alone at midnight when you have a bad cold and need distraction. A rare chance to see a good movie for we tv-less and Netflix-less economizers. Many thanks!
THANK U VERY MUCH, FOR ENTERTAINING ME IN THESE FRIGHTFUL AND SAD DAYS, OF CORONA, AND BEING AT A FRIGHTFUL AGE OF 80. Love this movie. David Niven looking charming and handsome as ever. Deborah Kerr wearing the most glamorous fashions and Geraldine the daughter also starred in To Sir With Love. Great movie....phenomonal cast.

“This is my mistress”. Out and open. Could any of us be so honest ? Perfect marriage is so rare. The heart wants what the heart wants. For a fluff movie, it’s kinda deep.
What a cute little comedy. The music in some of the '60s movies was so good. So nice to see actors who could actually do comedy, unlike many of the actors nowadays. Deborah Kerr and David Niven were just delightful as usual. Thank you for this.
such great details, i love the production design... the moment when the two parents are watching the boy who was just caught in their daughters bedroom drive away... the way they just watch him .. the whole thing is fantastic. almost didn't recognize the mother at the end with her new baby .... beautiful
David Niven played in umpteen delightful comedies that included: My man Godfrey, The Little Hut, The Moon is blue, The Impossible Years and Guns of Navarone [serious war drama]. A perennial scene-stealer, he hit the bull's eye with unnerving effect in a string of strong portrayals , which stood out for the actor's remarkable virtuosity
Oops! Sorry I forgot to mention the delightful Judy Geeson who's in this film. Fans will remember her in Sidney Poitier's brilliant film "To Sir With Love" 1969
Uh, great actress, but remembered by all who knew her as one of the biggest cussers known to Hollywood and the British Isles. Listen to Mitchum describe her during one of his interviews. Not quite the "lady" off screen.
Thank you for posting this delightful film, everything about it is what I desire in a film.Actors, costumes and in English, nothing vulgar. Thank you once again
Thank you ever so much Chris Johnson for sharing your delightful movie. If you like a sweet, nostalgic 60's reminder of the good life, it will be"distinctly disadvantageous" for you to miss this movie!!
I loved this hilarious comedy of errors about a well to do British family and their daughter, her uncle, his mistress and the family's chauffeur and maid and the birth control pill
Chris Johnson, what a SCREAM!! Bless you, dear one for THIS GEM!! Found it quite by accident, 1-11-20 and it is just what the Dr. ordered! Dont know where you find your sublime library of titles, but your a dream to upload them for everyone... All the best and Gratitude.
Yes, this movie i see for the first time( i’m born in 1957) !!! And this movie is what i like !!! Now in 2024 i enjoy and feel my youth again !!! THANK YOU !!! L.M. ❤❤❤😊😊😊
I like the part when Deborah Kerr is fixed on a western on TV, and David Niven says something and she says, "Gerald please, I'm trying to follow the plot!", and he says, "I didn't know there was one."
English people LOVE to satire american westerns, charachters, music, etc anything western. Benny hill did it often, sodbusters is a canadian movie that is a satiricle look at the smash hit movie shane.sodbusters is a a comedybig big money spent for a joke that all of the uk will adore
It's a movie about the pill and about women getting tricked into pregnancy. I don't know if they're making a point, but I would hardly call this just good entertainment. Also, 1968 wasn't a time when a movie was just good entertainment. We've had movies that did more than entertain ever since movies began.
So different from nowadays..While watching this, I'm social distancing and wearing Muji striped T-shirt and a pair of cream coloured jogging pants. May be my attire is too relaxed if I were living in 60's?!
I've only seen this movie 3 times. The third time is right now, the first time was in 1972, when I was ten, with my two brothers when my mom was asleep in bed, and the second time, about a year or two later when the family was up and about. The second time, my family caught on to what I was watching, and they commented that a kid my age should not be watching such a movie.
As did I, and so will I watch again now two weeks on. It was difficult to keep up with and trying later to explain the storyline to another was nearly as hilarious.
I love movies from this period. They're so reassuring. And late 60s interiors have to have been the best, EVER. Did anyone else notice the William Morris reproduction wallpaper in black and white? And how about the cobalt carpet, with silver leaf stair balusters, grey walls, and Flame Mahogany doors & furniture?
As I was a child of the sixties I can relate to the rampant immorality - although my value system has radically changed since then - but I do like the fact that everyone in this story actually WANTED their babies and there was never a hint of ‘getting rid’ of them. It’s sad how much things have changed.
Vesna Hill absolutely loved how she supposedly walked across the RaceTrac in between all the cars in that beautiful pink dress we all know it was a stunt double. A lady with such a touch of class.
THE SCANDAL!!! Why, Olivia and Fitz can't hold a candle to Gerald and Prudence (of all the names a mother could give such a Jezabel) 😂😂😂 This movie was absolutely adorable! I loved it!!
My parents left us kids with the babysitter went to see this movie in Dayton, Ohio. Mom said there was a married couple in line in front of them, and the ticket seller refused to sell them tickets because although the husband was over 18, his wife was only 17 years old.
Even starting my Nurse training in London 1976,I was asked my age...otherwise we could not go in if it was X rated..Wish someone would ask my age now ha ha😉I.d knock a few years off!!Love these films🤗
Silly- as a married woman you're an adult. I married at 17 and was allowed anywhere. This may have been a R rating but no X. I saw a few minutes of an X movie That went up at a drive-in ( go figure) after the main feature, and it made me nauseous, literally. Couldn't leave fast enough. Mystery is SO much better!
Lol; The Pill was just becoming accepted at this time, and I don’t know if this movie would make it a more attractive-option - or would have acted as a warning against it. ;) Thanks for this!!
Ms. Kerr & Mr. Niven co-starred in at least four other movies: "Separate Tables", "Bonjour, Tristesse", "Eye of the Devil" and "Casino Royale". They certainly had good chemistry.
You have my prescription, I have your letter. When its gone, its gone. Nevin was a great actor. This movie is fantastic! I like David Niven. Debra Kerr, is okay I saw her play in a movie with Dean Martin and old blue eyes. Like I was saying, this movie would be a big hit today. Delightful, thank you. When I was a young girl I was not allowed to see this, I think it was something like 4 to 21!! Lol, oh the times they are changing
Love the film overall, and the opening title sequence always stuck in my mind over the years. I suppose some would call this madcap or a light little romp but actually the subject matter is pretty serious when you get right down to it. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I just love the way both men and women dress back then. So classy and stylish.. what happened to us now....
To dress that way you have to be rich and waited on and chauffered. That's a tiny percent of the populace, as it was then. People run after cheap ugly clothes
I loved dressing classy, miss those days,
god the director
So many good movies. David Niven was such charming
I always remember this movie, because at the very end I went into labor with my son LOL.
See, this is exactly what Prudence was trying to avoid.
60’s music, fashion, british accents, Kerr & Niven, what’s not to love.

Deborah Kerr, the most refined lady of British cinema ever.
In my opinion definitely a tie between Deborah Kerr and Greer Garson. For that title.
Tatjana, I agree she was One of the most refined lady of British cinema. Never got bored or tired of her in her many roles perfectly played.
Uh, great actress, but remembered by all who knew her as one of the biggest cussers known to Hollywood and the British Isles. Listen to Mitchum describe her during one of his interviews. Not quite the "lady" off screen.
