    I am a craft hoarder so i keep tiny scraps. When it's too tiny I use a shaped hole punch and make confetti.

    Very informative and useful video, thanks, and I appreciated you explaining in the intro what the 5 chapters would be. Wish I'd seen this before re-organising my craft room. I'd love to have a tower like you have - it looks very sleek! I'm didn't think of it, so my coloured cardstock/paper is in a filing cabinet, with labels for the main colours e.g. Red, Blue etc. I add extra suspension files to each section whenever I buy a new shade. The disadvantages, compared to your lovely tower, are
    1. I can't see at one glance what I own, not even looking down into the filing cabinet drawers.
    2. I have to keep a stock of suspension files.
    3. A filing cabinet drawer isn't tall enough for 12x12 inch paper/card.
    Thanks again. Subbed.

      That does sound frustrating! Maybe you can keep your eye out for sales or coupons and reorganize the paper in the future :)

    Abbi - I have been struggling with a workable way to store all of my craft paper and you have offered such an awesome solution! I'm currently printing labels for my clear plastic containers that will go on the new shelf my husband installed in my craft room closet. Michael's had an awesome sale and with my military discount, vouchers & a gift card from my son for Christmas my total cost for this project was less than $50!! This should be very easy to maintain, as well. Thank you so much for posting this video!!

    Love your tower. I think on the side it would be nice to have waterfall style wall-hung organizers for scraps to coordinate with the adjacent colors (around the corner on the side)… or even command hooks with hanging clear envelopes. Or even just envelopes taped onto the side and left open!
    I love magazine holders for my letter sized paper. I want some clear plastic like you have - mine are Ikea cardboard and they are aging!

    I use a 3" binder with page protectors for scraps. I use dividers to label "color categories" but each "color category" can have several page protectors. The "color category" has pattern paper also. I also use a 3" binder with page protectors for vinyls and just label the page protector with the type/brand of vinyl using a dry erase marker. These are also sorted by color. I keep a round pencil cup for long strips that are 1 1/2" or smaller wide and use those for sentiments, card borders, etc. If I buy a paper pack, I keep it as is and just stack them on a shelf either upright or flat.
    I like your tower for plain cardstock and may invest in those later. That's a good solution for all sizes of solids! I have some of the accordion file folders made specifically for cardstock. It works OK for 12 x 12 sheets and was horrible for scraps for me. lol The binder works much better! Thanks for the tips!

    Papers paper storage cont. I was pleased that I am using much of your solutions for paper storage After much frustration with patterned storage I discovered that generally I organize by the same color categories as solids so yellow stripes or checks or flowers whatever just the general color hue. Can get more specifics and separate by type of pattern within the color. There isn’t always a clear theme to pattern paper but when There is I use a very specific theme like Christmas or Halloween

    For scraps: I rarely save anything less than half, if I have something that could become a photo mat, I cut it down to 4 X 6 and put it in the plastic photo boxes, categorized by color (one box for each color, I have 12). These stay close to my work station, that way I can grab a piece quickly for stamping, die cutting, or as a photo mat. For kits (patterned papers, coordinating card stock, ephemera): I usually keep a kit together until I've made all of my layouts/cards. then I put card stock back in its container and the scraps as listed above. I usually only save patterned paper from a kit if it is tone on tone. The rest I take to a crop and put in the give away box.

    For my 8.5x11 solid sheets I put them in a binder in sheet protectors, organized by color. & weight(copy paper/ cardstock) I can still see all the colors I have and I know exactly where they all are without them taking up a lot of space. And for my 12x12 sheets I have them separated by color, and pattern. And those I store in a plastic drawer system. Scraps have their own drawer but I don’t sort them out. Lol but I love all your solutions!

    For small scraps I use the organizer from Michaels that for photos. They have mini boxes within a larger case and I keep one colour in each mini box. (Photo & Craft storage by Simply Tidy)

    I have lots of scraps and now I first look ad the scraps when I need paper. If it is not there, than I can use new paper. All my scraps are in plastic pockets by colour near my desk. The new paper is not near my desk and I have to stand up to get it. That helps me to use up scraps.

    Hi Abbi, I just looked more closely at the 12x12" clear plastic tiered holders. They look to me like they might not work well unless they have lots of paper in them; like the paper would lean over or bend over (depending on weight) unless it's being held up by other paper. Is that your experience?

      @abbikirstencollections  10 місяців тому

      I haven't personally experienced this. I have used them for several years. :)

    Hello, I have a paper sorter like you have in your closet. However, when I moved my paper sorter is now exposed. Do you know a way that I could make them into drawers instead of shelves or inserts so the paper doesn't get dusty

      Not off hand, but you may be able to reach out to a carpenter in your area to see if they can help :)

    Is cardstock the same as scrapbook paper. Not the very thin decorative paper.

    • @abbikirstencollections
      @abbikirstencollections  Рік тому

      Yes, many papers labeled as scrapbook are cardstock. Just be sure to check the weight :)
