He not only references "Lemmings" but also "Man-Erg" in that line: "I can see the Lemmings coming, but I know I'M JUST A MAN"; the part I wrote in capitals is from "Man-Erg".

It's Hugh Banton on the organ on the ending of Pawn hearts, but Fripp does show up on every song on the album. His parts are kind of hard to make out because they're so subtle and short, but you can hear him playing guitar in the ending of lemmings, somewhere in the middle of man-erg, and the presence of the night section of pawn hearts playing some clean guitar licccs

ah very interesting, I just assumed those other parts were peter hammill because Fripp is kind of known for the ending of Plague, but again I agree, to me it sounds more like organ. Thanks man

@@TheFloydios - It's amazing just how many people seem to think it's Bob Fripp playing the solo at the end of Lighthouse keepers. Someone (I think the producer) mentions in the Van Der Graaf book, written by Jim Christopulos and Phil Smart, that it was Hugh Banton, not Fripp. I think it's because Fripp's guitar sound usually has a long distorted sustain, but so does Banton's organ! Hugh Banton has always used distortion on the organ from The Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other onwards. it's his signature sound.

One of the reasons so many people think it is Robert Fripp at the end of "Plague" is that Hugh Banton imitates his phrasing. My personal opinion is Hugh wanted to say "Did we really need this guy?" (Fripp can be a bit "trying" at times), so he played a typical Fripp solo on the organ.

I am happy young people discover Van Der Graaf Generator. Pawn Hearts still sounds as otherworldly than it did back than.

It definitely still sounds fresh and creative all these years later, no other album like it

When my sister heard lemmings for the first time she thought that the line was ‘what causes the left foot to die?’
