    Very cool. I live at the 2800 foot elevation of nearby 9150 foot high Mt. Lemmon, Santa Catalina Mountain Range, SE Arizona. I love it when I summit the mountain and do it every year, sometimes more than once. At 71 years of age, I only do the summit in my vehicle, but do occasionally hike the lower levels thru some very rugged desert terrain. I am glad you have the youth and stamina to make the climbs and rate the mountains. Thank you for sharing your perspective on these beautiful mountains.

      Wow! I’m glad to hear you’re still doing it good sir! I don’t matter how we get there. A slow amble through the woods - a brisk walk around a lake. A mountain summit assault or a drive up to a view point. As long as we get to enjoy nature in our own way, the best we can is all that matters. The 1000 yard stare over a horizon is what we seek to clear the mind. Thank you so much for your story 😊🙏

    In my personal opinion, for many Japanese, Mt. Fuji is a mountain that should be seen!
    I don't climb, so I want to go to Lake Kawaguchi and enjoy the scenery with Mt. Fuji! (I have never been to see Mt. Fuji yet!)
    But if I look at Mt. Fuji, I'm sure it will change my mind! It was a wonderful ranking! Thank you!

    • @rockeastwood

      Viewing from Kawaguchi-ko or any of the five lakes is spectacular. But you have a different level of awe when you see it, sooo huge! & you know you've stood on the top. It's a amazing feeling. For me anyway :) Thank you kindly for the view and great comment.

    The secret to climbing Fuji-san is to climb from the bottom through the secluded forests. Barely anyone treads those paths. There are old shrines and monuments scattered through those woods. The other tip I always give is to climb just into September, some huts are still open but the crowds have dispersed - most Japanese only climb during the official Fuji hiking season of July/August. Thanks for the video. I need to explore those Tanzawa mountains more👍🏻

    • @rockeastwood
      @rockeastwood  4 роки тому +1

      I certainly respect your opinion. I doubt I’ll ever go for a 4th summit but if I do I’ll heed your advice! Tanzawa probably isn’t so challenging for you but the views are great at least 😊 You probably need to Tanzawa traverse to peak your interest - which I hope to try someday myself. Thank you so much, Willie!

    Awesome video, my friend. Man you spent some time on this and made a very professional looking project...felt like I was watching Travel Channel or Discovery. You definitely let us know where we need to go if we get the chance to visit Tokyo, and you have done a spectacular job of letting us know how much more there is to Japan than the commonly known city stuff.

    • @rockeastwood
      @rockeastwood  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much. My channel has been floundering for years. Not that I really have any goals other than a hobby but if one is going to take the time to put together small projects you want them to do reasonably well at least. We'll try this for now. I'll keep my Yeti microphone cooking! :) I appreciate it boss. Your compliments are very kind.

    Always got to be an easy one for the beginners and to get people into walking these great peaks. I love love to hike Mt Fuji for the achievement, rather that the trail up of the rocking step-in stones and I would have to do it at first light, as too many people for me. I can see why your number 1 is your favourite and so special with it being the first summit you climbed 15 years ago. Cheers Alan

    • @rockeastwood
      @rockeastwood  4 роки тому

      Believe it or not Mt Fuji is more crowded at first light. Everyone wants that sunset shot. I'm really not a fan of the first one but if it can get people hiking then it has to be ranked because of it's importance :) Whatever gets people outside! Thank you so much, Alan!

    Thanks for the recommendations. I definately want to try the top 3 you mentioned. Have you ever hiked Mt Fuji at night and watched the sun come up from the summit? That was my experience a few years ago on the mountain and it was so amazing! I did the hike when the moon was full and the sky happened to be clear all night. Many people were in front of me because most started the hike during the day and rested at some of the stations - this meant I could see all the headlamps on the switchbacks ahead of me. Looked like a giant Christmas tree!! Between that, the big full moon, the stars and the sunrise from the summit, I still can't think about it without getting goosebumps.

    • @rockeastwood
      @rockeastwood  4 роки тому +1

      I have not climbed Fuji-san at night but that story motivates me to for back for a 4th summit- but next time at night as you mentioned. Sounds amazing! With the 2020 Olympics coming next year I think Fuji will more crowded than ever. I'll probaby skip next year but in 2021? Who knows? Thank you so much for sharing! :)
